  1. George Brett was a third baseman, jesus. Is it so hard to name a good CF like DiMaggio or Mantle? No one is saying Gardner is going to be a HoF 3B.
  2. Well I don't see how. Show me? I already showed you they're both good basestealers (which actually means nothing) and they both cover a lot of ground. And Ells played 546.2 Inn in CF last year. Gardner had 160, that's a considerable difference. If you take Gardner's 66.3 UZR and project it to 600 Inn. I'm sure you get a UZR of around 5-10. Which is as good as Ellsbury. Ellsbury has better power, and can hit for more average. But the difference is not that big. Considering Gardner's power is zero. Don't try to make Ellsbury sound like an All-Star. I've been objective when talking about Ellsbury, he's going to be a solid CF. Funny, you're the one that always says I'm biased.
  3. Ellsbury's SB% (MiLB ): 80% Gardner's SB% (MiLB ): 83% Ellsbury's UZR (2008): 5.3 in CF. Gardner's UZR (2008): 66.3 in CF. (Small sample size of 160 Inn, but he's definitely around 5 on a full season). Swing and miss. Again Ellsbury is better, but not that MUCH better.
  4. How is Damon in his prime comparable to Ellsbury? Seriously. Gardner-Crisp seems fair. How is Ellsbury a MUCH better player than Gardner?
  5. There's nothing wrong with that. Ellsbury is better of course, more power and less Ks. In the end the only thing that matters is OBP. They both have the same career OBP in the minors .389. So the comparison is fair, but don't make it sound like Ellsbury is so much better.
  6. Well it might be possible. Look at Cliff Lee.
  7. I'd go with Damon/Swisher/Gardner in CF. I'm sure Joe will find enough ABs for everyone.
  8. Idiot comments? Comes from a guy that compared Dan Bard with Joba Chamberlain. Jesus, at least use Buchholz. "He's our Joba" because both throw 100 mph, amazing scouting. Joba Chamberlain: A starter with a plus fastball and a plus plus slider. Both grade out near the max on the 20-80 scouts scale. His curveball is considered by some as a plus pitch that grades at 70. Both his slider and curveball are strikeout pitches. His changeup is average, but solid. His ceiling is a #1 starter. He was graded as A+ as a prospect. Above average command and he's already in the big leagues. Daniel Bard: Bard sits at 98 with his fastball. "Average" command (last year). Everything else is developing. Oh and he's a reliever. So that says enough about his ceiling. Joba was drafted in 2006 (Like Bard) and made his MLB debut in August 2007, after annihilating three minor league levels, whiffing 135 batters in 88 innings in his first pro season. In the meantime, Bard had a BB/9 of 9.5 as a 22 year old in A/A+. So your point is that we have to wait until 2011 to see Bard's potential? You realize they have the same age, right? Joba could also improve a little, considering he has 4 MLB pitches NOW. As a starter or reliever, I would take Joba over Bard anytime.
  9. The comparison with Youk is fair. He could be a sleeper.
  10. IPK is an ace in AAA.
  11. He already had TJ, came back last year a tossed 95 IPs dominating three levels. They worked with him the entire year cleaning his mechanics. He's also a good athlete with a tremendous work ethic. It's unfair to compare him with Joba.
  12. Pettite is better. And isn't Wake their #5?
  13. Or Kotsay.
  14. Bowden at 83, seems kinda low. Bard at 98 is okay.
  15. ^ I never said that. Just look, he ranked Coke and Aceves ahead of Melancon, that's stupid. Best case outcome: Closer (Not as good as Rivera, never) More likely outcome: Set-up man Worst case: Middle reliever.
  16. That's the same Kevin Goldstein that ranked Pedro Alvarez as the #4 prospect in baseball. Ahead of guys like Travis Snider, Rick Porcello and others. Pass.
  17. I read he will be used as an utility infielder. I know the Dodgers now have one the best defensive middle infields on the majors. But the move is kinda overkill.

  19. Yeah sorry. You seem to know a lot about that. s*** expert
