  1. He has a more advanced SS glove than the other guys in the system, but it's not saying much. I guess Downs has looked better there this season too.
  2. They moved him off position to make use of his speed. Instead of admitting their error and moving him back, they are just keeping him in the OF.
  3. I'd put him in LF. I also advocated for opening a spot on the roster for him by trading Verdugo in the offseason as I thought Verdugo was one of the few guys that had some trade value (age, contract, etc).
  4. Well I'm glad your eyes are much better than actual scouts that don't want him to play CF.
  5. Wrong. So very wrong. That's Trot Nixon.
  6. What does that have to do with it not being a team discount? It was the highest 2b contract at the time it was signed. It was long and due to his playing style, it was destined that Dustin was going to be in the dust bin before that contract was over.
  7. They should have traded him in 2014.
  8. I don't care about saves, but they have to get rid of blown saves. Giving a pen a blown save for allowing a tie run in the 6th inning is dumb. It causes brown diaper fans to wonder why their team doesn't have a true closer.
  9. Also, Duran's glove is putrid. I'm not sure you want to pencil him in for CF for 150 games. Also, the idea that you'd move to Devers to 1b for one year (after he is having a really solid year at 3b) to keep Casas down is silly.
  10. Koss also has a 27% k rate in AA (not bad) with a 2% bb rate (horrible). He's a UTIL player, not a starting SS.
  11. Yes, there are cool and unsafe areas in both cities.
  12. Erase Story, Sale, JD.
  13. No, Vince said "It was me Austin. It's me Austin. It was me all along. You bought it."
  14. If they were waiting on us, they would have put Whitlock or Houck there already. Clearly the tea leaves revealed them a deeper mystery.
  15. @alexspeier As noted by @soxnotes , Xander Bogaerts is expected to play his 1,094th career game at SS for the Red Sox today, making him the all-time leader in games played at SS for the Red Sox. He'll break a tie with Everett Scott, who played 1,093 games at short for the Sox from 1914-1921.
  16. Let me rephrase my response. "Would he current front office have re-signed Sale."
  17. Things could always be worse. It's the 10th anniversary of the Daniel Bard game. https://www.fangraphs.com/wins.aspx?date=2012-06-03&team=Red%20Sox&dh=0 https://www.talksox.com/forum/threads/15640-June-3-2012-Red-Sox-Blue-Jays
  18. People on here tend to go back and forth about who offered what to who and when, but we never really have the details. None of us really know the inner workings of the FO. When I think of "Bloom" and the GM position, which he's technically the CBO, I just lump the entire front office and ownership group together. I don't think Bloom is running this as a lone wolf. I think he's working with other individuals and getting contracts approved by Henry and others in ownership. It's never really just "one guy." Henry: Principal Owner/Crypt Keeper Werner: Chairman/Muppet Kennedy: President and CEO/Talking Head Chaim Bloom: Chief Baseball Officer/Fall Guy Briain O'Halloran: General Manager/Wait if this guy is the GM why aren't people blaming this guy more? Others of note: Ben Crockett, Eddie Romero, Michael Groopman
  19. According to Statcast: Devers is 0 OAA this year. So he's an average defender. Seems fine to me.
  20. Contracts that large probably always are run through ownership. Hard to parse out which person in the FO made which decision.
  21. He was a s***** GM for those years. He also sucked in 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2011.
  22. Some people were saying he was the greatest GM of all time right after the CC signing.
  23. Don't go too crazy about a guy with 13 innings pitched.
  24. But what about the moves he's potentially NOT going to make?
