  1. Short answer: Yes Long answer: Yes, if untimely injuries don't sap our talent at critical positions and leave others exposed by a sudden lack of depth. we were very shallow, slow and sore at D during Game 7 and it showed. The best goalies in the world let up troubling shots when they get exposed and exhausted. The real problem this year was Manny Fernandez. Tim Thomas has never been a guy who could start 7 straight games and be fresh and chipper in Game 7. He relies too much on energetic plays for that. Manny Fernandez NEEDED to be a factor in the playoffs like he had in the regular season, but his performance down the stretch made it clear Julien couldn't count on him. Thus, Thomas gets all the starts, and in overtime of his 11th straight start he makes a tired man's mistake. If we have Rask on the roster next year, and Thomas falters, we can maybe count on Rask to Cam Ward us through the playoffs.
  2. Now now. Green applied the finishing touch but he didn't fail all by himself. It was a total team noneffort. There was a billion different points where we both could and should have won this game and did not.
  3. That's 2 outs on 4 pitches.
  4. This man should not be on base.,
  5. Wow that was right down the middle of the plate.
  6. Again with the double play. Is it time for Tito to start hitting and running?

  8. Here come the Mariners.
  9. Shocking... I mean he only did it in his last at bat too.
  10. *sigh* Now watch Mike "GIDP" Lowell work his magic.

  12. He's one of those journeyman lefties you see sometimes who have great stuff but can't always harness it. Kind of like Oliver Perez.
  13. Or Stern for that matter.
  14. The problem with that is that Selig is usually only a passive evil. Look at the other leagues of professional sports and it's easy to see how we could do a lot worse.
  15. If you don't have more than one good option all you're doing is rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic anyway. And there'll be games you can't even use the one guy. If you have a bad bullpen no amount of role-shifting is going to turn it into a good one. Also, taking a dominant closer and messing with his role can fall under the heading of "fixing what works."
  16. The real answer is to have more than one reliable reliever in your bullpen. If you only have one guy you can count on to hold a narrow lead, then it doesn't matter if the rest of the pen blows it in the 6th or the 9th.
  17. The thing that worries me about Krejci is that his offense is too tied up in finesse and in ploys that other teams can adjust to. That's fine for a third line centerman because the game plan the other team comes in with is rarely about neutralizing you but I definitely have reservations about Krejci on the first line.
  18. I think the guy you can't lose is Kessel. Sure he isn't the game-dominator that Ovechkin or Crosby can be, but he's incredibly skilled, very fast, and he made huge gains this year, and he changes the nature of the team all by himself at times. Until Sturm is healthy and contributing again Kessel is our best breakaway threat and when you're a team that sits back and plays a lot of stay at home D you really need the ability to slip around the other team and put speed into the attacking zone.
  19. It depends on which you'd rather do, cause the opposing team physical pain or actually score more goals than they do. Lucic gets overrated a little by Bruins fans because he's exciting to watch. I'm not saying he's anything other than a good hockey player and a future strong fan favorite, probably even a team leader of the future, but as things stand right now 3 of the 4 guys on Kilo's list could possibly win a hockey game on individual effort. The other one is Milan Lucic.
  20. your comment is noted and appropriately filed. http://www.sputnikdesignworks.com/clipart/people/wastebasket.jpg
  21. We have to be near the bottom of the league in quality starts. Whenever we get one it's just barely.
  22. Seattle bails us out. That should have been a GIDP.
  23. Everyone's an escape artist when they face Boston.
