  1. The problem is that we're talking about an utility IF here, which Eric Hinske is not.
  2. You're forced to play Scutaro as a starter somewhere. Besides that, you both underestimate what Florida could ask for Hanley, they know he's the best offensive SS in the league, so they probably ask for a package more impressive than for Gonzo, and the 5 years he has left on his contract with a max salary of 16 million is literally a bargain.
  3. I don't think Florida goes for that package. And you create a hole that forces Hermida/Reddick to be the LF tandem. You also propose a LHH/LHH platoon at LF.
  4. He can be as fat as he wants if he's putting up .943 OPS seasons. Prince Fielder can attest to that.
  5. Reliever Mariano Rivera LHSP Johan Santana RHSP Roy Halladay Catcher Jorge Posada First Base Albert Pujols Second Base Jeff Kent Short Stop Derek Jeter Third Base Chipper Jones Left Field Barry Bonds Center Field Carlos Beltran Right Field Vlad Guerrero Designated Hitter David Ortiz
  6. There's not way to know what Hanley would cost, of if the Marlins are willing to move him.
  7. Good point, he's a special talent.
  8. That would completely sacrifice the future for short-term success, specifically in the case of Konerko. I find it strange to read such a proposition from Doiji, to be honest. (This is not an attack, just pointing out he has always professed he wouldn't mind this being a "step back year" if it will for an improved club in the future).
  9. The Sox made a legitimate offer to the Padres for Adrian Gonzales. The rest is up to them. If the Sox didn't want to build a championship team, they wouldn't be fielding the most expensive Red Sox ballclub in history next season after shelling out over 100 million dollars in FA's. You guys say one thing, but the FO's actions point the other way, and actions speak louder than words.
  10. IMO he wasn't lucky to get Lincecum and Cain. If you strike twice with Ace-caliber pitchers in drafts so close to each other, you know what you're doing. Luck plays a pivotal part of course, but not the most important one.
  11. How is it more realistic to trade for a player whose FO hasn't expressed a willingness to trade than a player whose FO is publicly open to trading, and whose GM has even asked for specific player if a trade were to happen?
  12. As much as i'd love to get Hanley, i just don't think he's getting moved, and as Rdsxmbnt says, if you do get him, then Konerko doesn't fit.
  13. Nick Johnsonn is one of the toughest outs in MLB, if you want to talk about spoiling pitches and making pitchers work, he has to be at the top of your list. A Matsui-like season from Johnsonn while providing better OBP and more PPA is not out of the question.
  14. Why should it? He s*** the bed with the Zito signing, but his overall body of work is not even close to being the worse.
  15. Honestly, right now Ramirez might be more of a sure thing offensively than Kotchman, and that is a testament to Kotchman's enormous amount of suck.
  16. This actually makes a lot of sense, i'm personally of the opinion that Theo plans to play the waiting game before getting a big bat at/around the TDL, with its current run prevention unit, this team could hold its ground until said big bat becomes available.
