It's said Catchers sometimes develop slower then other players. Maybe he could be a viable candidate to take over for Tek.

Atkins wouldn't be a bad pick up. The cost should be reasonable.

This is the type of thing that that allows me to no get mad at some questionable on the field calls. Because in the end, I believe the team to be in good hands.

Adding Buchholz is probably better the any of the SP who might be available.

a700 and myself have had our differences of opinions. I give him a little jab now and then, and he returns the gesture all in good fun. He is one for the dramatics on occasion, but that's what makes him interesting. DR is DR. Always good for conversation, always good for a little controversy. I hope this little tiff wouldn't lead to anyone leaving the board.

Yes one 1 guy. There is probably 10 players(rough estimate) that could fit that role that may be available. The Yankees are going to put a claim in on all of them?

Nut up you guys. Seriously. Yes the Yankees could block some of the players the Sox are interested. But I doubt even they will risk putting a claim in on every player the Sox try and bring in. Even they have limited space for players on their roster. And don't think teams will automatically pull their players back if claimed by the Yankees. i can imagine a lot of teams wouldn't mind dumping some salary later in the season.

And the Yankees will claim every player the Sox are interested in I suppose? Because they have obvious needs at 1B and 3B:rolleyes: Are you ever going to stop fearing the Yankees?

You never know, that kind of attention could really juice him up. And maybe the Sox get one last Summer out of him:dunno: Weirder s*** has happened. It wouldn't cost much, and it would be a good on the field and off the field move(if he can manage 3B duties when asked to).

Actually from what I have read, most think there will be multiple moves after the non waiver trade deadline. Simply because a lot of teams won't claim someone to block another team from getting them for fear they might get stuck with the added salary.

I think there should be one two week period each year at a designated time. This would help balance the rosters on a yearly basis.

I see where A700 and SCM are coming from. I don't like the depth at 1B/3B right now either. The Red Sox need to make a move IMO. But I don't think they need to do it until after they have seen what Lowell gives them first. He should be back at after the ASB I believe. So that means Bates will get to play in every game that they face a LHP. I know Oakland has a couple, and he may face 1 in the next series(not positive just a guess). So he might see 50% of the Sox games until the break( 3 or 4). I don't think it's the end of the world. If the rest of the season was to be played out with a Platoon of Kotsay/Bates I would be much more worried. The next week and a half, not so much. Oh and thanks for the shout out SCM:thumbsup:

It's only for a week. God forbid the kid gets to play a couple games in the Majors while the veterans who will help the team down the stretch get a few extra days rest:rolleyes:
