  1. Toronto is a primed powder keg IMO
  2. So what are the benefits of getting under the LT earlier then expected? Does that mean their LT penalty thingamabob has already been reset?
  3. Or he could fall flat while Johnson hits the DL, Mark crumbles when the rotation jumps on his back and Morrow doesn't find it. There's a reverse side on the possibility coin too
  4. Ben: "What makes you qualified to pitch in Boston?" Shaun: "Ah. Well... I attended Juilliard... I'm a graduate of the Harvard business school. I travel quite extensively. I lived through the Black Plague and had a pretty good time during that. I've seen the EXORCIST ABOUT A HUNDRED AND SIXTY-SEVEN TIMES, AND IT KEEPS GETTING FUNNIER EVERY SINGLE TIME I SEE IT... NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT YOU'RE TALKING TO A DEAD GUY... NOW WHAT DO YOU THINK? You think I'm qualified?"
  5. Then they shouldn't be trading for him then. He's not worth top tier prospects. I'm sure they could extend him if they wanted to, but that would be ill advised before he proves himself in the AL. And like I said before if he did prove himself he's unlikely to pass up the opportunity to cash in on a good season in Boston. It doesn't fit multiple ways.
  6. That only works for Beetlejuice dude...
  7. Olt could be moved to 1B or OF(read something somewhere that said he might be able to switch positions). Regardless it would add an offensive talent to a thin Mets farm system. If Dickey cost Salty plus a lower prospect I woudn't be totally against it. But I don't think they should be trading any top tier/nera ML ready prospects for him. Dickey to Toronto for JP makes a lot of sense too.
  8. Damn it, I like him already....
  9. I agree, it doesn't make a lot of sense. I think he ends up in Texas for Olt and little else as far as big names go. Probably a couple mid tier SP prospects.
  10. I think he was going to be playing mostly 1B before all this anyways. He likely will only catch for Lackey with Lavs and Ross splitting the rest of the time. In no way should they trade the future CF for one year of Dickey, "that's just tuurible" -(Charles Barkley). Now if you said Salty plus Jacobs that might have made more sense.
  11. No it doesn't This team is not a knuckleballer from a division title. Yes he would add something to the team. But he is a huge ? coming to the AL. Maybe even more than Dempster. And no one is saying Wright is as good as Dickey. But if they want to put a Knuckleball in there they might as well save the $ and prospects and just give the kid Wright a chance. Comparisons for me of the two were only to demonstrate the type of Knuckleball they throw. Dickey and Wrights being harder as compared to the more floater action of Wakefields.
  12. One year at 15-20M? I think 1/10-13M s plenty and a 2 year deal similar to Dempster's would be ok too. I think he's a little more towards McCarthy money then 15M AAV mark. Other then that I think Marcum would be a solid depth move for the rotation.
  13. I just think he's more valuable to the Mets then he is to any other team in the league. Thus the package that will take to get him most likely would have to be an overpay. Let Texas or Seattle deal with it. If Toronto thinks they need another side show act then so be it.
  14. Leave out Webster and maybe. I'd rather they avoid the Dickey circus to be honest. I don't see the point in trading good prospects for a 38 year old knuckler when there is a carbon copy of him already in the system(Wright is more of a Dickey knuckler then a Wakefield). He's has 3 good years in a row. How many more does everyone think he actually has? He's a knuckler, it's all going to average out eventually. And I'd rather he not be on the Sox when he comes back to earth.
  15. Really? Most people had him pegged at 4-5 years around 15M per. Possibly 6 if he got a couple teams into a bidding war with the Dodgers had the missed out on Grienke.
  16. Looks like the Cubbies came up short and Sanchez is going back to Detroit 5/80M pfffft
  17. Ya I never got why they just didn't offer Andrus + for Upton. He's only got one year left and they have a promising player to replace him. It seems pretty simple right? Bourn looks to be a fit as well.
  18. They don't need him, they have Martin on a ML deal waiting in AAA and he's supposed to be the in house replacement. I've read they might be in on Bourn too. They may have interest in Ells, but I don't think it will be enough to get anyone of note.
  19. They probably won't go as many years as other teams will. I'm guessing he winds up in Seatlle or Texas.
  20. The Dodgers have spent a s*** ton of money and still aren't a great team. If it gels they could be good. But we have all been witness to what a bunch of high priced divas achieve. Overall I think the team will resemble Yankee teams from like 2002-2008. Lots of money, playoffs, not being able to get over the hump. If the Giants have reinforced anything in the league it's that defense and Pitching win out. You don't need an all star at everyone position, but you need a team where everyone is pulling in the same direction, good clubhouse and light on "me first" personalities.
  21. Victorino is like 5 years younger and prior to last season had been a top 8 WAR OF in the league for a couple years running. Victorino might be one of the bigger surprises from the off season. Other then that, I'm along the same line of thinking when t comes to the other player moves so far this off season. I don't think Gomes is in vs RHP, Kalish will be in for that. So I wouldn't worry too much there.
  22. I never thought or wanted them to extend him beyond his deal. He's not aging well, which was my biggest concern. At most I thought maybe they pick up the option. But after that he was likely done.
  23. If Lester and Buccholz step up the Sox could have a very good rotation. It's just a big if at this point. It seems they are hoping having Farrell back is going to be the difference maker in this staff. Not anyone they add. The Sox need Doubront to step forward too. Which I think he has the talent to do. The only thing that worries me is the Verducci rule concerning pitchers making certain increases in IP and the increase in injuries. Doubront will have a huge red flag because of hs IP increase last season when Verducci prints his list. And it's usually pretty spot on.
  24. Youk was likely done in Boston regardless of Valentine. I'd rather see former Sox players as role players for the Yanks then having them at the center of the team.
  25. It's most likely 4-5 years at 13-15M per.
