  1. Diamond Sports Group had until the end of today to pay the Padres their scheduled rights fee and has decided not to do so. Tonight will mark the final Padres game that airs on Bally Sports. Moving forward, MLB is expected to take control of broadcasts.
  2. I like the strategy. I’m not sold they are the ones to do it.
  3. Command or control?
  4. Ehhh, people kept posting in last game after I had posted the new thread. Easy mistake. No harm done. Without more active mods, no way to merge.
  5. We don’t know how much throwing he was doing. It’s kind of a mystery. I don’t think he’s injured. He’s “injured.”
  6. Xander in May: 528 OPS Having wrist trouble and Pads are reluctant to put him on IL.
  7. 1B don't generally earn a lot of value in the field. Even a fairly decent fielder like Mitch Moreland tended to have negative dWAR. He'd get more value if he played 50% at 3B.
  8. Song is currently on a throwing program and facing live hitters. My guess is that it's not that much different than what the Sox could do. The only difference is that the Phillies are limited in how long they can leave him in the minors this season. I don't think it's hurting him right now. If they try to rush him to MLB and stash him on the bench, that'd be a different story.
  9. Drohan currently has a 100% HR/FB rate in AAA. That's surely going to continue!
  10. I hope he turns it around this season and plays well. I hold no ill will. I just don't know how much longer he can keep up this level of performance. The 2023 Sox needed a Justin Turner, not a JD Martinez.
  11. Had to quickly log in for FREDDY VALDEZ?!?!? Like we were chomping at the bit for some Freddy Valdez action.
  12. @redsoxstats Some of the moves in the Mayer wake include Christian Koss to Worcester, Theo Denlinger to Worcester, Christopher Troye (37 K, 18.1 IP) to Portland. Denlinger to WOO sounds about right! Koss probably should have been in AAA anyway.
  13. Benintendi 0.4 fWAR Winckowski 0.5 fWAR Beni isn't even better than a relief pitcher anymore. Sad!
  14. Bello vs Lively Tapia Devers Turner Masa Duran Casas Kiké Valdez McGuire
  15. Because he's better in shorter stints than longer ones.
  16. Figured the age of this board leaned more towards cribbage anyway.
  17. 4/13/21 - 10/3/22 804 OPS isn't really cherry picking. That's a long f***ing time. 2020 - 2022 (all 3 years combined) 806 OPS
  18. I think some of us agree that the decision to go over in '22 was foolhardy. Some wanted to sell midseason. I know the smartest and most handsomest of us wanted to sell some of our most expensive players prior the beginning of the season.
  19. The year 2 penalty isn't a big concern IMO. It's a jump from 20% to 30%. It's the year 3 that's the problem. Going over for 2 years and resetting seems like a reasonable take if you are not quite in the hunt.
  20. 10 years would get them to 2029. At that point, they'd be talking about Bello/Casas QO's. That's probably too far down the line, right? There isn't even a prospect in the SP Top 30 with an ETA after 2027.
  21. So in the 5 year plan, the 5th year is the fully formed year? Or is that year 6?
  22. After throwing at the complex, they'll probably rehab him in low A and see how he does. My guess is that DD still tries to hold onto him for the whole year out of spite unless Song is just a shell of what he once was.
  23. Yes, it's confusing and kinda s***** especially in this situation. If he's active for the last 5 games of this year, he'd have to be active for 85 games next season.
  24. He's getting paid MLB money though!
