  1. You can not be serious. I'm pretty sure the Sox would want him to play GG defense and provide some pop from the RH side. Besides Lowell has put up around .340 OBP 3/4 years, and cashing in on 1 really good season.... while playing at Fenway surrounded by a deep lineup. Which means in 500 AB's, Beltre will get on base 12 times(no exact obviously) less.... OMG what the hell was I thinking.... And yours is better? Mr. RBI?
  2. I meant the season before he came to Boston, I should have been more clear, sorry. Beltre has been to an AS game(s) to I believe.
  3. I know your pushing for Laroche, which is a lost cause. Nothing personal against the guy, it's just not going to happen. Besides if you get Laroche your replacing a GG 1B with a guy with a -UZR150 rating(I know it's not the best for 1B ). And then taking that GG first basemen and moving him to 3B where he is good, but not great. Why not just add Beltre which will put GG's at both corners? Both Beltre and Laroche are 25 HR guys. But Beltre is RH which the Sox desperately need. And I swear if you bring up Huff or Branyan I will disown you
  4. Sorry mate, didn't mean to duck the topic, I had to go drop my GF off, it was more of a quick comment. Ok first off I believe we are discussing personal opinions at this point. I see the stats one way, you see them another. Manny is a HOF elite hitter. To be an elite hitter I believe you need to be able to produce anywhere(stadiums) and with any lineup surrounding you. That's what separates the elite from the rest of the league. Beltre is not elite, nor have I stated him to be. I think he is good and would benefit from a change of scenery(team). Yes of course, totally agree. I would rather Have Miggy then just about everyone else. But it's a pipe dream right now. And the best non pipe dream player available is Beltre IMO. That's why I am pushing for him, and would support the acquisition.
  5. Wow, I take back my question, you just are that daft.
  6. Everyone acts like Mike Lowell was a freaking AS when he came here. He was a throw in for F sakes! But if you were smart, you could see Lowell had GG defense and was due an offensive rebound(not guranteed, but realistic) playing at his new home in Boston. Why people can't apply that same logic is beyond me.
  7. Don't bother. They aren't going to get it until they actually "see" what we are talking about. Then the crow will be flying
  8. Your comparing Manny Ramirez to Beltre? Like I said, Next... The sox need RH power, they also need defense at 3B. Do I really need to add 2 and 2 for you? Fine it equals Beltre.
  9. It's not an over exuberance. Beltre is a solid defensive player, who stands to rebound offensively at Fenway. OMG just like Mike Lowell when he came to Boston....."slaps forehead"
  10. Are you that daft to think Beltre is one of the worst offensive players in league? He's a high 700 OPS hitter that has played in some of the worst hitter stadiums through out his career. Safeco kills power hitters. Playing in the NL West for the vast majority of your games in all those pitchers parks(except Coors West) will not help your numbers either.
  11. Lowell has put up better OBP numbers while playing his games at Fenway surrounded by good hitters. Beltre has played his whole career in pitchers parks surrounded by retreads. Call me crazy but I think it's a safe bet to see a climb in Beltre's numbers. And if that is the case, they will most likely be on par or possibly better then Lowell's. Next...
  12. I stated earlier this off season the Sox should trade for Miggy and take on Magglio as an add on. It's like 40M of the books this season, and like 140M(?) overall. Your Brain, use it
  13. That is the dumbest scenario I have heard all season. I'd rather they give Hermida a go and if it doesn't work out, there should be some OF available at the TDL.
  14. I couldn't agree more ORS. I think Dojji is some how related to Lowell. It would explain a lot Dojji you have to learn these flimzy arguments and/or opinions aren't going to float here. It took me awhile to catch on, but after constant brow beatings from ORS, Kilo, Dipre I smartened up for the most part Consistency is key
  15. Dojji must be on cloud 9 today.
  16. Easily the best deal I've heard for Halladay so far. Risky move for the Phillies, but I guess if they sign Lee and Halladay to extensions it would be ok. The Phillies with that 1-2 punch would be NL favorites for the next 3-4 years.
  17. Odd moves for the Rangers so far, trade Millwood, trade for Lowell, sign Harden?
  18. DH primarily, he will see time at 3B and 1b I would imagine.
  19. Does seem weird. they probably flip him at the deadline.
  20. I don't see why Toronto would want MLB players back that are due arb soon. Saunders is a #3 meh Aybar is a solid SS and the center piece of the package. But the just signed Agon, and I get the feeling they want a young cost controlled SS prospect.
  21. Yea well none of us were thinking MDC was a MIT grad anyways. Dumbass....
  22. I really don't get the hate going around for Beltre. He has a better glove at this point then Lowell. He's 5 years younger. His bat is comparable(playing at Fenway it should be). He is a solid player that will probably come cheaper then what Lowell did. The chronic ass pain that's going around whenever the Sox are in on someone who isn't a "superstar" is getting really old. Some Red Sox fans are getting that stupid Yankee entitlement syndrome where they think they need a all star at every position to be competitive. Beltre would be a solid addition on all fronts. Especially if they can't upgrade the offense anymore. Defense and run prevention will become even more important. The way some of you think and want things done leads me to believe your cheering for the wrong team.
  23. That's the latest, still a big chunk, but it's not the whole thing. My initial reaction last night when the deal was first brought up was that the Sox could flip Ramirez in a Halladay deal. It makes sense and he is a good enough prospect that like exp1 said could help save the team Kelly and Buchholz. I wouldn't mind Ramirez sticking around though either. But that would be two catchers with defensive ? that could end up at 1B/DH/3B(in Ramirez case). I will also not be surprised if the Sox just sign Beltre. I thank Lowell for what he gave to the Sox, and the Sox paid him well for it. I won't shed any tears when he leaves, but will always have respect for the man.
