  1. The sox back end is better in theory. Jenks numbers point to him being pretty unlucky. If he shows that 2010 was a fluke, then you have a very strong setup core. Not sure you can point to Paps being fluky, though. He has regressed in every season for the past 3 yrs. I honestly think that this season ends with Bard as the closer. Regardless, the addition of Wheeler offsets any injury or ineffectiveness that may strike the back end as he is a solid middle relief pitcher as well. I do agree that the sox rotation isnt as ironclad as people are making it out to be, but Lester is an ace, Buchholz looks like he's developing into a top of the rotation pitcher and you can be sure that Lackey will give you innings. DiceK and Beckett are wild cards.
  2. Garcia looks like he'll be the odd man out. He has already said that he wont be accepting an assignment to AAA. I have a feeling that we will either trade for a starter or Manny Banuelos will force a promotion to the bigs once the fat toad falls apart, which is inevitable
  3. Really? For a 6 yr period of no championships they were the shining example? Not the team that won 4 WS?
  4. Cleveland is a hole. They cannot play ball with the big boys and have proven they cannot make the right personnel decisions to keep their team competitive. It boggles the mind that they'd prefer to sign an all out CFer and a one trick pony DH over locking uP two aces long term in Lee and Sabathia. They were handed a golden goose with their drafting and te stupidity of Omar Minaya (Colon trade) but squandered it. They are a LONG way of from contending and will likely be dealing Carmona over the next 12 months.
  5. Back on topic. Mark Newman was quoted in a NYT piece as saying this kid was clocked as high as 100mph. His contract is pending MLB approval, but assuming it is granted, he, DePaula, and Cris Cabrera should form a formidable top three in the GCL
  6. You figure the Yanks will be carrying 12 pitchers if everyone stays healthy.... 1. Sabathia 2. Burnett 3. Hughes 4. Nova 5. Colon 6. Rivera 7. Soriano 8. Robertson 9. Chamberlain 10. Feliciano 11. Logan 12. Garcia/Mitre That leaves 13 offensive players 1. Posada 2. Montero 3. Martin 4. Teixeira 5. Cano 6. Jeter 7. Rodriguez 8. Gardner 9. Granderson 10. Swisher 11. Jones 12. Nunez/Pena/Chavez 13. Nunez/Pena/Chavez I think Chavez actually has a pretty good shot. I think the Yanks want to groom Nunez for one more season and could use a good bat off the bench
  7. The Yankee rotation, as we all know, if pretty top heavy. We know that CC, Hughes, and Burnett will be starting the season as the top 3, but the final 2 spots are up for grabs. Going based on performance, here are the three finalists thru 4 innings on March 16th... Ivan Nova- 12IP 8H 2ER 2BB 5K Bartolo Colon- 9IP 8H 3ER 1BB 12K Freddy Garcia- 7.2IP 8H 4ER 6K 2BB Thus far, Nova has wowed the Yankee brass in terms of his poise and stuff. I think he was close to a lock for the #4 spot to begin the season, and I think his performance thus far is solidifying that. In terms of the other 2 guys, Garcia has been impressive per what the Yankees have been saying, but his numbers have been rather pedestrian. I havent actually seen Colon pitch, but I have read that he's throwing 93mph again and has put up very impressive K and BB numbers through 9IP. If the season started tomorrow, I think you'd be hard pressed to pass on the Fat Toad for the #5 spot. But I would also keep Freddy "Duct-Tape" Garcia around as a swing man in the rotation in case either of the above bomb out. 2 weeks left people, then all hell breaks loose
  8. And none of the above had been personal? Really? Cmon now, lets be honest here.
  9. Say what you will in this one ORS. Just looks like more whining and bitching from the forum...well bitch
  10. Once again, you're off by a long shot. These players have X ceiling. That ceiling assumes everything goes right. When it comes to hitters, that ceiling doesnt typically take into account injury. When it comes to pitchers, injury is HUGE. If a guy has a back of the rotation ceiling, then assuming everything goes right, he'll be a #4 or #5 starter. Nothing amazing. We have a few guys who fit into that category who arent that far away from their ceilings, but health is HUGE for a pitcher. Most of the pitchers who flopped did so due to health issues
  11. Horne blew out his arm twice. Wright never improved his command. These guys aren't 100% locks. There's always something they need to improve on and for a pitcher, health is the most important
  12. Of course you do. It serves it's purpose by updating the players the Yanks have added via INTL FA. That is the point of the thread. It's been viewed plenty of times. Not all threads need to be discussed. Some of them are strictly informative. I am sorry you feel like it is a fear us thread. But thanks for generating so much interest in the thread by claiming it is worthless. I am sure more people got informed about the Yankee signees than would have if you didnt jump in and make the thread less "meaningless"
  13. I haven't been doom and gloom on sox prospects. I've said multiple time that I thought Casey Kelly was a bit overrated. Does that make me doom and gloom? I have also said I really liked the sox 2009 and 2010 drafts to a point where I think the sox will be a top 10 farm by 2013, once all those HSers develop. And I am not convinced of Iglesias' bat. Maybe that made me doom and gloom?
  14. Regardless, this has no "fear us" component to this as our resident special needs contributor stated. I have already said the sox are the favorites this yr. How is that a fear us comment? It's only info on signees which obviously has some people interested. And in terms of being an echo chamber, well I obviously wasn't in the Dominican, so of course this knowledge is second hand. Not sure how revolutionary that comment was. But information gathering is still important to some on here. It won't stop me from posting about it and if it bothers you, then stay out of the thread that was placed in the Yankees Forum.
  15. You do know that this "dead" thread just came completely alive. Thanks
  16. The thread is stale only because you decided to come into it
  17. This guy was signed, IMO, as a compensatory move for losing their first rounder for Soriano. He's a first round talent and he got supplemental first round money. Not a bad move IMO
  18. He wasnt released, but he might as well be. One of those "toolsy" guys who never materialized.
  19. He's their most expensive signee from the INTL forum since Gary Sanchez. He has a power arm and depending on the scouting report, he has plus potential of a curve and change (although neither are there right now). The kid has a ton of potential and should also start stateside with DePaula this yr.
  20. Yankees signed Juan Carlos Paniagua, out of the Dominican for $1.1 million. He was suspended for identity fraud last yr. He's 6'1" 180lbs and sits mid 90s. He hits 98 on occasion. Jury is out on secondary pitches. He has been confirmed at 20 yrs old. Sounds like another high upside arm added to the farm
  21. Wasn't the yanks. Cash came on record saying he never made an offer. Jump to conclusions much?
  22. Are the Yankees filing the suit? Or is Chapman?
  23. Yankee media creations? Wow, you're outta touch my friend. The national scouting sites have caught on
