  1. Wonder how long 'till the "Hermida for DH!!!111!!!" posts start.
  2. So Lester doesn't have any fault of the SB? He could at least keep an eye on the runner.
  3. Francona's an interesting case. He's a so-so tactician, but his real value comes from being able to control the raging Boston media, and keeping a clubhouse that's usually filled with high-price talent mellow and loose. Players love him, the media loves him, and we should appreciate that those traits outweigh any and all "mental lapses" if we can call them that, that he has on the field.
  4. Fixed, specially since it has the Guardians in it.
  5. Some not-so-smart armchair managers as well. Creator of this thread being a perfect example.
  6. Wow V-Mart......right down Broadway.....
  7. Again, you're not "sold" on Bay's knee and shoulder issues. How many medical records did you have acces to?
  8. rhet, you and a700 are different cases, because your problem is not an undying love for players, but an undying love for the legendary beast known as the "RBI".
  9. I think his point on amount of playing time is a sensible one though.
  10. I honestly don't. Span, Mauer and Morneau are excellent, but Kubel has horrible platoon issues, his counterpart is, well, Delmon Young, Thome can still mash but LHP can also neutralize him. Their offense will be highly productive, but it overachieved last year, and some their luck with RISP is bound to regress. A full season of Morneau might be just what they need, though. I don't discount the possibility of them being better, but exaggerating to the point of "That might be the best 3-4 in baseball" simply to accentuate the "fact" that he tries to convey really irks me.
  11. Not surprising. The other weakness is LHP. They have a very very good lineup, but until we can see what each lineup does over a significant sample size, you can't go ahead and claim the Twins lineup will be better. Textbook example of why you rile people up by running your mouth. Just sayin'.
  12. The strawman is Gom's bread and butter. Never claimed they signed them using the money allocated for Bay. Instead i claimed they signed all three of them, regardless of financial issues, which is your typical non--logical claim when addressing the Sox FO. "But but but.....they could spend more but they choose not to!!!111!!!". If you could read, you'd have gotten it right away. Gom crashes and burns again.
  13. Oh yeah, you obviously had access to his medical records. The Sox were bullshitting and there was really nothing wrong with his knees, they simply didn't wanna spend the money. But oh, wait, John Lackey.......Meaning it was Beltre, Cameron, and John Lackey instead of Bay.
  14. But apparent is not the same as fact. We're running in circles. It is what it is.
  15. You convenientely ignore the "Red Sox pessmism" that goes along with the "Yankee optimism". You don't like it when we say it, but it IS a Red Sox forum. He could refrain from making some statements that he knows will rub people the wrong way, but makes them regardless. The Ellsbury assesment today is a clear example. I personally don't root for him to go, and i don't care about his analysis of Yankee prospects etc etc etc, but the relentless negativity about the Sox as a team and as an organization is tiring. Read his post about the opening day festivities at Fenway for a textbook example. They're cheesy, Pedro throwing the first pitch sucked etc etc etc. Jesus Christ.
  16. The fact that they took the most money is fact, the appearance of other factors is conjecture (When referring to FA's who chose the Yanks over the Sox).
