  1. To me, there was no slam dunk must have guy this offseason. A lot of them have things I like and things I don't. Can make a case for most everyone from Tucker through Hoskins and make a case for not signing them as well.
  2. Campbell is apparently a gong show at 1B because they sent him off to LF until further notice. If Campbell was ready, we wouldn't be having these concerns most likely. Romy is fine enough at 1B, but we want to upgrade right? I think Romy is more likely the backup at 2B or a fill in bench guy rather than platoon 1B.
  3. The further a trade is pushed back, the higher his AAV calculation is adjusted for CBT purposes.
  4. The FCL is a very weak league. If he rakes there, it doesn't tell us much about his path moving forward. I wouldn't strap a rocket to him yet. We've seen lots of guys get moved too quickly and then wind up ranked in the 20's a year or two later.
  5. If Casas could go on April 1, sure. I think they need to sign a cheap 1B option in case of an emergency though that can platoon with Masa at DH.
  6. I'm not the world's greatest speller, but yes there's a D i gobbledygook. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/gobbledygook
  7. If he didn't have the extension attached, many more teams would be calling about him.
  8. I would not move Abreu to CF. Anthony and Abreu are both strong corner OFers. Duran and Rafaela are better suited as CFers.
  9. I don't think we are indirectly paying for DD at this point. What we are paying for currently are bad drafting under DD and FA mistakes made by Bloom.
  10. Whenever Rafaela is moved into the IF, his season tanks. It's not worth it. He seems to not thrive there. Why keep on forcing an issue than hasn't worked the previous two seasons?
  11. Then keep Duran and deal Rafaela. Rafaela doesn't have MLB value at MIF.
  12. Rafaela career Outs Above Average: 2B: 0 (221 Innings) SS: -8 (692 Innings) CF: 22 (1,167 Innings) Rafaela's only value is playing CF.
  13. Aaron Judge is homegrown. Sox could have signed Fried, Rodon or Cole, but chose not to. LAD and NYY traded or signed franchise level players. BOS trades them away. 🤔
  14. Guarantee they could get rid of Sandoval and have someone take his full contract. Moving Hicks or Masa wouldn't be as big of a deal as people make it out to be. Henry just doesn't want to eat the salary.
  15. I'm not sure they are really protecting themselves as I don't think many people are buy what they are selling at this point. If they are shopping from the bargain bins yet again, people aren't going to feel bad for them acting like they are the Sisters of the Poor.
  16. And fans will be pissed because they all want two bats and believe Breslow promised two bats. This is why he should STFU and stop saying so much gobbledygook.
  17. There are no set cycles, just bad management. In the last 30 years, the Yankees have been below .500 ZERO times. They've only missed the playoffs 5 times. The Red Sox have the same finances but REFUSE to use them. To blame the success of the Yankees and Dodgers on finances is giving John Henry and easy out.
  18. Not in the IF he doesn't.
  19. Trade Sandoval - 9M Trade 1/2 Masa's contract - 9M That saves you more than making the other deal.
  20. Is it really a record number?
  21. I don't know the point in paying for a TJS guy to rehab and have an up and down year afterwards. It'd make more sense to pay cheaply for the year AFTER rehab plus an additional year to get the benefit of a healthy pitcher rather than what they are doing now.
  22. So the cliff was just when they decided to stop spending?
  23. It could have. They CHOSE not to spend from '22 - '24. They CHOSE not to compete or make moves at the deadline. The '22 team was virtually the same team as the '21 team, they just didn't invest in it. When they spent money it was on JBJ, Masa and Story. 🤮
  24. They are just going to sit around and hope a below market guy to fall into their laps. If they are lucky, Ryan O'Hearn is available in February, wants a one year deal and the market for Suarez never developed. Under their dumb constraints, I would have just re-signed Bregman and brought in Hoskins. If another guy has his market crash, you'd be able to grab him too later on.
