  1. The trade for Kazmir almost guarantee's he leaves. Don't be surprised to see the Orioles and Nationals among other teams get in on him.
  2. I think there is reason to believe the Sox having interest in both Hardy and Gamel.
  3. I wouldn't mind being in on Johnson either. Another guy that may be intriguing is Webb. If Florida is going to make a one year run of it they will need Johnson. They don't have an ace to take his place. And it's not like they are going to go out and spend big buck to get a SP to replace him either. Maybe they grab up Bedard, Harden and a couple others on one year incentive deals, but I doubt it.
  4. Because when healthy he seemed to provide the team with what they were looking for. Good Defense, and a good OBP. His biggest problem is he can't stay healthy. I think the Sox will bring in another SS and make Lowrie a super utility player. Which he is much more suited to be IMO.
  5. I think Lowell has some value on the trade market. He played 119 games, hit 17 HR, with 29 doubles. With a full off season of rest I don't think it would be out of the realm of possibilities he could play 130-135 games, and hit 20+ HR. There are plent of clubs out there that would take that at 3B IMO.
  6. Why not? Just for conversation sake the realize they can't re-sign him, if the trade for a bunch of prospects it will discourage Morneau. If they bring in an Ace front line SP and make a strong effort to re-sign said player, they could still be a contender with a few other roster filling moves. Worst case scenario, Beckett walks and the collect the same compensation they would have got for Mauer.
  7. Damn that rule book
  8. Here's one for everyone to discuss, Who would be up for a Beckett - Mauer swap?(I'm not advocating this, just bs-ing with you guys is all)
  9. I believe this is the point of the discussion where exp1 comes and and tells us the win share or VORP(can never remember which he prefers) difference between having Felix/Lowell/Youk over Agon/Youk/SP:D
  10. I have heard and read Drew's name pop up in a few places. The Sox should really look in on him if it is true and he's available. Yes I understand Papelbon might not be a fit(I saw it mentioned in conversations on other sites so I figured I'd bring it up for discussion here), but the Sox must match up somewhere. Drew although will surely cost something, should cost less then other SS's that are available. Leaving the team resources to fill other positions as well. I think having the younger Drew join his older brother in Boston could have great effects on both players. Nothing like a little good old fashioned sibling rivalry to he push the Drew brothers along:D
  11. Anyone think a Papelbon for Stephen Drew deal makes sense? AZ gets a big name, probably could shop him at the TDL for a big haul. Red Sox get a quality SS with some interesting intangibles. Just a thought for discussion on this over reaction Monday:D
  12. Nice post he tripled his walks and forgot how to throw his out pitch. My early reaction were reactionary. I'm fine if he is the closer next season, but like ex1, if he won't sign an extension, he should be made available and traded if the package is right for the club. I could use your this argument against you for my Felix discussions, Theo covets player- check Theo has tried previously to acquire player- check
  13. ^ This I don't see the Red Sox paying top dollar for Lackey. He wants AJ money, which being the top FA SP he will probably get from someone. That's too much for him IMO. If the Sox add a front line SP, it will probably be through trade. Anything else I could see them filling with a 1 year deal with Sheets/Bedard/Harden/Duchscherer.
  14. I see the Cubs being interested in Papelbon. Not sure what players would match up for the Sox though. Would Zambrano work in Boston? His name has popped up here and there. I know they want to move Bradley, although some people say he could be back. Not sure about him though. Anyone think Soriano could work in LF/DH if the Sox miss out on Bay and Holliday? He has 4 years at 18M per left on his deal. That's probably less of a financial commitment then Bay or Holliday. Honestly there could be a number of teams that would be interested in Papelbon.
  15. Exactly;)
  16. There is a week period after the season ends for teams to try and re-sign players. I think after that the FA market opens up shop.
  17. He has numerous times I believe.
  18. Great pitching > Great hitting I'm not saying the offense should be ignored at all though. It needs to be addressed as well. I'll take one of Fielder, AG or Hanley for sure;)
  19. So back to the topic at hand.... I believe my new avatar explains one direction I would like the Sox to go this off season.
  20. Right on man:thumbsup: Nice to see you in this type of thread so soon:lol:
