  1. I'd like to play if there was room. God forbid someone actually watches the game instead of track everything with pitch f/x or gamecast, or whatever. For all you guys that actually played baseball behind tee-ball and your experience with the game is more than Xbox, watch Posada and Molina behind the plate, and take a look at how different they are behind the plate.
  2. Finally...a trade.
  3. Damn, I missed this. Can I nominate my real fantasy team?
  4. Seriously..who are you?
  5. Then explain why the Yankees pitching overachieved last year, Mussina finally won 20 games, and that the Yankees have a better winning percentage with Molina behind the plate this year. I don't for a second believe that a catcher doesn't have an impact on balls and strikes behind the plate. I believe your second half of the statement is true, that it can't be measured using current statistics. Not only is his ability to influence balls and strikes UNDER valued here, but his arm stops the opposition running game cold. Just like when you had a Rickey Henderson on the bases, he would cause a team to alter their strategy. Same with Molina. Teams don't really run on Molina. When they do, they pay. I thought that James' article on Jeter vs. Everett was a great article, especially the part that stated that some of the worst fielders are some of the best hitters, since their hitting compensates for their fielding. I believe the same is true in reverse. Some of the worst hitters are some of the best fielders, otherwise they wouldn't be in the league. There are two positions in the field that I would sacrifice offense for defense. Catching, unquestionably. Shortstop, maybe. Catchers have an effect on every pitch. Fielders have an effect on only plays in which they are involved in. In any game, from a defensive standpoint, the pitcher has the biggest impact. I'm sure you've heard the saying "Momentum starts with today's starting pitcher". The starting pitcher has the biggest effect on the outcome of any game. Next would be catcher. Last would be DH.
  6. Sorry...I was using WINS to define a team. My bad. I'll make sure never to do it again. Is it really coincidence that the Yankees win when Molina is behind the plate, and lose when Posada is behind the plate? You'd figure the opposite would be true, considering the difference between them offensively. When Molina catches, the Yankees win at a higer percentage than when Posada catches. Watch this "trend" become a fact over the season. I stopped reading at this point. Guess why?

  8. I made a few trade offers. Please respond as a courtesy.
  9. His sinker is usually 92-94 mph.
  10. What I've seen is that he isn't getting on top of the ball. He actually hadn't given up a single hit on his sinker when it sunk. Everyone of his hits came when his sinker tailed away from lefties and in to righties. It's like his sinker became a screwball, or running fastball. The problem was that his ball didn't sink, and he was throwing around 90 MBH and leaving meatballs ovrer the heart of the plate. He has just lost the grip on his sinkerball and can't throw it consistently.
  11. I've been there twice already, so I'll say this. The new stadium is definitely "windier". Something you don't notice on TV is that the only wall the outside wall. What I'm trying to say is that if you get up to go to get some food or go to the bathroom, you can watch the game as there is no wall separating the concession stands and the field. It's defintely "draftier". What this may have is an effect of a windtunnel effect.
  12. Wow...you know whats funny? It's a loss. That's it. Nothing more or less. Wang has been the worst pitcher in the majors this year. Whatever. If they Yankees win tomorrow, they split the series, even though they were outscored seven trillion to one. What kills me is not that Wang is losing..is that in all of his starts, the Yankees pen comes in in the second inning. They need to figure out something with what to do with him, since he's killing the team in more ways than one. Anyways, tomorrow it's Burnett against Pavano. We'll see.
  13. Wang is that bad. Even after today, no matter what the Sox do, we're still ahead of the Sox.
  14. Hey, 2-1 is a loss.
  15. I like Wang, but it's time for Wang to work it out in the minors. He will now have 3 of the Yankees 6 losses, and he has utterly killed the Yankee bullpen. He needs to go to Scranton, figure it out, and then come back strong [hopefully]. Give Hughes or Tomko a shot, and actually, I'd bring up both. Hughes to start, and Tomko as a long reliever. Claggett was the sacrificial lamb today. I hope they go through with it.
  16. Red Sox definitely win this game.
  17. Well, rarely do first offers get it done. Anyways, I have more serious issues than 1B. I need OF.
  18. Come on, it was before he went apeshit.
  19. So when should they have traded him? Before of after the injury? He was 9-2 when he got hurt. You weren't going to trade him when he was injured and sell low. So when exactly did you think the Yankees should have made the deal?
  20. You know what this reminds me of? People are only now understanding defense. This explains why Abreu didn't get any offers close to what he was expecting, and Dunn. How do you quantify catchers? Soon, I hope, someone much smarter than anyone here will come up with something and then you'll notice that Posada is the Abreu of catchers, and Molina is the Ozzie Smith of catchers. Look, I like Posada. The Yankees are a better team with him. However, what he gives offensively is given back defensively. Same with Molina. I think the Yankees win more games with Molina than with Posada. However, they win more with Posada than any other backup catcher they may have. As for the pitchers, Wang was 9-2 and Mussina was amazing. Now, I think for pitchers who live on the corners, like Mussina, Molina is irreplaceable. Pitchers like AJ or CC or Joba will not be as affected as pitchers such as Pettitte or Moose. Anyways, back to the subject....the Nady injury won't hurt that much. Swisher is the better player overall, and you'll have a rotation of Swisher, Damon, and Melky for two spots, and this will allow Posada to DH more.
  21. Looking for OF help and RP help. Anyone?
