  1. Bay easily tops that group. And he will be the premier bat on the market. Holliday is having a horrible season and may have to settle for a 1 year "prove myself" deal. But being he has Boras for an agent, he will get some owner to give him a long term deal. Brian Giles? He isn't even comparable to Bay. Guerrero has a comparable bat. But given the current physical health of his knees, I'd say his a fairly large risk. Don't confuse this years COF market with last seasons. It's not nearly as flooded with big name veterans.
  2. Ryan Franklin, RP
  3. Ellsbury won his spot in CF, and sent a veteran Coco packing. Gardner hasn't. And has to split time with Melky. That should be enough to stem the argument there. And until he is the full time CF, it will be hard to win an argument for "Gardner vs Ellsbury" discussions that crop up.
  4. Noted
  5. Kilo, can you add R. Trancoso to my BP. No rush though. Just when you have a chance. Thanks in advance.
  6. Taking a look back now, it seems the gun was jumped a bit. Beckett like anyone else can have a slow start, bad spells or what have you. He is a top tier SP in the Majors. It shouldn't even be a debate anymore.
  7. And with empty seats in the new stadium, even the Yankees might be forced to be practical.
  8. Although I agree with you, the kid has been said to be the best baseball prodigy since A-Rod. Which could see him in the ML very young. So Jacko could get some value from him. But he could flame out as well, that's a risk we all take with every pick. It's better then all his damn Yankee picks anyway LOL.
  9. Beckham belongs to Peoria Distillers I believe. There is a T. Beckham in one of his Minor league spots.
  10. I found the movie entertaining. Maybe the expectations where too high. Or it just happend to open at the same time as some other big name movies.
  11. Since Ellsbury went down in the order a few things have changed. The SP approach for one. With Ellsbury at the top of the order he had Pedroia/Youk/Bay(some combo). Add that with his speed and if Ellsbury got on, it was likely to lead to a run. Thats why SP got aggressive with Ellsbury, and made him swing. They threw him a lot of strikes, as a result his OBP suffered. Because it was either going to be a hit or an out. Now that he is down in the order and the hitters behind him don't look so scary, pitchers seem to be pitching him a little normal. Which has allowed him to get deeper into counts, and also draw more walks. Maybe the increase of pitches he's seeing has helped make his overall PA better.
  12. Greinke is an Ace type pitcher. Dice-K is not.
  13. Fixed that for you. They looked like the best team. Then they played the Red Sox. And it was fairly obvious who was the better team at the time.
  14. The Sox are the better team right now. But there is still a good portion of the season to go. And the Yankees always seem to find away to keep it close or pass the Sox at some point. So let's not say it's a done deal yet. Like I have said before, I won't count the Yankees out until the Sox have actually clinched. Until that point anything can happen. Don't get me wrong, i think the Sox are the best team in the division. But soooo much can happen between now and the end of the season. TB has indeed under performed so far this season, the biggest difference being the BP. Like I said at the beginning of the season, Their offense and SP are great. Their BP has always been their Achilles heal. Last season the BP overplayed itself, and now that it has regressed back towards the median, the team is not as strong as they where last year and now they are hovering around .500. Yes they can come back, but I'd be more worried about the Yankees right now. Especially with their ability to go out and bring in help for the team.
  15. My first line up. I'm sure many changes to follow:D CF Ellsbury SS Andrus DH Hamilton LF Braun 1B Votto 3B Encarnacion C Shoppach 2B Barmes RF Gonzalez I hope Beckham will be able to be the starting 3B eventually, but I'm going with Encarnacion for the time being. I think my line up is balanced pretty good. Andrus in the #2 spot I know is a stretch, but If Barmes pans out he could work there nicely. SP Rotation 1. Josh Johnson 2. Aaron Harang 3. Andrew Miller 4. Luke Hochevar 5. Jake Westbrook Johnson Has ace potential, and not that far off. Harang is a nice veteran guy with quality stuff. Andrew Miller is a power LHP that has great upside. But has yet to consistently pitch at that level. We've seen the flashes though. Hochevar is another high upside guy(like a lot of my pitchers). Westbrook is injured now, but this is a 5 year deal. So if he comes back from TJ surgery and pitches like he can, he's a great option for my #5. I Think I have a lot of potential with my prospects. But they are prospects. But if one or more comes through, my rotation should be even more solid. I don't think of my staff as elite. But I feel it would be a very capable staff with a few high upside/flameout candidates.
  16. This move pretty much nixes any Penny trade thoughts. The Sox would have to be blown away by a deal, or think one of Buchholz/Bowden/Masterson can hold down the spot. I would guess we won't see Dice-K until September at the earliest by the sounds of it.
  17. I selected Clint Barmes. Kendrick has s*** the bed for the most part so I needed some security there. Barmes looks like he's legit and has been really hitting well lately after a slow start. He has the ability to play 2B,SS and 3B, so if Kendrick finds his way off my bench Barmes could be a great utility guy. But for now he's my starting 2B.
  18. Clint Barmes, 2B/UT Please put Barmes in at 2B, and relegate Kendrick to the Island of miss fit toys...Thank you in advance.
  19. If I was Dice-K, I'd rather except a minor league assignment and get my s*** together, then to hit the DL with "shoulder" issue. Right now it may seem like the worse of the two, but when he hits FA, teams are going to look at his DL/physical history. And this is just going to be another black mark on his record. And it will raise some flags for certain teams. But if AJ can get a 5 year deal then maybe Dice-K won't have too much trouble.
  20. Not sure on the extent of the set back. But surgery is never a good thing. Will be interesting if he hits the FA market.
  21. Don't worry man, this is just strictly ball busting to pass time on the thread. We all know your well within the rules. You aren't the first to receive flack for not making your picks quicky. And you won't be the last:D
  22. Hook is a classic. One of those movies you can pop in every once and awhile and watch and still enjoy.
