  1. Mauer > Kottaras. Pitcher > Ortiz We lose that exchange.
  2. That was right down the freakin' middle.
  3. Welcome to the National League Minnesota.
  4. Nice hustle by Bailey there.
  5. Be a good time for Pedroia to make some good contact.
  6. He got the job done in his own strange way. Love to see Henn lay an egg here.
  7. So I hear that Jason Varitek is having a pretty decent year.,
  8. I considered Bard too but in the end he's too much of an unknown quantity still. He's probably awesome but there's that element of risk. With Delcarmen even if everything implodes you have a track record to fall back on to justify he pick.
  9. Now you see why I reached for Alex Gordon. MSU might want to think about drafting a 1B and shifting Youks over.
  10. Kind of makes him a good potential for the 'relief ace' role with a solid but lesser closer.
  11. Wouldn't see why. MDC's numbers over the last three years have been dominant, arguably better than Ramon Ramirez and actually better than the majority of closers, and he's got an 8.2 career K/9. I don't know what he has to do to earn a bit of respect as a very good relief pitcher. He's just one of those guys who can't buy himself any love no matter what the numbers look like I guess. Delcarmen has ERA+ of 232 and 141 over the prior 2 years and is at 568 ERA+ this year. We're talking about a very good pitcher here. Also just because I drafted him first of the relievers I'm drafting doesn't necessarily mean he's my closer. Although he probably will be when the chips are down.
  12. I did look around the league at some of the closers. Frankly I wasn't impressed by the guys that are left out there -- at all. The only closers I'd take straight up over Delcarmen are already claimed. Pretty much it was between Delcarmen and J. J. Putz, who is playing a similar role and putting up worse numbers in a lesser league. So at that point you stick with the devil you know. Delcarmen would be a closer right now on at least 18 major league teams.
  13. Probably a bit early for Delcarmen, but the guy's a proven and durable righthanded power arm and I liked him better than most of the closers left out on the market.
  14. Manny Delcarmen, RP
  15. THe illusion is over.
  16. Here I went and got my hopes up. Thanks for the gutpunch, Jon.
  17. And there goes all the good of the grab
  18. I'd forgotten about that. I might switch Dukes to left and Ankiel to right at some point.,
  19. You'll note that in my lineup, Ankiel's in left. I'm aware of those too. He's raw but he does have pretty decent range and a fine arm. Basically, anyone you pick at this point will have some drawbacks. I think Ankiel's rewards are worth his risks at this pont.
  20. Yes, I'm aware he's hurt. I don't think he'll be hurt for the entire 5 years.
  21. I was definitely in the need of some raw power, thus the Ankiel pick. I think I've got a solid balance of offense and defense in my outfield right now. All of Dukes, Ankiel and Granderson are competent on both sides of the baseball, with Granderson and Dukes also offering speed into the bargain.
