  1. My list of potentials.... 1. Cubs 2. Mets (if Trump buys share of team) 3. Nationals 4. Cards (if they don't sign him prior to Nov 15) 5. Yankees (if they miss the playoffs)

  3. Gardner put up solid AVG numbers through his minor league career
  4. Fu Lin Kuo is a good one to keep an eye on. The guy had some trouble adjusting after coming over from Taiwan, but did hit 4 homers in 136ABs as a 19 yr old. He's got good gap to gap power and also has quite an eye. I think he ends up in Staten Island this yr and puts up a solid line and places himself squarely within the team's top 50 prospects.
  5. In baseball, there is one big fish that then forces a market correction upward. The Yankees are the biggest fish, their revenues are massive and since there is no salary cap, they can expand above and beyond inflation on a year to year basis. Other clubs needing to match the Yankees has caused a major increase in yearly salaries. This is why baseball players are so expensive
  6. My preseason breakout picks: Pitching: Jose Ramirez- he apparently took hold of a breaking ball in instructs and it was looking plus when they broke for the winter. If he keeps that going, he is going to dominate Tampa and probably end up in Trenton and the top 100 by years end. Offense: David Adams- Offensively, his numbers have been impressive through his career. He was in the midst of breaking out at a prime defensive position when he broke his foot. I am betting that this kid stays healthy in 2011 and hits to a .850+OPS between AA and AAA and jumps into the top 100 conversation
  7. CC loves NY. And because of CC's presence we didn't HAVE to go crazy for Lee. If CC opts out (which is the correct business decision), there is no way any team is close to NY in salary or years. Lee left 15-20 mil on the table. CC would be leaving 30+ on the table if he left
  8. Joba needs to shave and lose about 20lbs. Not good for someone trying to regain their stuff
  9. If he opts out, it is only to get more cash from the Yanks. He is going nowhere for the next 4-7 seasons
  10. Here's my problem with Lin. He's never shown an ability to hit for a good average in the minors, meaning he probably won't hit for anything higher than .260 in the bigs. And he has above average speed/basestealing ability, but it isn't enough of a standout trait to overcome his low avg/power combo. Plus, for Boston, they need a right handed platoon mate who can give them 60 games worth of production from the right side seeing as they are so left handed, and Lin doesn't look like that kind of player. His big plus, though, is his age. Meaning he might just open up and take one aspect of his game to the next level. For me, that's his avg. For a kid with plus speed to not hit for avg in the minors, that's a bad sign. Seeing as speedsters typically beat out a lot of hits that others don't, meaning that his contact skill is probably a minus right now. 2011 is crucial for him. If he hits to a .260 avg again (as his career avg suggests) then he will probably be dealt
  11. The Yanks DSL teams are ridiculous. Polo, Alcantara, Santana, Calderon and then the pitching. This is the deepest Yankee system in decades and it is deep at every level
  12. Reddick needs a place where he'll start in AAA for 2011 then, assuming good things, will be handed a spot for 2012 without much competition. He has tools, but his head doesn't seem in it enough to make it in Boston. Until you break it with the big club, you need to be ready for anything, and he just isnt
  13. He might be a 4th OF type in sept when rosters expand
  14. Just read that. Good.
  15. No, they shouldnt. Reyes is an injury waiting to happen and Swisher is on a pretty cheap option if he keeps his .870OPS up. You roll with the punches for now, play him 2 more yrs then let him walk with an arb offer and get 2 picks
  16. Nick Swisher just hired Boras. He's in the last yr of his deal this season, although the Yanks have a 2012 option on him at $11 mil or so.
  17. 4th, 5th, and 6th from reputable sources with Keith Law at #9. Law is a joke, but he tries to make up for it by putting Banuelos higher than anyone. Regardless, the system is loaded.
  18. I think we have ways around it, to be totally honest. Betances and Noesi should be enough to offset the request of Banuelos. Noesi could be in the rotation now and Betances by 2012
  19. The injury issues are a concern as is his wildness. Regardless, our system is the deepest it has been since 1994/1995. We dont have to include our top guys to get what we want. That's the beauty of it. Betances is up for grabs, IMO, due to injury concerns, although he might be the best pitcher in the end.
  20. Comparable stats in a 160AB debut is ridiculous. That would imply that Mark Quinn who won a ROY award would end up being a star in the bigs (you know how that turned out). The fact is, he has great tools and has put up good stats in the minors. He was rushed due to need last yr and needs another yr of AAA seasoning. If he continues to progress, then he'll get a shot at the RF job in 2012. But nothing is free in the AL East, the kid will probably have to beat out a veteran to get the job
  21. Reports out of Minny say that the Twins would be open to moving Francisco Liriano this season since he's under contract through 2012 and is at his highest value since 2006. If they do put him on the market, he is exactly the kind of pitcher the Yanks could use behind CC
  22. He says he won't opt out, and I trust him a little more than arod. But then again, he is an athlete and it would benefit him financially. I know I'd do it
  23. 30 lbs will definitely take some of the wear and tear off the knees. But keeping it off will be tougher than losing it. I could drop 30 pounds too, but I'd probably gain 40 after that once I got off the diet
  24. I'd do that deal, although anyone who is looking for Golson in a deal is shooting low. Golson is a 4th OFer at most, and more of a defensive replacement and pinch runner in reality. The Guardians dont have to deal Carmona. He's locked up for 4 more yrs all on cheap options. The only reason why the Guardians might sell him is if they think he is gonna revert to his injured shittiness. But one more 200+IP sub 4ERA season from him would double their return. In terms of talent, we shouldnt send Montero or the B's, but in order to get him and the 4 cost controlled seasons, we'd have to open with at least Brackman
