  1. Tater alert for Jeter Downs. https://twitter.com/redsoxstats/status/1521909572826456065
  2. ERA/OPS Times through the order for Wacha 1st: 1.64/.504 2nd: 0.75/.381 3rd: 3.00/.637 ERA/OPS Eovaldi 1st: 3.00/.586 2nd: 2.45/.663 3rd: 1.59/.637
  3. They only had the vast majority of the season left to make up for that one game!
  4. @redsoxstats Brayan Bello has finally joined Mayer, Casas, Yorke, and Duran in the BA Top 100. He is doing some sick things to being this year, like being a starting pitcher and having a higher swinging strike rate than ace relievers German and Wallace, +40% on Walter's, +90% on Groome's.
  5. It'd look better if Duran was ready. The guys behind him (Bleis, Rafaela, Jimenez) are still a long ways away.
  6. His FIP has been over 5 the previous 2 seasons. He's pitching great now and being pulled early. Seems like it's working so it must be necessary.
  7. It didn't slow up the game at all. It would have had no measurable impact on the game if the announcers didn't guffaw over it.
  8. But being 2 games back in May is basically meaningless due to the amount of games left and the sample size you're looking at.
  9. It's just about stocking up on guys that can go more than one inning at a time. Also, by getting rid of the LOOGY guys and one batter stints, it spreads the innings out more equitably among relief staffs.
  10. They pulled Wacha after 60 pitches and the game was still over in 2.5 hours. I don't see how anyone could complain about how that game went.
  11. The problem is that there was a period of time where pitch counts were the big thing and you would monitor how close a guy got to 100 pitches. That was the focus every game. Guy is at 85 pitches, maybe he gets taken out after the inning, maybe he faces a few more batters. Now, it's times through the order. It's just another way of looking at effectiveness.
  12. Good news is that they can just sign Benintendi this offseason if they really want him back.
  13. Wacha's hard hit % is 35.3 which is basically what it was from 2015-19. His xERA is 3.15, so it'd be dumb to not expect some sort of regression. One of the bigger changes is the pitches he's throwing. His cutter had a +12 run value (yuck) and was his worst pitch last year. He's almost cut it's usage in half. Probably needs to cut it even more since it has a hard hit % of 53.8 this season and has a .624 SLG. Cut it with the Cutter!
  14. Why would you put a cat in the bag, you monster?
  15. They only have 4 more innings than league average.
  16. High average and OBP, he only has 3 XBH though. His hard hit % is bottom 30% in the league. He's just reduced his k rate and gotten a little lucky (406 BABIP).
  17. Every baseball game should be 2 hours and 23 minutes.
  18. And Diekman did his job. Brasier came in and looked great. Sox then scored more runs so they could bring Low Leverage Sawamura in.
  19. Seems like the time to make the move?
  20. 2 hits from Cordero and 2 from JBJ. HR’s from JD and Raffy. Pitching gives up 0 runs. Game ends in 2.5 hours. Today was a good day.
  21. @IanMBrowne Josh Taylor (back) had a setback and the clock has stopped on his rehab assignment.
  22. Chaim against eating at Outback whatsoever.
  23. Davis in on MLB.com (I thought he was a pitcher), but Danish is not? I usually just go with them.
