  1. Let's say the bench is Hermida, Hulett, Lowell, and Varitek, if they carry 12 pitchers, how do you fit 26 players into a 25-man roster? Not to mention overall, Hall is a better player and better fit than Hulett, and it's really not debatable.
  2. I never said anything about fighting. What i meant was that if Lowell was traded he could certainly call me out on it and i wouldn't be offended, which is exactly the opposite of the way you guys took it.
  3. Bill Hall is a RHH who can play the OF. It's really that simple.
  4. Ortiz has taken 14 AB in ST. 14 AB's. He's a question mark for sure, but come on. The real reason why the Sox should kee,p Lowell around is not only as Ortiz protection, but because for what they'd probably end up getting back for him after his latest surgery, they're better off keeping him. They can get him a significant number of AB's if he's healthy. Specially if he shows he can play some 1st base. Then he really becomes an asset.
  5. I'm willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that he stays with the team. I have no way to confirm it, but i have a gut about it. Feel free to rub my face in it if he gets traded.
  6. And to clarify that statement before i get more guns pointed at me than a White dude with a Slayer shirt in Compton, there are numerous issues with leaving out any of the projected four bench members (Hermida, Hall, Lowell, Varitek) for a guy like Tug Hulett or whoever else might be considered. You leave out Hall, you don't have another righty OF besides Cameron, not to mention a true utility player, you leave Lowell, you don't have a righty power bat in case Ortiz stinks up the joint versus lefties, leave Hermida out, you're missing on both his potential and don't have a true fourth OF, and Varitek for the obvious reasons. Not a knock on Hulett, but the Sox bench, as currently constructed, seems like a very big strength, and messing with it might not be a good idea.
  7. That's a pretty general statement. There are knowledgeable Yankee fans on the board (Yankees228) who respect the Red Sox organization as much as they demand respect for the Yankee organization. But i'm just arguing for the sake of arguing. Keep the "Jacko-bashfests" coming.
  8. Whether or not other posters are homers is not my problem. However, most of the Red Sox fans here acknowledge the fact that the Yankees are a superior team (on paper) and don't try to turn every little bad thing the Yankees may have into a forecast of the doom of the organization. I'm just sayin'.
  9. IF Tug Hulett makes the opening day roster, this team is in serious trouble.
  10. That's about it for me.
  11. The Twins have agreed to a 5-year extension with Denard Span. Details still unknown. Twins, Span agree to five-year deal.
  12. Jesus Christ. Ok, they think Bucholz will be the next Halladay. I give up.
  13. Honest question: Are you stupid? What i'm trying to say here is that the article is not a comparison between Halladay and Bucholz, but how, because of similar career paths and some statistical similarities, Bucholz could be primed for a breakout that could resemble Halladay's. Premise A: Bucholz will become the next Roy Halladay. Premise B: If X happens, Bucholz could have a breakout similar to Roy Halladay's. Seem very different to me.
  14. 54 guys hit 25 HR's last year, and a lot of them (like Jose Lopez) didn't reach the 90-RBI plateau because of their respective team's offensive futility or some (Like Hunter Pence) because of the position in the lineup they hit in. Finding a power guy to DH is simply not as difficult as you're trying to make it seem. There are always possibilities.
  15. We're saying if he can't provide that. I say he hits 30 and drives in more than 95. But the fact that he's a question mark cannot be argued.
  16. 25-HR, 90+ RBI year? If he doesn't provide that, the Sox have the resources to find someone who can. Specially at DH. I don't know how you can try to dispute that.
  17. Less than 20 AB's into Spring Training?
  18. sigh. No one has compared Bucholz to Halladay. Aren't they waiting for you to empty the bedpans?
  19. Yet another full-fledged display of intellectual analysis from Jacko.
  20. Beltre doesn't need to improve on his Safeco numbers, for one, a 25 HR, 30 2B year with a BA around .265 is good enough. No one is expecting Scutaro to repeat 2009, but to play to his slightly above-league average offensive line. The only real question mark in this lineup is David Ortiz, and he's actually the easiest hitter to replace. It's really that simple.
  21. Either you didn't read the article, or you're not smart enough to comprehend what the discussion is about. Either way, annoying as usual.
