  1. Beltre is gone. He was never the long term solution. If he did well he would go elsewhere to make his big $. If he didn't do so well, the Sox could have another year of good D at 3B for a decent price while waiting to fill the CIF long term after 2011. That was the point of the contract. V-Mart will be back if he will take a 3 year deal. He should be able to manage catching for most of that. 1B isn't going to be an option for him next season IMO. Dunn makes sense as a one year stop gap at 1B and then to DH after 2011 IMO.
  2. I was face palming myself reading dojji's response to your post. Which I totally agree with what your were saying. Anyone who doesn't see this team going after him in FA(and having probably a better shot then anyone to sign him since the Yankees will be on the sidelines) is beyond me. At worst, if Agon gets traded and the team extends him(which I read a trade may have to come with a window to negotiate if SD wants top talent in return), they can go after Fielder. He's 100% to be a FA.
  3. Ortiz mashes RHP. Struggles mightly against upper tier LHP(he struggles against all LHP early on in the season when pitchers are known to be ahead of hitters), and hits middle tier LHP average to sloghtly below average. I think th best thing to do for both sides is bench him against the CC's, Prices, and Lee types, but let him continue against avg LHP. maybe that would be enough to get the desired platoon results and keep Papi happy. (This is my 2 cents for worth for a conversation going on in the MLB hot stove thread the yeszir said to discuss elsewhere)
  4. Beltran or Beltre? If it's Beltran, Crawford won't be coming to Boston then. Beltran is plan B if they don't get Crawford(Werth wants too much money, the Sox aren't going to go that high for him). And if you meant Beltre, he is gone IMO. They are not resigning him unless he get's absolutely no play on the open market. And if you need proof he's gone, it was reported a couple days ago Youk is already training for 3B. Not sure why he would do that if the team planned on bringing Beltre back. Expect a one year stop gap at 1B and Youk playing 3B on opening day
  5. Does Kalish not qualify as a prospect anymore? If he still is, how is he left off this list?
  6. That's the only thing I can figure. It's a bizarre move.
  7. :wtf:
  8. I'm glad Ortiz is back for next season. He should have plenty of motivation for a strong season. After that I'm a mixed bag on where I see this going. The fan side of me thinks if he has a good season, he certainly isn't coming back on another one year deal. Which is too bad because he will fall one season short of the "10" year plateau and won't have a chance at getting his number retired. Which in all honesty he really has earned that right. My rational side knows that giving multiple years to Ortiz is risky business at this point.
  9. There both over paid. It was a necessary evil with Ortiz because by over paying him he will be happy with a one year deal. Which in the end is what the Red Sox want. If the Sox were trying to cut payroll to make a run at Lee, like Texas is doing, they would have probably been more likely to decline and try and get him at more of a market value.
  10. From what I read he has a good chance to return to the Rockies, just at a lower price then his option.
  11. He seems ok. Hopefully it stays that way. http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/mlb/news/story?id=5764146
  12. Is this a ticking time bomb or is Papi going to smarten up and realize that is the absolute most money he is going to make? If he want s 2 years he better show up and produce next season, and be ready to leave Boston as well.
  13. So it begins..
  14. Well everyone outside of Ortiz thinks one year of him under contract is better the two. This is really going to be an interesting development. I don't foresee many outcomes that Ortiz is going to be happy with. Might be time t move on and push for Dunn.
  15. Makes sense. Didn't want chick on the way out having claim to his new fortune. DOn't blame him for putting it off a year lol
  16. Will signing Lee really handcuff the Rangers so bad they won't be able to offer a one year 9M contract to a player at any point during Lee's deal? Or do they think having an extra 9M will help them against the Yankees? They need to understand right now that the Yankees will top any offer they make. They are going to have to get creative and rely on some other variables if the have a shot at signing Lee. Who knows maybe they plan on putting Cruz at DH and finding another OF :dunno:
  17. Titans claim Moss. Per NFL live.
  18. Is this surprising to anyone else? I thought with his good season that would be picked up. .300/.345/.496 with 29 homers is nothing to sneeze at.
