I think he's still coming to Boston. SoxSport I think your right about where the big money deals will come from going forward. It's not about getting butts in the seats anymore. It's about getting the butts in front of the TV.

Finding an adequate 1B shouldn't be too difficult. Swisher, Laroche and Pena are still available in free agency. Morse could be available if the Nats bring back Laroche. I think the Napoli deal will ultimately get done.

Ok now that I have cooled off, I don't like the Dempster deal. But I don't hate is as much as my bitching would lead to believe. I'm thrilled it's not 3 years. I hope he does well although I'm not particularly hopeful. I think it's just as likely he will get traded mid season as it is he finishes the deal. Think about it. Dempster needed a good AAV in this contract and probably wasn't getting it anywhere else other then Boston. So he takes Boston's deal knowing full well he could be moved this year or next, but he's got his money know so he doesn't care. Now if things look grim around the TDL the Sox have a piece teams could be interested in. Dempster should have value as a SP that is more then a rental. Sox eat some money and get some prospects in return. We will see I guess.

If Dumpster manages anything under a 5.00 ERA I will be surprisingly shocked. The only positive in this whole deal is it's not for 3 years.

I'm not one of those fans that gets bothered by this. Like I said if he was in his prime and going to rain terror on the Sox for the next 4-5 years. I'd care more. But the Yankees are trying to scrap the bottom of the barrel with him. I think he will have an ok 1st half and but he will be beat up by the 2nd half.

I've given up trying to figure out what the teams direction is. The offense is better but still a work in progress. But the Pitching has fallen almost into the twilight zone They say they expect bounce backs in the rotation and don't want to spend on the long term FA guys. Which is fine, I would not have an issues with them going with what they have and seeing if some of the young guys can step in. But then these damn Dempster multi year rumors come out that make no sense. Too many mixed signals and my brain hurts. I'm just gonna sit back and see how the rest of the winter plays out and not get too anxious with players they do and don't get. Outside of Dempster. I don't know what they are smoking thinking he will work in Boston. I'm hoping he's using Boston just to get a better deal somewhere else.

He already turned down a 2 year offer from the Sox because he thought he could get 3. He's not signing a one year deal to build value ether. That would be idiotic of him in the AL East. So it looks at minimum to be 2 with an option/ This is the dumbest f***ing move they could make. I would literally rather they go get Wakefield or Pedro out of retirement... I'd rather see a 300 pound Schilling take the mound...

I didn't say I disagreed with the approach. if I had all that money tied up in Arod your damn right I'd ride the one year guy into the ground. It's one of the reasons I was surprised he chose the Yankees over Cleveland.

For the first half of the season it will work. But I think Arod is a full time DH at this point if the Yankees want to salvage anything from him . Youk and Jeter will get DH time in the first half. But the 2nd half it won't be available as much and it will force Jeter and Youk in the field on an almost everyday basis unless they are willing to not have those bats in the line up. They are going to baby Arod because they are stuck with him for 5 more years. They will probably ride Youk into the ground.

I'm guessing it will look similar to the pinstripes he wore last summer. People really need to get over this. No one wanted him around anymore. He's in decline. His body was never going to age well. His best hope of a healthy season was going back to 1B. Boston got the best years of his career. Let the Yanks have the scraps. This is a business/livelihood for them, he's not going to care he's in a Yankees uniform because their checks cash just like Boston's.

I said it in the other thread but he's a high upside SP prospect. This is what the team should be looking to add if it's trying to avoid the pricey FA market. Cleveland gave up junk for one of the better SP prospects. I'm sure every fan base this morning is wondering why their team wasn't involved. I know he has issues but I'm going off his talent and the fact he's young enough to still get it together. He's bee a pro like what? One year?

It's a possibility. they did it for Both Drew and Lackey. I don't think we can pencil Napoli in as a C at the moment. Going to have to wait to see what this possible failed physical was caused by. If he has some knee issue he won't be catching anymore period.

Bauer would have been added to the SP pool and Kalish/Stubbs and Salty would be available for another SP(if the Napoli deal goes through). I supposed this snag in the Napoli deal might have kept them from getting into deep discussions... edit: I'm possibly salty over not being able to add Bauer to the killer "B" group lol

Cleveland turned one year of Shoo and some middling prospects into Trevor Bauer +? wtf? How in the name of all that is f***ing holy were the Sox not in on this? This is easily the biggest miss of the season. Theoretically the could have traded Lester for Myers and then replaced him with Bauer. I would have walked around with a raging boner until March... And now the Napoli deal might fall through because of a physical? wow... I mean that's not the FO fault but fml this is getting aggravating.
