  1. Hide it under a bushel? NO!
  2. Could be a safe bet. Maybe treats it "more like a business."
  3. Only the Mets have their numbers. We can deduce what is included in the Mets numbers when we look at what the Braves have presented.
  4. That's why I put him as "maybe" because it would take an additional move. He's pitched well this spring.
  5. Both the starting LFer and RFer were still playing in the WBC last night. We'll have to see how their defense can hold up. I agree on Mayer. He has a skillset that could rocket him through the organization. I'm bullish on his timeline.
  6. Not in a galaxy far far away where sarlacc pits exist.
  7. Sherriff maybe.
  8. That’s Operating Loss. It ignores a lot of other Mets derived revenue that comes in and goes into the owner’s pockets (tv, real estate, etc.).
  9. Cohen could absorb any sort of loss like that most likely. I'm just saying that their current payroll isn't high enough for the Mets to take a loss. The owners are just generating less net income.
  10. We know from the Braves' filings that MLB teams make much more than 200M. He's not fronting any money for that payroll, especially in NY.
  11. There are serious concerns with NBA dynasties, which existed long before the cap appeared in that league.
  12. There are many pitchers that come back from long layoffs (Whitlock) and thrive. Why would this not be the case for Noah Song was just frozen in carbonite for the Navy? Sure, he's suffering from hibernation sickness. As long as Song doesn't fall into the sarlacc pit, which would certainly end his pitching career, he should be able to stick on the active roster for 90 parsecs.
  13. Oh, you think he just forgot how to pitch over the past 3 years?
  14. Since 06, the NFL has had 13 different champs. I think NBA has a particular problem that is not associated with the cap.
  15. Since initiating the cap in 06, the NHL has had 12 different champs!
  16. Vaz had 0.4 fWAR over 138 games in 2021. That's a pretty low floor TBH. The only year McGuire was under that was 2020 when he only had 45 PA's. Seems like another common moonsLav misconception!
  17. I watched the Mexico/Puerto Rico game and the US/Venezuela game. It's been fun enough. The pitchers can be a very mixed bag. It appears that the better hitters are just hitting off a tee sometimes. I don't know how serious the tournament needs to be, but if some of the pitchers aren't going to ever show up, it can just be a quirk of the schedule going forward. Injuries happen at the WBC, but injuries happen in ST too. Gavin Lux is out for the year running from 2B to 3B. It's just the nature of participating in a sport. These guys need to ramp up for the season somehow anyway. Overall, I think it's good for the game. IMO, a few of the countries in the tournament shouldn't have fielded a team. If you can't even get 10 people onto the roster that were born from that country, don't let them into the tournament.
  18. No, BASEBALL sticks out like a sore thumb because there is no real cap.
  19. They are Mets fans. I think they want a Championship. I was fine that the Sox had to let a bunch of people go after 2004. I understood that my favorite player was going to go elsewhere. I wasn't a baby about it.
  20. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2023-positional-power-rankings-catcher/ FanGraphs put their positional power rankings up, starting with Catcher. 19. Red Sox Surprisingly high? I guess that's just the state of the position these days... McGuire/née McGee is projected to have 1.8 fWAR. Christian Vazquez is projected to have 2.1 fWAR, but makes 9M more per year for the next 3 years.
  21. Koss can play multiple IF positions. Yorke can barely play 2b. Koss has a suspect bat. Yorke has a high ceiling bat that could move to a corner OF position if it plays up.
  22. They haven't won in 37 years. I think the fans will be ok with tax hell for a decade as a trade off if it came to that.
  23. Maybe it's just too obvious when people observe his bullpens?
  24. @SPChrisHatfield Wong is going back and forth between the AAA and AA games, hitting first every inning to make up at-bats. Typical procedure when an MLB guy is making up for lost time. Funny thing is because the games aren't right next to each other as usual he has to take a cart back and forth. Should be in MLB ST games this week.
  25. The real problem is OB and is just generic vanilla ice cream. It does the job, but you need to add a lot to it. I'd like to see Monaco be given a heavier load this year. He's more engaging. With a faster paced game, I think Monaco and Merloni could be decent to watch.
