  1. He looks to be a pretty good closer from what I saw last year, but I don't know if i would give that much up for him... hey does anyone know how many more years he has left on his contract?
  2. Even though he didn't do that great in the past couple of years... when it comes down to it, we need lefty pitchers, relief pitchers. I think he is a good pick up for 1 year... The Sox arent giving up much money for him either...
  3. I doubt Boston will move on without Drew but if they do... remember, they always have Wily Mo, He's going to develop into a start soon enough, if he can make some more contact, he could be in the 3 or 4o spot never mind the 5 spot in the lineup... Nixon is on the market, but Id say there not way Boston will sign him as a starter... Aubrey Huff, he can play RF and would be a great pick up if Drew wasnt signed, He has some pop, plays pretty good D from what I know... Preston Wilson, Jeromy Burnitz and Shannon Stewart are just a few others...
  4. I hate the fact that most people like the sound of Coco being traded... I just don't get it... sure he had a bad year last year but he is a great player, he just need to be healthy, which he wasn't last year because of a freak injury... anyways... I like the sound of Hinske and a mid prospect for Gonzalez, really wouldn't mind that... The Sox want to get rid of Hinske anyway, so it's like hitting 2 birds with 1 stone, and it would fill a BIG hole with the closer's spot... I wouldn't very satisfied if this happened... I'm all for that deal...
  5. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20061216&content_id=1763046&vkey=hotstove2006&fext=.jsp Why, they have Rivera already, is Gonzalez gonna be a set-up man, come on now...
  6. Donnelly will be a great improvement to the bullpen but he ain't no closer, that's for sure... if he is going to be the closer then we should just have Timlin close for us...
  7. You took the word right out of my mouth... ...and Clemens will be a lot more money than Beckett, and just for a half year... that's rediculas.
  8. I heard Bagwell was going to announce his retirement soon...
  9. I'd hate to see Coco go, He really is a great player, he was injured last yr and everyone is on his ass about it... BUT... I think it would make sense, I mean if we got Lidge, we have a closer, and then Wily Mo can play CF and then Ellsbury will be ready for the year afterwards... so itll be a good trade... but then the Astros will be stuck without a closer, so it comes down to if they want to go after a closer or a CF...
  10. I think it's great, considering Boras wanted 14+ millions for like 3 or so yrs... awesome, awesome... can't wait to see D-Mat pitch, we have a great pitching staff this year... YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
  11. Ya no, if you just think about all of the money that's being handed to players these days, it's incredible... I mean just some of the signing player got this off-season got are unbelievable... Why the hell should Matsuzaka get as much money as Boras wants, really, there is no reason, Boras is just holding out on the Sox until he hears a number way out of the ordinary(like it isn't already)... he has throw one pitch in the Majors, he hasn't proven himself except that he was the MVP of the WBC but still it not the same as the MLB... (Don't get me wrong this guy is great supposibly, and I want him on the Sox, anyway...) When did baseball become all about money, what happened to the love of the game...? Look at what ballplayers get, a job of there dreams, millions of dollars, etc... it's rediculus... even the ESPN announcers are saying players are getting way to much money these days... and it's true... Hey, at least we get great baseball every season though, but nothings gonna change, especially now a days, except the price tag increasing every year... but then again, it's not our money... is it?
  12. Well...(being a huge Sox fan) I guess i gotta say Randy Johnson, before he went to NYY... he was one of my favorite pitchers..... then he went the the yankees and I couldnt believe it cuz it was the enemy. Also, no matter how much we hate him now, Damon, he was a class act and a clubhouse hero in Boston, no matter what you say as a sox fan, u miss him... of ocurse he's an ******* for going to the Yankees, even after he said he would never do such a thing, but for what he did in Boston, winning a Championship here, I gotta give it up for him...
  13. Schilling: 16-9, 3.55 ERA, 200+ IP Beckett: 17-8, 3.91 ERA, 200+ IP Matsuzaka: 14-8, 3.87 ERA, 200+ IP Papelbon: 15-7, 3.42 ERA, 200+ IP Wakefield: 11-10, 4.43 ERA, 180 IP IDK, I just feel like Papelbon will have a big year coming into the rotation, he has a lot of confidence closing, and hes originally a starter... so I think the switch won't really be a problem... Beckett will have a comeback season I'm hoping, He's got the stuff, he jsut has to learn how to use it better... Schilling... well he's Schilling, great pitcher, comes back every year throwin' the good stuff Wakefield throws the knuckler, it doesn't always move so I think that's why his ERA is usually higher than it should be... I think Matsuzaka with pitch pretty well, he has great stuff so i hear, he's jsut gotta prove it, so Im expectign him to come right at batter, be aggressive and get some wins... Hoping it's a good year come April we'll see how all this comes together...
  14. I hear the talks with Seattle involve JJ Puts or Rafael Soriano coming to Boston and Manny going there, of course thats only part of the deal, a prospect or maybe Beltre would come along as well...
  15. i really think Tek will have a bounce back season... he got injuried last year, he was set off track from playing baseball everyday... hes one of those guys that jsut keeps coming, he is such a hard worker, hustles down the line every chance he gets, and hes a catcher(u no catchers, bad knees, dont run well), but hes got decent speed and hell use it... hell, HES THE CAPTAIN... i wouldnt expect anything else... Varitek is Varitek, i can't wait to see him and the team next year...
  16. I doubt the Pads will give up Peavy but I wouldnt mind Linebrink, but with the Dodgers they have a lot of younger good player who they can throw in a deal... so Im thinking Dodgers, hey they did lose Drew to the Sox, hopefully... but I heard that the Padres are top runners for Manny, I jsut don't want him on an American Leage Team... The only problem I have with losing Manny is his bat and who the hell is going to replace his clean-up spot?!? thats what i really want know... and I also heard maybe Manny to Seattle for Sexson or Beltre...
  17. I dont know, its a tough decision, I would love to have Lugo on the team hes a great SS, but I would hate to give up a draft pick... but theres no way Cora can start, I mean I dont see him as a starter... he doesnt bring a bat either, Lugo brings defense and offense...but also a high pricetag
  18. I sure hope Nixon get arbitration, at first i thought no Nixons time is up, injury-prone, age... but i didnt really think of him as a 4th or so outfielder but no that its a possibilty he may return to boston as the 4th OF... Id love to see him back, he reminds me of Billy Mueller and Varitek, he is the true "dirt dog", he grinds it out, he plays no matter what, he has a great attitude and a great individual in the club house... not to mention how respected he is... Id like to see him back...
  19. Thanks man...
  20. if Manny leaves I will miss his bat, and thats it... Im a diehard sox fan, but wen it comes to Manny Ramirez i jsut cant respect him as much as I use to... his attitude is completely horrible and disrepectful to the team, he does try anymore... sure he's someone who can play the "Mosta" really well but other than that he can't field, he can't run either... I heard many rumors about Manny going, here and there... but theres only one recent trade rumor i heard where, manny would go to seattle for beltre or sexson, and that is a smart trade... both are younger than manny and have power so they can fill that #4 spot in teh lineup... I also heard maybe manny go to the Padres for MAYBE Peavy, that one im also agreeing with Peavy would be and Outstandind addition to teh rotation... AND i heard maybe manny to the Dodgers for some prospects, sure for prospect do it, that would be awsome...
