    O rly? You seem to forget Jason Varitek was a top-5 offensive catcher in '99, and '03-'05, posting .850 plus OPS's on each of those years and also OPS+ at or over 101 for each of those 4 seasons. You need to check your standards if you consider Jason Varitek to "never have been much with the bat". Oh, and he also received MVP votes in each '03, '04, and '05.

    Holy f*** that was so f***ing intense i mean it was like playoff ball and Torii went BOOM!, and then i was like "OH f***" and then Morales goes "BRRRRRRRROM" into 2nd and i was like, "OH CRAP", and then he pwn3d Aybar and when Napoli got up to bat i was like "HERE WE GO AGAIN WITH THE GODDAMN ITALIAN CATCHER" but then he walked and then Paps pwn3d Aybar and i was like "YAY!" but then Fiiggins took the walk and i was like "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" and then Kendrick was fouling off everything and i was like "SON OF A BITCH" and then he flied out and i was like "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY". That about sums up my 9th inning experience.

    Ramon Ramirez could go from good to elite if he could change speeds a bit more dramatically. IMHO, he should use his Curve a little more.

    His mechanics'll come around, but he does seem to be over-striding into his swing, imho, he's starting his swing before he finishes rotating his hip, and he won't be able to get his timing down or generate any sort of power unless he re-arranges his swing.

    Wow. A quality start for Penny right off the bat, and nice way to end it blowing that 95 MPH heat past Morales.

    5 3-ER innings, not the greatest performance, yet passable. However, not sure if anyone else noticed, but Penny lived off of FBs and changeups exclusively, seeing as he didn't use his curveball, which is his 2nd best pitch, (prolly trying to keep himself in the game longer), he might be much more effective in future starts once he completely integrates his breaking pitches to his arsenal.
