The rumor was that he was only visiting AZ sites and that he'd sign with one of those teams. I correctly posted a long time ago that he wouldn't sign with the Sox.

@JonHeyman Red Sox sign RHP Dan Altavilla to a two year minor league contract. Recovering from 2021 Tommy John surgery but could be a factor in second half of this season.

I'd take Pivetta over Kikuchi and Odorizzi.

Houck only has two pitches FB/slider. Whitlock has three pitches FB/slider/change. Generally, pitchers with a better variety of pitches are better suited for starters than a guy who only has 2 pitches.

They already reset the cap. His current salary shouldn't be an issue for a large market team like the Sox.

@alexspeier Cora says Sox are still figuring out who will take Sale’s spot. Houck and Whitlock both being stretched, there are early off-days, so Sox still mapping out plans.

We'll have lots of cap room to work with considering all the guys who will be out of here in November. Hiding JBJ's salary will be the least of our concerns.

If you are bad enough that the guys on SoxProspects are openly stating their concern for his future, it must have been pretty bad.

BTW, I already answered that for you. You can scout all the boxscores you'd like, but when actual scouts are saying his velo is down 3-5 mph and that his stuff won't play at a higher level, I have to give preference to that. His actual pitching wasn't as good last year. His results were ok, but that won't amount to much up in BOS.

I can ignore 2020. Bloom found success in 2021 with under the radar moves (Kiké, Renfroe, Pivetta, Iggy). He's going to need another poor season before I start to really question his roster construction. I can't blame him for not going above the CBT. That's an ownership decision.
