  1. Not sure why I wasn’t more excited about this at the time. Here I thought Rizzo was this 34-35 yr old washed up player. He’s 31. His last full season, he was a 4WAR player with a .900+ OPS and an OBP over .400. Last year was an anomaly due to covid and a ridiculously low BABIP. This year, his K and BB rate are about 1% lower than his career averages, but his isoPower is almost exactly career average, his barrel and hard hit % are actually higher than his career averages, yet his BABIP is 20 points lower than his career norms. This is a guy who has had an unlucky stretch. It was due to correct and it has in a big way. This guy is now playing for his next contract, and heck, it could be in NY
  2. Cash was right on on Taillon. As with a lot of post TJS guys, their stuff and command are inconsistent early. It took him half a season to find it, but now he’s lighting it up
  3. DHern May be out longer than you think. He had a significant amount of pain yesterday
  4. Better than the Tigers lineup
  5. Especially now that half the WC teams are eliminated in a one game playoff and have burned their best starter before their following series
  6. This is a bipolar year. With the names in the Yankee lineup, we should be seeing 10+ run outbursts every other week. Instead, it is almost as rare as a ball hit with authority by Gleyber Torres
  7. Cole is apparently vaccinated so the 10 day timeline isn’t the same per mlb rules. Granted, with the fact that delta breakthrough infections lead to the same amount of nasal passage virus, not sure if science supports their policies. Didn’t know he could be brought back without a ten day hold. Gil showed me something. To have little success in AAA then be thrown onto the YS mound and dominate the way he did showed guts. I hope to see him again.
  8. It seems the once vaunted offense is falling flat and the pitching cannot support it. I am pretty sure Bogey has a wrist issue that you'll hear about off-season surgery in October or November. Ever since he missed a few games with a wrist issue, he is a different hitter. Verdugo has seemed to fall into the power trap that a lot of young hitters fall into. His game is occasional power, but his swing now has so much loft that he has lost his identity and his production has cratered. JD is chasing at an alarming rate. The only guys who are hitting right now are Devers and Kike. JD will eventually find it. Bogey may be a shadow of himself until the wrist is fixed. Verdugo is starting to look like Gleyber up there. Inbetween identities and not useful to anyone. The offense is in trouble right now as the bottom of the order has been awful. The sox are built to hammer pitching and have their staff hold them just enough. Well, without the hammer, the starting staff isnt keeping up and the pen is getting worn down
  9. And they sent him down? That is so dumb. Montgomery and Cole will miss 10 days. That is two starts. Zero reason to send him down now
  10. Just saw the highlights. 98-99 with the 4 seamer, 94 with the two seamer, 90-92 with the change and 86 with the slider. Love that he works the upper half with the high heat. He’s not going to avoid the walk going forward as he has really struggled with command since his promotion to AAA, but his stuff is electric.
  11. Gil might belong up here.
  12. Luis Gil for his debut. He’s got big stuff, but has had some command issues this year
  13. My thoughts exactly. I bet they talk about stretching Whitlock out in ST next year
  14. Yup. The inaction is deafening
  15. Houck and Whitlock could be future rotation stalwarts. They also could both end up in the pen long term. Houck’s issues are command and health. Whitlock seems to have both this year coming off TJS
  16. I don't hate the Heaney move for the short term but I don't like him in Yankee Stadium. He's an extreme FB pitcher and that isn't good for YS. That being said, 1 run vs the O's isnt gonna win you games. Lopez has tremendous stuff, he just hadn't been able to locate. The sun shines on a dog's ass every now and then. We shall see what they do with Harvey tonight
  17. A bit of both. Urshela isnt a muscle bound hulk and Cole got COVID, so this time around, it's snake bites
  18. Snake bit. And Urshela just hit the IL
  19. So Heaney gives up 4 HR in 4 IP, Joely gives up 2 more and we are getting no hit. That’s how you get the home crowd buzzing. FML
  20. So this Heaney guy gives us a lot of homers
  21. He’s also the owner of a pedestrian stat line in AA this year. It would be quite the panic move to promote him, and I’ll tell you right now, Bloom isn’t gonna panic
  22. Lou Merloni was saying it provides a shot in the arm, some pep in the step when the FO adds key players at the deadline. Conversely, it is demoralizing to have a good team that isn’t added to because the Fo essentially says they don’t believe in them. He was pretty upset at the returns for the Sox. Two s***** relievers and a LFer who is hurt
  23. There is an ebb and flow, but your starters are gassed. Sale coming back could be a mixed bag. Same with Houck. Right now you have two reinforcements coming which could help right the ship.
  24. Staff as a whole includes your resurgent pen. The rotation is bad
  25. Ottavino was a Yankee for two seasons. He was absolutely nails the first half of his seasons, but he tires and becomes a Juggs machine at the end. Whitlock is a total whiff from Cashman. That kid got stronger from TJS
