I felt this was deserving of its own thread. Wakefield was a great teammate, great player and did a lot for this franchise. The Red Sox unfortunately just announced on Twitter he unfortunately passed due to cancer Prays for his family and hopefully his wife can beat this terrible disease

I don’t understand the prevent defense s***. It only makes sense if there is like 5 seconds left and the other team needs a miracle. Dukes blitzes were causing issues all day today and on the biggest play of the game, against a team with their top 3 WR out they decide to rush 3 and not even spy Hartman? Makes no sense

And Marcus Freeman’s excuse or “not wanting to get a penalty” when he realized there was only 10 men on the field is ********. 1. How do you only have 10 men on the field on BACK TO BACK plays 2. The “penalty” was half the distance when they’re on the 1 yard line. I think having a defensive lineman actually in the game is worth the penalty

DJ Brown dropped two INT Notre Dame only had 10 men on the field each of the last two plays The dumb prevent defense on 3rd and forever. Bad coaching at the end and costly dropped interceptions were the difference, along with the missed FG that Moon mentioned.

I was making a joke about people complaining he’s having a down year… his “down years” are still extremely good. He’s a great player and you still ignored what was your alternative? Trade him? Let him walk? He was going to get paid by somebody if not the Sox. -

He is having a historically good season. One of the best in a Red Sox uniform I’ve ever seen.. sucks it’s not going to result in a playoff appearance or anything but he’s been awesome.

He is definitely worth the contract. If he hit free agency he’d get this or more from another team. Besides, what was the alternative? Trading another star player in his prime for prospects and alienating an already pissed off fan base? -

I know the defense is a concern, and I think it can be improved. However, it is pretty crazy that everyone is a bit down on Devers and he’s having a down year and still has 32 homers, 97 RBI and an .859 OPS. -
You say that, but there is plenty of dumb ass teams out there. There is a team out there that traded Mookie Betts in his prime.

If he thought we had a chance, he should’ve bought and not ran bullpen games twice every 5 games.. if he didn’t think we had a chance he should’ve unloaded people. He did neither. Pure negligence
