  2. How bad do you have to be to walk Yuniesky Betancourt?
  3. Wow. Could we see a cycle today?
  4. Trade Buchholz and Masterson for him? That might get it if: 1: The Twins decide they aren't contending this year. 2: the Twins don't think they can re-sign Mauer themselves.
  5. The Yankees will never sign a pitcher again until they fix that wind tunnel.
  6. Don't mind Kilo. He's just afraid that somehow the fact that we have Tim Thomas on the roster automatically means Kessel will leave. It's warping his thinking.
  7. This team was deeper than the Hurricanes at forward. Heck at forward we were pretty much deeper than anybody. At defense we were brittle, slow, banged up and shallow, and it showed. We really missed Hunwick and wound up counting on Ferrence, Ward, Montador and Hnidy far too much especially with 2 of them dealing with not insignificant injuries. I wish Manny Fernandez hadn't sucked so bad in the second half. Heck, last year against the Habs even, we had Auld goalie a couple games. We couldn't count on Manny for that, and had to ride Timmy all the way. That's not how we used Thomas in the regular season so I really wasn't surprised that in overtime in game 7 Timmy got tired.
  8. Wideman got in trouble because he was the only guy we had left to make the outlet passes. If the puck is being distributed mostly by one guy, Maurice would have had to have been an idiot not to cotton on to that, and Wideman was exposed by the forecheck -- exactly what the forecheck was designed to do.
  9. I'm far more frustrated at the 5 minutes of unrelenting pressure we ha in Ward's end of the ice where we somehow managed to find a way to fail to score. If we can't beat Ward, than it doesn't matter of Marty Brodeur is our goaltender we're not winning that game. Carolina beat us and Carolina deserved to beat us. They wanted it more and they worked harder for us. Carolina had performers that were at least as bad as our so-called scapegoats. The difference is that they were just that little bit better at finishing off chances. Bearing in mind that our defensive corps was heavily battered and at least 4 of them were injured or rushed back from injury, and also bearing in mind that our worst miscues came from our replacement D-men, I think it might be fair to say that Boston just wasn't the team it was in the regular season and expecting them to play like that team is more than a little unrealistic. We were depending much too heavily on Wideman and as a result, exposed him. Give a lot of credit to Carolina's coaching for that matter. It didn't take a rocket scientist to know that our D was our weak point but Maurice got his players to do what they needed to do to take advantage of it, and Julien had no response.
  10. Now I just need to sort out first base, second base and left field.
  11. Elijah Dukes is a decent performer right now with huge future potential. Between him and Granderson my outfield is shaping up very well indeed.
  12. Elijah Dukes, RF
  13. Don't give up on Hunter too quickly. But I agree that right now there isn't much room for him in our bullpen. Actually Hunter's problem isn't strikeouts. He's got 7 in 9 innings. His problem is that he has to be fine or he'll get tattooed.
  14. Well that's the end of a very intense game and I hate the game alll the more for that. Boston teams had 3 chances to give me something to cheer and failed abjectly each time.
  15. Overtime. My blood pressure was in trouble from the first 60. I don't know if I can stand this.
  16. This is all David Ortiz's fault.
  17. This team is playing 4 on 4 on the power play.
  18. They can't fail on 4 straight power plays can they? SOMEONE FREAKIN GET IN FREAKIN FRONT OF FREAKIN WARD
  19. Mental mistake after bad decision after miscue after lucky Carolina bounce.
  20. This is game 3. Except it's on Boston ice and it's still Game 3.
  21. Pretty much. Bruins getting completely outplayed.
  22. Ahh man, all that not clearing finally catches up with us. 1-1. The potential for disaster here is huge. Not taking Carolina out of the play quickly is going to bite us hard.
  23. BITZY!!! Arggh -- can't watch the game, the only stream I know of is very undependable.
