  1. Jarrod Saltalamacchia -- longest single name in baseball
  2. I admire his audacity, but... really, Dustin? In front of JASON BAY?
  3. Mr. Bay, it has been awhile. You are due. Get it done.
  4. Would be really freaking great if Penny could hold a lead for 1 inning. For bonus, he could break his habit of allowing RISP's in every frame.
  5. We just let Tallet settle in didn't we?
  6. That's a pretty formidable lineup to be sure.
  7. I know that, I'm not saying he's going to be called up I'm saying he's "in range."
  8. So who DHes, Loney or Pujols?
  9. Good to see others estimating my rotation about the same way I do. I've got far too many Kansas City Royals on my team, but that's an artifact of drafting late and the Royals having a lot of up and coming talent, and the Royals being my "second team." I was floored that Greinke even made it to the second round of this draft.
  10. On the other hand, being in Salem at the end if the year is clear "potential 2010 September callup" territory. Not bad for a 19YO
  11. That's Jacko for ya.
  12. Umm I know you're probably not looking forlogic here but no it isn't. Teixeira replaces Lowell, not Ortiz, in any scenario where he comes to Boston. There was no way this team was not going to have Ortiz as its fulltime DH at least this long into the season no matter who we signed.
  13. I'm pretty sure we should let his talent decide which way he goes. He looks great as a pitcher now but don't prejudge against him as a shortstop just because he's a good pitcher.
  14. I think he was at least partly putting on a show in order to make sure Beckett stayed in the game.
  15. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090529&content_id=5022482&vkey=news_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos Dang, sometimes it seems that guy hangs on by a thread. Kinda sobering. Just another reminder that the Francona era could someday end very abruptly. He's one of the best managers we've ever had so I hope he can stay in baseball for many years, but one of these days this sort of thing isn't going to be a false alarm.
  16. Apparently the promotion was made official yesterday. He deserved it on merit but I honestly thought he'd be held back because of a couple factors -- mostly because there's no real rush seeing how young Kelly is, and also because it makes the concept of Kelly playing shortstop again logistically difficult. Of course, if Kelly's going to put up numbers like these, we may never WANT him to play SS again, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Shortstop is clearly still in Kelly's plans at least, he does have some upside there, and he's still a fair ways from the majors as a pitcher with a lot that can still go wrong. Still, nice to see good work rewarded.
  17. Don't look now but Drive catcher Tim Federowicz is really starting to open some eyes. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Tim_Federowicz&pos=C&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=543148 The folks on the Soxprospects forum have a thread tracking his defense -- not only is "Fed-Ex" a half decent hitter, but apparently he's got the best defensive numbers of all the Sox catchers this season (albeit in the lowest level currently playing ball, but still). He's got a howitzer attached to his right shoulder and seems to call an extremely good game. Might be time to start keeping an eye on the guy.
  18. Actually, knowing the Angels, they'd want Argenis Diaz, Yamaico Navarro and a pitcher.
  19. Hiroki Kuroda's doing fine for the Dodgers.
  20. I'm pretty happy with my guys. The team I assembled so far is more or less an Earl Weaver squad. "Pitching, defense, and the 3 run homer." I've got a dominant ace and lot of innings out of my other starters, a fairly well-balanced lineup and a good deal of power up the middle. If I can score some decent middle relief I should be doing OK.
  21. Way to fold like a wet napkin guys.
  22. Should probably have gone to Ramon Ramirez after the walk to Cuddyer.
