  1. I dunno, you lefthanded?
  2. No guaratnee Holliday will do better than bay has done. this reeks of a self destructive, Yankees style grass-is-greener mentality.
  3. We have our very own Spammer. Hey dude -- 2004. Now go away.
  4. Bay and a prospect for Dye and a prospect might be the best way to work this out. Then we slide Dye into left and hold onto him for a couple years, and re-up him if Reddick needs time or, heaven forbid, flames out.
  5. Could the White Sox trade Jermaine Dye? Could we be interested? is there enough common cause between our assets and their needs to get that done?
  6. The kid was 20 YO and in his second full professional season, and had good command of a 93 MPH fastball. A bit early to anoint him a mediocre prospect wouldn't you say? He's the kind of player you move in a deal like this sure -- but don't oversell it. He has a chance to make the show.
  7. Would not be surprised to hear of Saito or Penny moving.
  8. Hunter Strickland didn't have a lot of time to prove himself but he's more than "nothing." Plenty more where he came from though.
  9. Have a hunch we're still not done.
  10. Opening the forum I saw "Red Sox trade Julio Lugo for..." and didn't care.
  11. How do we make this make sense? We really don't have space on the 25-man for Duncan right now.
  12. George Steinbrenner can't hold his bladder anymore either, but we don't comment on that in polite company.
  13. Oh yes, this is taking the thread in all kinds of new and interesting directions. Jacoby, please DFTT.
  14. For that matter, so can Youkilis.
  15. Some team in the offseason will need a power hitting first baseman and will settle on LaRoche for that role.
  16. I would say Kotsay, yes. He did a good job defensively but he just wasn't getting it done with the stick.
  17. If he's a Type B he'll get a sandwich pick.
  18. I imagine that the Pirates aren't too displeased either. They gave up an impending FA for a fluid fielding shortstop who's close to the majors and a nice 20 year old starting pitching prospect.
  19. Multiple sources say we will pay Hunter Strickland and Argenis Diaz. http://www.soxprospects.com/players/diaz-argenis.htm http://www.soxprospects.com/players/strickland-hunter.htm I have no objection to paying this price for LaRoche. Nice little B-day present for me, the Red Sox did exactly what I wanted them to, and wound up paying less than I thought they would to do it.
  20. could split the difference and say it's a three player deal, Saito to third team, prospects from third team to Pittsburgh, LaRoche to Boston.
  21. Interesting that we'd pick up a former Bay teammate mmm?
  22. That's good. So we probably gave up minor leaguers then *begins muttering pleasenotBardpleasenotBardpleasenotBard...*
