  1. Upon further research, i have uncovered the following points to further cement Blyleven's case (thanks to Craig Calcaterra at NBC sports and Rich Lederer of The Baseball Analysts) who each wrote the following pieces, one more serious than the other: Craig Calcaterra's random facts: Rich Lederer's The Hall Of Fame Case for Bert Blyleven:
  2. Lousy record? He won 287 games on teams with a career .511 win percentage. Not to mention win-loss records (like RBI's) are the worst gauge of a pitcher's (hitter's) worth because they rely on opportunity. The fact that pitchers with weaker statistical resumes than Blyleven have better records doesn't support your argument. It supports mine.
  3. Kevin Youkilis had an XBH every 9.18 Plate appearances. He hit a home run every 21.7 plate appearances. Jason Bay had an XBH every 9.38 Plate appearances. He hit a home run every 17.7 plate appearances. They were really not that far apart.
  4. They should clone Lester too. A rotation of: Lester Lester Lester Lester Lester Would be sick.
  5. So BB should suffer from being on s***** teams most of the time? Would you feel the same way if he had played on the Reds or Yankees in the 70's, and the Phillies in the 80's?
  6. Not in the above post, (even though it is a doomsday device post) But how about not hitting on the road, they will only score 810 runs on less, etc etc etc.
  7. The 2009 playoffs offense sample size was three games. Bay didn't help with a .489 OPS (1 for 8 with three walks, the one being a single) As for Beltre, how about mentioning that before he had shoulder and testicle issues last year, he hit at least 25 homers three years in a row in one of the most righty-power suppressing stadiums in MLB, the diminishing games played year-to-year were a direct result of the shoulder injury that ended up requiring surgery to remove bone spurs. Also, if you use OPS+ (which accounts for stadium factors) Beltre and Lowell have been virtually the same performer over the last four years, and you also forgot about Scutaro, who's an upgrade all things being said. About Lowell: Spot for Lowell will emerge. Epstein says he might stay with the ballclub depending on what happens.
  8. ^Lol. You say one thing, the statistics show another, and i'll believe the statistics. What pressure are you talking about? This is a team that will score over 800 runs, and won't put as much pressure on the pitching staff on the road. We don't get bent out of shape because "you show problems with the roster" but because you make a ton of s*** up and ignore the statistical or logical evidence that goes against everything you say. Please stop making s*** up. Like Imperial59 said you have a new "This is the Sox' biggest problem" every other day. It's tiring.
  9. Nice find. Kudos.
  10. Exactly what i was about to post. Which Huff shows up?
  11. You can see sincerity in my words. You know 'tis the truth.
  12. Hahahaha. Since you're my man, i shall refrain from "butthurt" and refer to it as "Hurt Yankee pride".
  13. It has been said, which is why you slot in Varitek for around 55-60 starts, but there are a lot of options regarding this issue. Varitek can still mash lefties, specially at home. So there are plenty of scenarios where V-Mart can play DH or 1B.
  14. http://www.lifelounge.com/resources/IMGTHUMB/LeaveBritneyAlone_thumbnail.jpg http://www.thehollywoodgossip.com/images/gallery/chris-crocker-cries.jpg Leave Francisco Cervelli alone!!!!! With this coaching staff, he's the next Joe Mauer!!!!!
  15. f***. The Baker factor. Let's hope he bites the dust before the kid gets promoted to MLB.
  16. I'm sure the Red Sox know fully well about Varitek's offensive woes and where and when he should be played to be more effective. Expect most of his games to be at Fenway and against lefties.
