  1. Players took a little beating last time around.
  2. Also, it's this Chad Tracy: https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=tracy-002cha Not this one: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/t/tracych01.shtml
  3. You may ask, "but what does this do for me?" @PeteAbe There were indications this hire could somewhat coincide with the MLB team naming a new 1B coach and an additional hitting coach.
  4. @jcmccaffrey Red Sox make their Triple-A Worcester coaching hirings official: Chad Tracy, manager José David Flores, bench coach Mike Montville, assistant hitting coach Paul Abbott (pitching coach) and Rich Gedman (hitting coach) will resume their roles on the Worcester coaching staff
  5. Tracy's dad was in consideration to be hired as bench coach for Cora in 2018.
  6. @ChrisCotillo Can confirm: WooSox are naming Chad Tracy as their new manager. He was the Angels’ minor league field coordinator. Official announcement expected soon. @JoeyMacHockey first.
  7. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/12/major-league-portion-of-rule-5-draft-canceled.html It was reported initially as being "cancelled" but within a few hours it was changed to "postponed indefinitely."
  8. MLB Trade Rumors doesn't break news. They are just a news aggregator. They are only as reliable as whatever tweet they are getting their info from.
  9. They drafted him for minor league depth. They have no obligation to put him on the 40 man/active roster like they did with Whitlock.
  10. Also, the picks are less valuable in MLB since you cannot trade them.
  11. I don't believe the problem is as rampant in MLB. The teams that are at the bottom are trying to rebuild, but it's hardly ever going to be turned around by one draft selection. I don't think MLB's draft is comparable to NBA or NFL. Picks are almost always years away from helping a team. The difference in pick #1 and pick #2 is usually miniscule. With NBA and NFL, there are typically standout players that teams are trying to actually tank for. In MLB, teams are tanking to save money, not to acquire a certain pick in the draft.
  12. I've heard from multiple sources that the initial error was calling it "cancelled" when it was truly just "postponed."
  13. @jjcoop36 And I'm hearing that the MLB Rule 5 draft is expected to take place soon after whenever the lockout ends/new CBA is agreed to. So two Rule 5 drafts, one offseason. Here we go. ^ The Editor in Chief of Baseball America
  14. MLB proposed an NBA-style lottery with lowest 3 teams. Players want lowest 8 teams. Seems like some sort of lottery system for the draft will be put into place. I'm fine with it being somewhere from 3 - 8 teams in a lottery. I just don't want it to be a lottery like the NBA where every non playoff team gets a chance for a high pick. I really don't see a big issue with the current practice though.
  15. I would say it's rare that they mattered, but fairly likely that they make AAA at some point in their career.
  16. Ort was in AAA last season. Keller spent the previous 2 years in AAA. Lambright is an injury reclamation project. Not sure how much he's thrown or when he'll be ready.
  17. The current backup has a career 75 WRC+ and I bet Iggy's glove is at least as good. Iggy's coming to be the backup. Arroyo will still be the starting 2b until he reaches the IL on 5/1.
  18. There's no incentive to getting anything done until February. They are going to drag this process out for a while. I'm not sure it will impact Opening Day. I would guess that offseason begins again around 2/15.
  19. Heyman is the least reliable source in the business.
  20. Yes, they didn't struggle to the finish line in 2018.
  21. I think Bell prefers air that is a little thicker and dank.
  22. I can't say I was overly impressed with Davis or Robles.
