  1. I brought up Masterson having more value to other teams this winter and was told I was a fool and basically got bashed for it. It was during some trade talks. I was saying Masterson be a good player to possibly move because he was a RP on the Sox, but they could trade him and possibly get SP value for him.
  2. You never know how desperate someone might get. Teams make bad trades and over pay all the time. This is probably what he could net on a fair market to be honest. But you never know what a desperate GM might do in a bid to maybe save his job:D
  3. I see most interested teams offering him around 4 yrs/50-60M. I don't think too many teams can afford more then that. The Yankees will offer him 6 yrs/150M and out bid everyone by 100M. Probably more like 6/120 though.
  4. 2 days and no picks, weak...
  5. It may not be the best time to move Penny. But they still have a couple weeks. If someone blows them away then they should consider it. I was for trading him earlier this year, but with Dice-K f***ing the dog, and Smoltz regaining his form, it's probably not the best time. I would propose if Smoltz continues to struggle put him in the Pen. Have Dice-K(if ready) or Buchholz replace him. And maybe make Saito available to other teams in need of BP help. There's always Masterson to take a spot maybe as well.
  6. Red Sox 1. J.D. Drew, RF 2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B 3. Kevin Youkilis, 3B 4. David Ortiz, DH 5. Jason Bay,LF 6. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF 7. Jason Varitek, C 8. Mark Kotsay, 1B 9. Nick Green, SS -- Jon Lester, SP http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/
  7. Notice where most those deals come from? Besides the Yanks, it's all pretty much big market clubs outside of maybe Cleveland. Phillies won't need Bay, neither will LAD. LAA, NYM, NYY, and Boston are his likely landing spots. As I said before there are only a few teams that can offer these large deals. The Sox are trying to stay away from handing them out, except for top tier talent. Tex was that. Bay is good, but he's not a premier bat in the league. Although the Yankees may pay Bay like one, but that's because they don't care how many zero's are in the deal, just as long as there is an AS at each position:D. NYM, Bos, NYY, LAA are the only teams that can offer Bay 15M+ a year. Maybe LAD if they found some way to rid themselves of Manny, but I think there stuck with him. Every other team in the league is watching payroll closely, trying to get younger and cheaper. Add a big contract like Bay just doesn't seem like a great business move for most teams is really all I'm trying to say. I see the Sox offering somewhere around 12-15M a season. If he doesn't except that, he will most likely be a Yankee, because I don't see any other team offering more then that besides them. Other teams will be interested in him, but if that yanks want him, they will get him.
  8. I believe BA AVG is the first stat I showed. And you selected everyone that was signed in the "old market". There aren't many teams that will be offering those type of deals.
  9. (Careers) Bay- .280 AVG .375OBP .517 SLG 30+HR 100-110RBI Dunn- .250 AVG .382 OBP .519 SLG 40HR 100+ RBI Both have Defensive issues, albeit Dunn having more. Wow that's soooo different, I can't believe I thought they were comparable. Further more let's look at current numbers Dunn- .260 AVG, .395 OBP, .534 SLG, 23HR, 62 RBI (89 Games) Bay- .258 AVG, .378 OBP, .522 SLG, 20HR, 72 RBI (88 Games)
  10. If Dice-K can return to the rotation, I see no reason the Sox shouldn't see if there is an attractive deal out there. Especially on a SP slim market. Dice- K can replace Penny. And if Smoltz continues to struggle they could bring up Buchholz and put Smoltz in the BP. Where he could be very useful. And possibly making Saito available to a team in need of a late inning pitcher.
  11. Why pay him that much? The only other team that will be able to challenge the Sox are the Yankees. IMO I don't see any other team in the league(maybe NYM) giving him more the Dunn type money. If the Sox are offering more and he won't take it, thanks, see ya. The Yankees may pay him 16M +, but I don't see the Sox matching that anyways. And if Bay goes to the Yankees, the Sox will be first in line for Holliday. Which I don't see as being a bad "plan B" really.
  12. I think Sano has indeed passed his inspection. I'm actually surprised the Yanks and Sox aren't more in on Sano really.
  13. It does seem to be an easy move. maybe the Red Sox know something we don't:dunno:
  14. He will probably get more then 10M. But less for then 15M. I actually don't mind the thought of 3 years 14m AAV. I'm surprised the Sox balked at that. It will Probably end up being somewhere in between. 3-4 yrs, 12-13M per.
  15. Fair enough. Although I don't know a lot about the scale.
  16. Ok fair enough. But Buchholz has the stuff to be an ace. Kennedy doesn't. I think is my part of the discussion. Unless Kennedy is the 2nd coming of Greg Maddux. Personally I see him as a RH version of Jamier Moyer.
  17. Kennedy is meat in the AL East. He might be a good 4th or 5th SP in the NL. Kennedy struggles from lack of stuff. Buchholz brain get's in his way from time to time. That is why both have had struggles. I'll take the mental issue over the guy with middling pitches. Kennedy is almost a mirror image of Mussina circa 04-07. Problem is he's only 25, not 35. Kennedy better develop a knuckleball or he's not playing past 30. IMHO. Which really all this is so don't get too fired up;)
  18. Yuniesky was a pretty good fielder. Then he caught Lugoitis and fell to s***.
  19. wut lol Touche Dojji;) Slick fielding noodle bats are a dime a dozen.
  20. Listen I'm not saying it's likely. I was just made up the package to show that Colorado does have the talent to bring in Halladay. I admit when I mentioned Tulo I thought he was having a much worse year. But the Rox do have some good prospects. Also I think there could be a chance they could resign him. Halladay will be what 34 when he hits the market. The most he could probably get is a 5 year deal, and that's if he has no injury issues from now until then. He's played his entire Career on a 3rd place team that's half way across the country. Maybe he wouldn't mind finishing his career out close to home for a little less money. Helton comes off the books in 2011 if they decline his option, which is likely. They have a lot of other players becoming FA around then too. Including Marquis(09),Cook(11, 2012 option),Atkins(09), Hawpe(10, 2011 option), Street(09), Francis(10, 2011 option). That's basically everyone on the team that makes any sort of money. So they will have cash to spend. They will want to re-sign some of those guys but it's very unlikely they sign all of them. Is Halladay excepting 4/60M from the Rox that unreal?
  21. So that leaves(IMO) Philly LAD Colorado LAA Detroit I'll elaborate on my 1st post now that I'm back and have time. I think Colorado could make an attractive package. The could offer Tulo to start with. Barmes can play SS and Eric Young Jr can take over at 2B. That kid is a player. They have a good prospect at Catcher named Rosario. He's blocked by Ianetta anyways. Aneury Rodriguez has a good live arm. May need more time in the minors but he has nice potential. Jhoulys Chacin(P), Dexter Fowler(OF), and Connor Graham(P) are also players that could be part of a deal(1 of them most likely). Tulo, Rosario, Rodriguz, Chacin/Fowler/ Graham is a pretty solid package.
  22. Damn dude is that a compliment or a kick in the nuts? I really liked O'Leary as a kid. But with that said I don't believe he was that great of a player.
