  1. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg189/rassmuss1/blog/tekSigns.jpg *1 year with mutual options
  2. Agreed. Now their saying the ESPN is reporting it as well.
  3. MLB Home Plate (XM) is reporting that a source with contacts in the Boras camp contends that the deal (2 years) is imminent.
  4. You know what? I'm just sick of thinking about this at all. I want Tek to s*** or get off the pot so there can be some other focus, one way or the other. The story this morning on the Globe's site has Tek sitting out rather than take $5 million (as in there are no other suitors right now.) The whole thing is just stupid at this point.
  5. Relax. I know it's ludicrous. I read this article and I couldn't resist. http://www.boston.com/sports/ot/2009/01/manny_happy_returns.html Aside from the jab the author takes at Yaz, this is funny stuff. I particularly like the analogy he uses to describe sports writers who are upset: "It's like High Mass in the monkey house." He makes a few good points.
  6. First and foremost, if the Sox had signed MT, the seriously whacked out stuff would be on the Yankee's discussion boards (and most of us here would never know, since we don't visit them.) It's the nature of fans to rationalize and do a little "fox and the grapes" kind of thing. If the roles were reversed, you would be on here posting about how the 5 year 100 mil the Yankees would have thrown at Manny Ramirez was utterly brilliant. What did you really expect on this forum? A parade of suicidal fidgets fighting over the poison? I don't consider myself one of the true baseball-knowledgbile members of this site – I hold my own, but there are many who are just plain thinkers... How many of the sharpest contibutors here have said anything but praise for Teixeira's talent. (His taste, of course, is another matter.) The idea that you would spend 20 minutes writing a post that argues why Mark Teixeira is better that Mike Lowell tells a story that really needs no comment. Tomorrow you can post and explain to us Pepsi is a better drink choice than Liquid Plumber. Anyone who answered "no" to your poll is lying or trying to annoy you. But you knew that already.
  7. Using Fenway for gimicky s*** would be like retiring the Stanley cup but still bringing it to county fairs for chugging competitions. It's should be all or nothing with Fenway. IF they build a new stadium, they should tear Fenway down by Thanksgiving.
  8. The Sox are reportedly giving up on Lowe (SEE ARTICLE). They don't believe him to be worth the loss of the first round pick.
  9. Lowe is now talking to the Mets, or so I hear. I agree that the Sox probably won't go as high as he wants, anyway. Pudge Rodriguez is pointless. If we're going to go with an aging catcher, my vote goes with Tek. Signing Rocco Baldelli is the last thing they should do. His mysterious "re-diagnosis" is just a little too timely to be blindly believed.
  10. This is a strange thread.
  11. The new hat I could do without. Not because I don't like the hanging sox, but because The "B" has to stay. I like the new road uniform.
  12. Let's all join hands and sing "Kumbayah".
  13. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg189/rassmuss1/blog/DUSTIN-MVP.jpg
  14. Simple and too the point, but why?
  15. My main concern about the trade was whether it was a signal that the Yankers are not going after Mark Teixeira. I don't think that it does mean that, given the idea that Swisher is better in the OF than on first and also given the fact that this is a great time to Steinbrenner to puke up a lot of cash.
  16. Fenway Renovations... http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg189/rassmuss1/blog/knottyboy.jpg BTW - I did not make up the "Knotty Boy" thing. (CLICK HERE)
  17. Based on that vid, I'm seeing low 90's as his fastest, but that breaking ball is wicked.
  18. The age thing seems like it should be ab issue, no? I mean 33?
  19. Boras is a scumbag snake, not a village idiot. He's blowing smoke to try and drive up the price as much as he can because he knows it's gonna be crappy.
  20. They were, however, actually in 2008.
  21. The Sox have exclusive negotiating rights at the beginning. Also, did anyone not expect this (filing) ti be the first step?
  22. I started a thread like this last year and got some cool posts. So, what was your favorite moment from '08? Mine was, hands down, Lester's No-No. It was the first no-hitter I'd ever seen (as-it happened) from start to finish. http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg189/rassmuss1/blog/great2008.jpg
  23. Iwamura trying to make up for that horrible over-the-shoulder crap he pulled in the 6th.
