Had a long chat with Xander Bogaerts about cutting a deal with Scott Boras back in '19.
For all of the noise about maximizing his value, I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if he still just wants to stay in Boston.
Offer him a fair extension now ($30M AAV) and see where it goes.
They would need to win another WS quickly before it really turns fans off. Rooting for laundry is dumb. You need to have some guys that just stick around from year to year (Yaz, Rice, Evans, Pedroia, Ortiz). When guys like Boggs, Clemens and Betts leave when they still have several years of production left in them, it really sours the fans IMO.
