  1. As much as guys have been killing the sox, they have actually put themselves in a good position to make that 1 game playoff. Mostly because the rest of the league has come back to them just as much as they have caught up to the rest of the league. The only team to leapfrop the sox is the Angels, who I think will easily grab the top WC spot since they are continuing to play well and have the personnell to win it all. That second spot is going to be a dog fight. And by dog fight, I mean little wimpy and sickly do fight. Like a 15 yr old Yorkie fighting with a 19 yr old Jack Russell terrier. You're looking at the Orioles, the Tigers, the Jays, the Rays, and the Guardians. The Jays have been decimated in their rotation and will likely hang around the outskirts of the race, but they arent for real. The Guardians completely suck. The Orioles have run out of gas. The Tigers are unerachieving mostly in their rotation. Fister is now back, which will help and Smyly just got off the DL with his blister issue. Throw in some stability with Albuquerque returning and the Tigers are set up for a run. They are 3 games back of Boston, but they will definitely be in the running come the end The Rays have been hit by a buzzsaw of injuries as well. And they lack the offensive depth to handle it, especially with their best player being out for 2 months. If Longo doesnt come back, then the Rays are the sexier version of the A's, all pitching, no hit. If Longo comes back, then their lineup instantly get a boost all around and they have a shot.
  2. They have to do something at SafeCo. It is absolutely in the heads of the hitters. They should augment the fences.
  3. Ortiz is a lefty. WMB is a righty. He should massacre lefties
  4. Their opinions are as valid as yours and mine. The physics doesnt add up that only in Yankee Stadium does the ball travel 340 feet when hit in a single direction on a warm day if a bear shits in the woods and the blue moon get jumped over by a cow. But if it was Citi field, it'd be a 250 foot popup. Cmon man. The homers to RCF, you have a case with since the YS fence is some 40 feet shorter to the gap than most stadiums, but HR's to dead RF you have no case on
  5. He didnt adjust as much as the pitchers he faced afterwards didnt have good changeups.
  6. I think we have seen WMB's kryptonite. He cannot sit on a change
  7. They had an article in one of the newspapers postulating a deal for King Felix. Would you deal Ellsbury and Lester for Felix?
  8. The ball travels well in the heat in every stadium
  9. There are a few of us who talked about the fact that the sox were playing with dynamite here. Most thought it couldnt hurt, a few (take a bow Dojji), thought he'd be an ACE, LIGHTS OUT!! But I said that he came into professional baseball with impressive physical talents but a 10 cent head. They had to strip him down and make it easy on him to succeed. And succeed he did. They should have taken his struggles as a closer into account when they slotted him into the rotation. He's a great setup man, elite, rubber armed relief ace. But they f***ed with him, and now they need to teach an older dog new tricks. Kids can turn around their mental woes. Men have more trouble. And unf***ing a guy with his kind of prior success will be hard to do
  10. He's a rookie now in his second half of his first season in the bigs as a starter. You should expect a little hiccup here.
  11. so the laws of physics are bent in Yankee stadium. And Goose is the new Einstein, cmon man. The only area that is a joke is RCF. RF is short in a lot of stadiums, but the Yankees keep RCF short as well. A 350 foot flyball to RCF is an out in all parks except NY.
  12. On May 1, a lot of Yankee fans, including myself, were calling for Hughes to move to the pen. At that time, Hughes was flashing a heater in the 93-94 range for 2 innings, then would drop off into the 80s and he'd get pummeled. At the time, Hughes was 1-4 with a 7.48ERA. The following start, he was okay, a quality start vs KC, but a strange thing happened in that game. Hughes maintained his velocity into the 6th, something he hadnt done all yr. Since that May 1 start, he has been an ace. His numbers are as follows Pre-May 2- 5 starts 1-4 7.48ERA 21.2IP 28H 18ER 7BB 23K 7HR 1.61WHIP 9.5K/9IP 3.3K/BB Post- May 2- 11 starts 8-2 3.34ERA 72.2IP 69H 27ER 15BB 66K 12HR 1.15WHIP 8.2K/9IP 4.4K/BB In the meantime, Hughes has slowed down his curve and can locate it. He's sitting low to mid 90s and carrying it into the later innings. Plus, he's pitched into the 8th inning 4 times in those 11 starts. He's been an ace since his resurgence, and he is going to be leaned on heavily.
  13. Chavez' homer went 340-350 feet dead right field. The only park that isnt out of is Fenway
  14. 2 2 run homers later and the yanks are leading
  15. Ryan is their team prez. Defense and pitching are important to him. Andrus is a great defender and he's young. They're not moving him
  16. DeWayne Wise is turning into quite the pickup. I think he'll be our starting LFer until Gardy comes back. Long tightened up his swing and he looks like a new player out there
  17. I'm okay with not watching that one. Yankees gotta come together now
  18. That sucked. Robertson isn't a closer, but if he's your closer for the night, you gotta let him start the inning clean
  19. I'll be at the game tonight, so enjoy all
  20. We have a day off before the series, so we will be able to align the rotation accordingly You guys will get Kuroda, Hughes, Garcia and Nova
