  1. How does it not make sense? You don't have to agree with it, but how does it not make sense?
  2. True. However...he had a catcher ERA of 5.22 in the nine games he caught last year. The Red Sox team ERA was 4.35. This year? Vmart has a 4.56 CERA this year, and the team ERA is 4.07. Small sample size? Absolutely. No question about it. However, I personally believe that Vmart's catching ERA will be about 40 points higher than Varitek. For this reason, I see the Red Sox finishing with an ERA around 4.50. Keep in mind that the team ERA should be lower, with the maturation of Buchholz, the signing of Lackey, and the shift to defense. Vmart is that bad.
  3. I don't doubt the quality of your front three. However, let me point out some information to you. Your team ERA in the first half of 2009 was 4.07. Your team ERA in the second half of 2009 was 4.70. Now...who did you acquire in the middle of the season last year? VMart. Who is primarily your catcher now? Vmart. I'm actually quite surprised your team era is as low as it is. I fully expect it to climb half a point by the All-Star break. Again..my opinion.
  4. I think Beckham is a better prospect, player, etc. than Buchholz. This is my opinion. Sadly for Red Sox fans, Hoyer worked for the Red Sox and knows the PR Machine. It's pretty simple really. If he likes Buchholz more, AGon will be a Red Sox. If he likes Beckham more, AGon will be a White Sox. This is my opinion anyways. To answer you Dipre, I highly doubt your team ERA will be 4.00. It will be closer to 4.50. Again...my opinion.
  5. Where would you put him? He can't play 3rd. He's also your best 1B defensively. So why would he play anything but 1st. To tell you the truth, the way to solve this problem is to trade Vmart for prospects, to help offset the prospect cost for AGon. I don't know who the Mets have, but he'd be ideal for them. You're not trading him to an AL playoff team. The Phillies don't want him, not the Cardinals or the Giants. No for the Cubs as well, or the Dodgers. Maybe the Mets, Braves, or Colorado.
  6. The nature of prospecting is that most of these players will be nobodies. The Red Sox fanbase got spoiled, seeing an impact player come up one season for 4 or 5 straight seasons. It just doesn't work that way. The Yankees had their run with Jeter, Bernie, Jorge, Andy, and Mo. Then it dried up for a decade. These things are cyclical.
  7. You're not rotating AGon, IMO.
  8. Chan Ho Park has not pitched today. The Yankees win.
  9. Since I am not in tune with the Red Sox like you guys are...for this season, what do you do if you get AGon? Who plays third, who plays first, who DHs?
  10. No idea why that is happening, Ital.
  11. Ladies and gentlemen....prepare for the end of the world. Hell has officially frozen over. I agree 100% with Jacko.
  12. Replace Garza with the name of the day's starting pitcher, and this will be a recurring sentence all season. This is as good as their pitching will be. They have a team ERA of 4.05. It will probably go up from here. As for the hitters, yes, VMart will improve. Drew will as well. Ortiz is done. I would be. I fully expect to see AGon in a White Sox uniform. If you were San Diego, would you rather have Buchholz or Beckham? Please.
  13. The thing is that the Yankees are not firing on all cylinders. Arod has one homer. So does Tex. Cano and Posada are the only ones really playing above their career norms, but that is probably offset by Arod and Tex. Pettitte is pitching well, but Vazquez is terrible. This is the team. It will have ups and downs, like every team, but this pitching staff will prevent losing streaks, and the hitting, with the patience up and down the lineup will prevent long slumps. What makes me think this team is a regular season juggernaut is that they are not playing their best. This is about average for them. However, when they get to the playoffs, throw the regular season s*** out the window.
  14. I'll be ok with my investments, although I've taken a bit of a beating in the real estate market. The Yankees tickets are spending cash. Last year was my best ever. I'm hoping for a Yankee-Red Sox ALCS and a Yankees-Phillies World Series. I may break 30 grand in profits for that one, if both series go seven and we have home-field.
  15. 110 wins. Watch.
  16. The Red Sox better pick it up soon or they will cost me money. Who will want to pay 100 a ticket to the bleachers to watch the Yankees play a 3rd place team?
  17. He's only making 6.5 million this year, so the payroll would have even been lower than it is now. However, if you really need someone to do the math for you.... Bay: 16.5 million Cameron: 7.25 million Beltre: 9 Million So...yeah, you would have saved a ton of money. 250K. So would you rather have had Bay and Lowell, or Cameron, Beltre and 250K? What was obvious to me is only dawning on you guys now.
  18. Meant Cameron and Beltre.
  19. You could have had Bay instead of Cameron and Lowell.
  20. Then how come he didn't miss the pitches from CC? You know what would be interesting. Let's figure out when Timmons is umpiring behind the plate, and see how he does in his next outing. That would be interesting, don't you think?
  21. Except that if you watched the video link, you'll see that they put up the strike zone graphic. Which is why ORS stopped debating this point. Learn. The jury is out on Martinez? Fine, fine...except that I quoted this would happen before the season started. Let me know when the jury is in. It really doesn't matter how long you take. I have more experience in this. I won't knock your baseball analysis on this point I just made, what I mean by experience is that I've been watching a terrible catcher for years and I have more experience seeing how he affects a pitcher's performance. Trust me, there wasn't a Red Sox fan alive who was happier than I was when you signed VMart to be your everyday catcher. I get it. When you're right, it's honest-to-goodness great baseball analysis. When your debater is right, it's baseless conjecture. It must really suck to be on the receiving end of so much baseless conjecture. Nah. I didn't look it up. However, I'd be willing to bet I'm right. We all know in your little mind you think you're right. That's nothing new. Also, I don't have access to Gameday. So get to work...and just like ORS, prove my point for me. If I don't see a graph, I'll assume I'm right. You have access. Prove me wrong.
  22. Funnies post of the year. My stomach hurts from laughing. 1. Come up with my own opinion? Oh my goodness, all you do is spout what others write. 2. A system that actually differentiates? There are multiple systems. Gameday, Brooks, MLB ...you pick one and run with it. Trumps me..analysts...advance scouts...former baseball players...baseball columnists...all of us!!! People who get paid to do this, some who make over six figures...nothing beats Dipre with a Game Day account. I'm literally crying with laughter. 3. We've heard from you the small sample size argument. Would you say half a season is fair enough? The reason I ask is this: With Lackey, and Buchholz pitching a full season, and no Dice K [until now] wouldn't you think the Red Sox team ERA to go down? If we revisit this argument on July 1st and VMart is still the primary catcher, and the Red Sox team ERA is higher....would you admit you're an idiot? 4. Holliday still can't hit the inside fastball. Look it up.
