  1. Manfred basically said that he'd make sure local MLB rights would be handled, but there would still be issues over the short term for many fans. MLB is propped up by tv revenue that I don't entirely believe is real. I bet Henry knows exactly how much he's making off of NESN. These other owners are just making the tv money second hand.
  2. I know I bag on Henry a lot, but at least NESN isn't going into the toilet yet. While Diamond Sports Group appears set to default on $140 million in interest payments, a move which is expected to trigger a bankruptcy filing in the coming weeks, its 19 Bally Sports properties aren’t the only RSNs feeling a financial pinch. According to multiple league, finance and network sources, the three AT&T SportsNet brands in recent weeks have handed over lighter-than-expected envelopes to their respective MLB franchise partners. An executive with direct knowledge of the RSNs’ financial dealings confirmed to Sportico that the AT&T outlets in Denver, Houston and Pittsburgh submitted their most recent rights payments to their MLB clubs in a timely fashion, although the disbursements were not commensurate with the contracted rates. The teams impacted by the shortfall are the Colorado Rockies, Houston Astros and Pittsburgh Pirates. The precise amount of the funds withheld is not known but is said to be significant enough to have catalyzed concerns about the long-term viability of the three networks.
  3. What the hell?
  4. Since they are now playing every NL team, will they be swapping fields next season with their opponents (i.e. the play MIA at home this year, but would pay MIA away next season)?
  5. For BOS? Less than 25%. Maybe a platoon bat? IDK.
  6. His bat needs to carry him at every level. There are some questions about it. We’ll see if he struggles with the cold weather early on or if he pushes to WOO.
  7. He hasn’t hit well at AA. Slow bat. No position. That limits his outlook.
  8. His wRC+ is trending towards Simmons levels too.
  9. Most FCL guys start off low in the rankings. Rafaela, Bonaci, Paulino weren't all top 20 guys. Bleis was kind of an exception as he got a big bonus up front and there were lots of people high on his potential from day one. The highest ranked INTL signing from 2023 started off at 49. None of the others are ranked at all. You have to give those guys a little bit to develop. I believe even Kavadas' first ranking was 40 or higher.
  10. Walter has always been old for his league. I want to see him at least perform at AAA before I even consider him for MLB.
  11. Dalbec has a career 12.8 UZR/150 at SS.
  12. What if Sale is the ace of the rotation?
  13. Henry dumped DD because they weren't aligned. Henry doesn't want to spend. DD does. Henry fired him.
  14. That's not a thing.
  15. Mata was much higher ranked than everyone on that list but Bello. Bello is the only decent comp. However, I don't think people see Bello as having top of the rotation profile. He's probably a 3? Maybe he's a 2 if everything breaks right? IDK. Mata just showed a lot more potential at an earlier age. Bello just popped recently. Perales is interesting, but has been outright dismissed by a lot of national guys as he just hasn't been healthy.
  16. The makeup concerns were because of his father.
  17. No, he didn't.
  18. Cora had a meeting with Dalbec, who arrived early to camp. Dalbec will play a lot of third with Devers at WBC and will also see time at first and shortstop
  19. This is what McCaffrey’s tweet says: Jansen is slightly behind because and his family were sick this winter and he need to stop workouts. He won't go to WBC and wants to stay in Sox camp to work on pitch clock and getting to know the team
  20. I didn’t say slow start.
  21. Today was the first day of pitchers and catchers and he's not going to the WBC now, so I'm not really worried.
  22. They treat those guys like pokémon.
  23. Very debatable.
  24. I summarized the article fine enough. The conclusion was Groome had been a consensus top pick in the draft at one point and was seen as a top of the rotation starter similar to Kershaw. Groome didn't fall due to his talent as harmony's first post initially suggested. He fell due to "character" and "signability" as the agent wanted a 4M bonus and his recent de-commitment from Vandy to Chipola which would allow him to re-enter the draft a year earlier if he didn't come to an agreement the team that drafted him.
  25. He is in the lower quintile in BB%. Sox are trying to get away from that type of pitcher. Maybe also don't like the profile of a guy that throws a slider 60% of the time?
