  1. A lot of pitchers deal with chronic issues, try to pitch through it, can't get people out, then retire. Sound familiar?
  2. Not just about Foulke, but in general. Foulke is merely a known example to us Sox fans.
  3. But plenty of pitchers have developed soft tissue injuries that don't require surgery, and are degenerative in nature. Again, is it impossible for such an issue to prop up during the playoff run? I don't understand the interest in specifying that it's impossible.
  4. I spent some time with Spud when I lived in the US.
  5. Quick question: Is it categorically impossible that pitching multiple high-pitch count, high-stress innings in the playoffs during 2004 created an injury that derailed the rest of Foulke's career?
  6. Bro, what part of "it takes one bad throw due to a mechanical error" and "fatigue increases the likelihood of this happening" is the sticking point? An injury can happen anytime, anywhere, under any circumstance, but it is absolutely, definitively logical to assume that throwing lots of pitches in consecutive days increases the likelihood merely by chance. We're not arguing Foulke specifically, which is why I prefaced with "my issue is the generalization", but overuse during the playoffs may have very well been the straw that broke the camel's back. You deny it categorically, I say it's a possibility. Ask Robb Nen.
  7. You're probably fun at parties.
  8. All I'm sayin'. Epstein's brilliant in general, but he's a baseball mind with connections to both Breslow (who he worked with on an FO capacity) and Bailey (who he signed as a player).
  9. Him I could probably take. I'm kinda scared of Bellhorn though, out of the lot of ya. Canadians always with the "sorry eh", but we all know, judging by their national sport, the rage they carry within.
  10. The problem is the generalization. I'm not saying the same thing, I'm saying things are not black and white. A guy can get wrecked because of years of overuse, or one bad pitch because he's fatigued. It can also be, as you say, because of a bad offseason routine. These things are not mutually exclusive.
  11. You sure about that? Because one failed rep (throw) can absolutely wreck a rotator cuff and end a guy's career. Fatigue and constant stress on a joint greatly increases the risk of such an event.
  12. It's 20 to 25 C here on the daily until it starts getting hot as balls around March
  13. Wait, you actually met YOTN?
  14. On a schedule. Any one of you could probably kick my ass too.
  15. Then why give him a minority stake in FSG? That's a lot of money to bring in someone you won't listen to.
  16. I wanna fight all of you IRL
  17. But he could sign some average pitchers to round out this rotation. This team doesn't need Snell or Montgomery to improve on last year's pitching disaster.
  18. You polyanna
  19. Now get that pitching dum-dums!
  20. I doubt Epstein is willing to add his name to this project, unless he's assured the capacity to create an actual outline for what this team is going to do going forward. Try to compete, or full-on rebuild, it doesn't matter, but pick a f***ing lane and stick to it. Goddamn.
  21. What I'm saying is, him trying to drum up a player's price is one thing. But he advises pretty much all of his players to test the market. Burnes is someone who has openly said he wants to test the market too. If they had conflicting opinions that would be a whole other deal. I wouldn't fall of my chair if the O's extend him to a stupid deal, but I doubt it.
  22. I don't see it. If anything, this should reduce Henry et al's involvement in day to day operations and unify the FO's voice. He's getting a partnership stake in FSG. They wouldn't go so high for his services unless it was a truly impact position. Aren't we whining about how cheap he is? He's paying top dollar for Epstein to come back.
