  1. Kalish needs to play. And he's no good to them on the bench as a LHH. They have plenty of those. Cameron is the perfect 4th OF. But I can't blame them for listening and seeing if someone has something they nee and are willing to give it up.
  2. You can't think of it like that. Think of it as having 2 line ups in one. Line up 1 Ells(speed) Pedroia(OBP) Agon(Run producer) Youk(Run producer) Line up 2 Crawford(speed) Martin(OBP and solid base running ability) Ortiz(with Crawford an Martin on the basepaths, he will have as many opportunities as Agon) Drew(Run producer/OBP) Scutaro/Lowrie(a combination of everything) Crawford basically becomes your 2nd lead off hitter while hitting in the middle of the line up.
  3. It had the exact effect they wanted. The Yankees have now upped their offer to 7 years. I have concerns about the back end of Crawfords deal. Not as much as a 35+ year old pitcher making 20M+ until he's 39
  4. Ellsbury Pedroia Agon Youk Crawford Ortiz Lowrie Drew Salty If they can sign Martin Ellsbury Pedroia Agon Youk Crawford Martin Ortiz Drew Lowrie
  5. He had a OPS of over .900 last year. Why are you worried?
  6. No not you, you have been on through most of it with a fairly level head. It's the other yahoo's that only show up to annoy. You give a fair share of both annoyance and good opinions
  7. They traded for JJ Hardy yesterday I believe. I doubt they're interested. SF, St. Louis, Cincy and a few other teams that nee a SS.I think Jacko is right though. They should start him and build his value and then trade him. Also doesn't drop everything into Lowries lap at once. I've always felt he was more of a super utility guy anyway. They can trade Scutaro in June/July, let Lowrie finish the season and have Lowrie and Iglesias split time there next season.
  8. Meh. Not sure if he's worth everything that it would take. Not even sure how much money the Sox have left to spend. The still need BP arms and possibly Martin.
  9. Not bad, we have been letting a700 have his fun. He deserves it. Most everyone is on board with Crawford. The contract seems to be a bit much but not the end of the world. Small faction has some worries about the 2nd half of the deal. But considering what this team could be in the 1st half of the deal may make it negligible. Couple ideas that Ellsbury could be dealt(I think to LAD for Kemp would be perfect, but I'm fine with Ellsbury on the team and not sure he could pass a physical anyways). That's about it I believe. That and the Sox need to sign Martin, Downs +1 an call it an off season.
  10. They're a little LHH heavy right now. During the season it won't be a problem. Thos guys will get what 3-5 each starts against the Sox maybe? In a playoff series it may be something more to consider. But you deal with that when you get there. If they get Martin, The will have a great ability to put a dangerous L/R/L line up out on the field.
  11. Speculation. You get a lot of it this time of year. Has Theo or anyone from the Red Sox confirmed they offered him a deal? And yes, I am one of the posters who is not thrilled about the deal. But if you take a step back and look at it, it's not completely absurd. As it was explained earlier, there are only like 5 players with higher WAR outputs the Crawford(he's higher rated then Agon). He just get's it done in a different way, and just because of that it shouldn't be discounted. Which is what I was basically doing because he doesn't hit the long ball like a typical COF. It's s*** load of money, but it's going to an everyday player. Not going to a guy that pitches every 5th day. And if Crawford has enough of an arm, they could always move him to RF to let him cover more ground and have JD in LF to take the strain off of him. Or put Crawford in CF and Ellsbury in RF. Ellsbury has shown an ability to play RF.
  12. Or 142M for a top 10 WAR producer. You should probably head back to SOSH now.
  13. Ok again, and I will keep stating this until Crawford changes his statement, he doesn't want to be a LO hitter. I agree let the Yanks or someone else give a 32 year old pitcher 7 years. CC stated yesterday(yes I know it could change, but this is from the horses mouth) that he has no intentions of opting out, regardless of what Lee gets. I'd say fat chance he doesn't pull an Arod and leave and come back on a bgger deal. But that was the Yankees choice to allow that not mine. I think it be beautiful if he opted out and someone else took him. Yankees would be back to square one and with no obvious fix to throw money at. Perfect lineup, Ellsbury Pedroia Agon Youk Crawford Martin Ortiz Drew Scuataro/Lowrie Swap Scutaro/Lowrie to the 6th spot if Salty is catching. Like I said it's like having to top of the orders in your lineup. The bottom half of their lineup would be better then most teams top LOL or Drew hitting 9th
  14. I'm sure you hope this is the cae. But with the Yankees already adding to their offer since Crawford signed, it would seem LAA's eventual involvement is pushing the Yankee hand. From what I read they where stuck on 6 years and unwilling to move. Of course this is the Yankees and the bend over quicker then a groupie backstage at a rock concert when it comes to negotiations. So I guess it's not a shocker they buckled and fell back on their usual way of business, blank check, sign here please.
  15. That didn't take long. Yankees in full on panic mode now with LAA having tons of money to spend and no one to spend it on lol This is awesome, they have to go 7 years on a 32 year old pitcher
  16. Can I just say the Yankee poster's silence or few words around here now is priceless Their sweating bad, it's a 3 horse race for Lee now. LAA has all the money they where going to offer Crawford now. Lee definitely gets 7 year offer now IMO.
  17. Fair enough I look forward to it. BTW, at what point do I get control over that, 10K posts? I have no clue.
  18. So where the reports that the Agon deal fell through. I already admitted I fell for the Crawford talk, while keeping a level head with Agon circus.
  19. It is, it's a big bold move. Something that he typically hasn't done. I mean a player getting 20M annually has happened 1 time for the Red Sox. But I guess it goes to show if you save your money and prospects in other deals(like a lot of the deals that where getting thrown around here to try and salvage the season, or to make it look like they where doing something), even when it may mean giving up on the season, it could end up like this
  20. Those where the reports going around right after Werth signed. Because up until that point everyone was expecting Crawford to get 2 extra years and 40M or so more then what Werth was eventually going to sign for. To be fair instead of stepping back and waiting for it to play out like I had with Agon, I jumped at the intial thought of having to pay him that much and didn't consider the possibility it was actually going to take less to get him. I was wrong. It happens.
  21. Ya I never went back and put the $ stipulation in I wanted it, but if you fairly look, I did bring up soon one of my biggest issues with Crawford was the 8/180M it was going to take to get him ruled him out of Boston. But in an act of good sportsmanship, I will let you have control over my custom signature for 1 month as soon as it's available to me. Fair? Or I can erase my signature, thus you avoiding the time when someone from the Red Sox system at the time of the statement will make a impact for the Sox
  22. No it wasn't you that brought up the size of the deal. It was just the reports going around right after the Werth signing of what it was going to take to sign him. If you remember I was conveniently positioned at the top of the Werth/Crawford fence when the deal came through Then all the, "this changes the market completely" talk came out and it was all the sudden going to be a 8/180M deal to get him. This is what ultimately led me to being 100% against Crawford. I had other worries but, I could get over those if they happen to get him, just not on a Tex deal. In the end like I said, i have a few concerns, but I won't complain he's part of the team.
