  1. Post-Mo I am not sure. Mo sounds like he'll be back next yr and I am sure Soriano wont be opting out, so for next yr, we'll have options should Mo not come back vintage. I am not sure Robertson is cut out for the job. I think Joba could definitely do the job, but I'd want to see how he comes back from TJS. We have some hard throwing kids in the minors who might be closers in the making, but who knows until they make it through the system.
  2. Nor should it be. The doctors saw the injury, examined him and went by XRAYS for confirmation of rib fractures. Any intern can tell you that XRays are notoriously HORRIBLE for diagnosing rib fractures. If you went to a doctor who told you that it was just a bruise, sent you out to the field and later you found out you had 4 fractures, you'd probably be pretty skeptical as well. And Boras knows that a season like last yr will make him some big money. If Ells comes back healthy after the ASB and stays healthy next yr, he'll be making huge money.
  3. And thus ends the Red Sox career of Bobby Jenks. It also probably ends his career in total unless he decides to sign in Tampa next yr, where I'd expect him to save 47 games and win the comeback player of the year
  4. The next guy to move should be Ramon Flores. He's only 20, but he has started to hit the cover off the ball in High A. He's hitting .405 in his last 10 games with 2 homers. He's hitting .292 with 4HR in an extreme pitcher's league as well as 11 steals. He should be moved to AA where he can blossom into the solid hitter he should become. And Rafael Depaula continues to dominate the DSL. 4IP in his last start (they're building up hit arm) 2H, 0ER, 1BB and 7K. The kid should be in Charleston or Tampa right now.
  5. Doubront has hit the rookie wall. Some guys power through it and show a return to form and some guys just fall off a cliff. It's too early to make that determination
  6. I dont think they have much of a choice. You have 7 starters right now, and your top 3 is solid when they are healthy, so it isnt like you are dying in the rotation. Your bullpen has been the balls and playing way above their heads for 2 months now. And you are getting the runner up in the AL MVP voting back as well as a guy who is a perennial All Star sans once bad yr last yr. And your problems, as in the underperformance of key players, are guy who wont be moved (Pedroia) or cannot be moved (AdGon). You kinda have to ride with what you got
  7. He's hit a rough patch. 4.2IP 10H 8ER 3BB 3K in his last 2 starts. I think the promotion idea just went ouf the window for the time being. We'll see if he can right the ship in short order
  8. You have to win series vs the mediocre teams, sweep the bad teams and try to split with the good ones. Runs come and go, but consistent winning puts pressure on the streaking teams to maintain something that isnt maintainable. The sox pitching needs to step up a little, but it seems like it steps up when the offense dies and the pitching drops when the offense hits. They need a month where both are running full steam.
  9. Through July 15th 1. Beckett 2. Lester 3. Buchholz 4. Doubront 5. Morales 6. Cook I know it doesnt sound like a great idea, but I'd do 2 turns of a 6 man rotation, with the bottom three guys fighting it out for 2 spots in the rotation. Doubie was solid for 2.5 months, but has taken it on the chin of late. If he sucks again, I demote him to the pen as the long man. If he comes out and throws up a couple quality starts, you have to stick with him. Cook is probably going to be the winner of one of the spots, IMO, as he has a track record of success and his velocity has come back to a point where he can actually get guys out. I have a feeling it will be down to Doubront and Morales for the last spot in the rotation. Right now, that is obvious, but I have a feeling Franklin comes down to earth when he faces teams who know how to hit.
  10. I have no problem with people busting me for something I am doing. I dont like it when I get busted for something I am not doing
  11. The head guy who runs pinstripesplus.com just took over the red sox side. He thinks Bogaerts has the hands and the quicks to stick at shortstop short term, but will eventually outgrow the position and will be at a corner IF spot by the time he fills out. You're probably looking at a guy who can stay at SS until his late 20s
  12. Yankees moving and shakin.... Sent to Charleston- Jose Tuossen, Eduardo Sosa, Tyson Blaser Sent to Tampa- Tyler Austin, Gary Sanchez, Mason Williams, Kyle Higashioka Sent to Trenton- JR Murphy, Rob Segedin, Neil Medchill The big movers there are Austin, Sanchez, Williams, and Murphy. JR Murphy struggled early on in Tampa, hitting to a .650OPS through May with only 2 homers and 14RBI. But he came alive in June, hitting .314/.355/.500 with 3 homers and 13RBI. It was enough for him to move past a God awful offensive league into the more hitter friendly Eastern League. He remains on the fringe of the Yankees top 10 and will be one of the youngest players in AA at a freshly turned 21 Tyler Austin finishes his low A career with a slash line of .320/.405/.598 with 14HR and 17SB in 70 games as a 20 yr old. He will move up to High A where he will man RF for the recently departed Rob Segedin. Austin will have some trouble replicating his power numbers in a very power suppressed league with high heat, big parks, and no crowds. High A is less a proving ground and more a survival tactic for prospects everywhere Gary Sanchez finishes his low A career after having to repeat it from last yr. He finishes low A this season with a line of .297/.353/.517 with 13HR and 11SB in 68 games. He will take over the full time catching duties recently departed by the promoted JR Murphy. Sanchez is still 19 and will be one of the youngest players in the league Mason Williams finished his low A career with a triple slash line of .304/.359/.489 with 8HR and 19SBs. Williams was always gonna hit for average, but the bump in power was a nice find for the 20 yr old. He is starting to hit for more power to all fields and as he fills out, he could be a Jacoby Ellsbury type of player with 30+ steals and 20+HR power. He will slot into CF in Tampa and hope to survive. Rob Segedin is the last prospect on this list here. He's a 23 yr old college draftee from 2010 who thrived in Tampa, while others suffered. His slash line was solid at .297/.362/.448 with 7HR. The power was coming along nicely into early May, but he's hit 1 HR in a month and a half. He's more a corner OFer who can play some 3b and should see a bump in power as he moves out of the pitching hell hole of the FSL.
  13. I never said anything about a player regressing. READ THE POST. I said Ellsbury is not made of glass and has had two freak accidents happen to him.
  14. UN, you havent been around the site of late, have you. And did you read my post? Evidently not, since you apparently have no idea what you are talking about
  15. Once Nava went cold, the offense went in the shitter. It was bound to happen, he wasnt going to dominate the bigs for the whole yr. You have had plenty of guys playing over their heads to offset the s*** that had been AdGon, Youk (prior), and to a large extent Pedroia this season while also compensating for the losses of Crawford and Ellsbury. They have almost gotten you to the finish line where the 2 big guys are back. But once they do come back, you really cannot expect a guy like Ross to be on pace for nearly 40 homers (if he was healthy) and hit to a .900+OPS. You cannot expect Nava to continue his .400+OBP. You cannot expect Aviles to continue on to 90RBI. It was bound to happen, it just happened on the west coast.
  16. You missed Henry Owens at the bottom. From a Yankee perspective, this is fair, although the drop in Banuelos is mostly due to his injury, which isnt really all that good a reason. He's still young.
  17. yeah, we're gonna have to get lester, beckett and everyone in your farm system. Plus, your first rounder from here to eternity.
  18. Arod needs to hit the f***ing winstrol again.
  19. looks like it hit the bag
  20. Snakebit in this stadium
  21. from rotoworld
  22. V didnt rule out a DL stint for WMB
