  1. Last two mocks have Leiter falling to the sox
  2. You’re not wrong with that comment. Talented team that annually underperforms
  3. The team is too talented and too stuck financially to sell off any core pieces. A full on explosion and rebuild won’t happen. They’ll try new management and adding before they blow it up
  4. Yes it can. Maybe we can fire the manager and this team can go on a tear
  5. Aaron Boone now with the best odds to be first manager fired this season, per sportsline
  6. Boone is a players manager who won’t call anyone out. We still need a player’s manager, we just need one who will call a guy out if needed and also knows how to manage a pen
  7. You had to know Perez was going to do this. He is a #5 guy, has been a #5, always will be a #5. He is just making it easier for Sale to take his slot later in the year
  8. At the beginning of the season, the Yanks were going to be buyers at the deadline on their way towards an easy AL East title. Instead, they have shown a total apathy towards playing baseball, a lack of chemistry and a lack of fight. They've rolled over vs some of the worst pitching in baseball and have been steam rolled by some of the best. On days when they should have the upper hand, they give it back. There has been no defining moment for this team and they're rapidly running out of time. They're 8 games back of the surging Rays. A team that dumped their 2 best starters in the offseason yet continue to just do the right things. They don't win game scoring 10 runs most times, but they are perfectly content winning 3-2 while making other teams beat themselves. The sox have surged due mainly to their offense being great and their pitching not being entirely horrible. Plus, they have a heart and lack of quit that cannot be bottled. The Jays have started to rise as well on the back of their offense. Rumors have been out there for awhile that the Yanks are using the lux tax line as a soft cap for their additions this year, and if that's the case, adding anything of value may not be in the cards. So, if the Yanks continue to play .500 ball and find themselves too far from the pack to reliably be called a WC contender, who would they sell? Well, for a team that was supposed to compete, this team has very little wiggle room. Kluber is their only sure fire FA of note and he is hurt with an earliest return date right at the deadline. So he isnt someone people will call for. Sanchez is definitely on the block and he has righted his ship of late, but if he were to be on the market, it would mostly be as a DH as he isnt a starting caliber defender at catcher. Maybe the Yanks would want to jettison Gleyber, but you'd be selling pennies on the dollar for a guy who has started to hit again. Ultimately, even if the Yanks wanted to be sellers, the people they could sell wouldnt fit with the mentality of contention in 2022 as most everyone else is under contract. It is looking like a pretty boring deadline for the Bronx Bummers
  9. They lack heart. This team has no chemistry, no fight.
  10. Now that’s funny
  11. Man do they suck right now. The loss in Minnesota took the wind out of their sails
  12. Taillon is a shell of what he was prior to TJS. Sevy’s injury hurts. This team showed fight and then laid down in the end. Chap is in one of his rough patches. Just not good baseball being played still
  13. 30.2 shutout innings for Waldichuk. 55K, 13BB, 12H. That’s insanity.
  14. Hitters should be furious. MLB doctored the baseball to have them be lighter so they don't get their homers. The lighter ball also increases spin rate and velo, so it is both harder to make contact and harder to hit out. Now they want to take away the grip substance that allows the pitchers to control the harder thrown baseball, which now becomes a safety issue. This change wasnt needed and now rather than admitting their mistake, they are making it worse
  15. And I bet he and every other pitcher is using the same s***. It’s truly an equal playing field here
  16. This spider tack s*** isn’t new for 2021. It’s been around for years. These pitchers have been using agents for grip for decades, heck, ever since the game was invented. Manfred decided to try and take the homers down by doctoring the ball, but he ended up adding velocity and spin to the pitchers which has taken the offense out of the game entirely. Manfred is a total stooge who has artificially destroyed a great game
  17. The ball was actually made a little lighter which is accounting for the higher spin rates. I agree that the sticky stuff has been going on for years. This isn’t new. But a lighter ball will seem like it’s rising compared to the heavier one and should be able to be thrown harder
  18. All is well! The Twins have announced that they will face the Yankees for the next 99 games of the year.
  19. One thing I don't want to see if Leiter on the sox.
  20. Most recent mock has Lawler dropping to the sox and Rocker dropping to 6th. Mayo also has Hoglund coming to the Bronx which I can 100% see happening
  21. Depends on your team and depends on your draft rankings. If you are the sox or the yanks, you can extend the player you drafted. If you are Pitt, then you shouldnt draft for need because that player may be gone by the time the next guy is ready. But I wouldnt advocate drafting for need and selecting the inferior player. I am saying that at the top of the draft, most of the players have similar ceilings and drafting for need might be the separating factor, ESPECIALLY if you are taking an advanced college player who could fly through your system
  22. Good news on the injury front. Severino threw 2.1IP in his rehab stint. He threw 35 pitches. Will likely ramp up by 15 a game. He needs to be activated by July 6th. Kluber can start throwing at more than just a catch pace. They moved him to the 60 day IL, but likely didn’t have to. They haven’t given an official update but it sounds like the initial concern was not validated with the 2nd through 4th opinions (yes, they got 4 opinions) Britton got shellacked at AAA yesterday, but he is healthy and seems ready to go. I’d assume they’ll want to have him have a good outing before calling him back up, but he could be. Ack by the weekend Voit is already running and hitting soft toss. He should take a rehab assignment soon and could be back in the Bronx by the end of June
  23. I keep seeing “complete offensive game” in the recap. No it wasn’t. We left a man on third with less than two outs three times! Our first 5 runs scored on a walk, wild pitch, sac fly, fielder’s choice error and fielder’s choice. We scored three runs on homers in the ninth against a rookie in his first game ever. It was nice to see the hits, but their ability to hit to situation is still dead in the water
  24. A missed bunt now, wtf?
  25. So many missed opportunities again. Easy opportunities with runners on third and less than two outs. Up in counts chasing. The fundamentals are so bad on this squad, there is only one recourse, can them all!
