  1. Franklin Morales will go 6IP, allow 2ER and everyone will call him a saviour because he shut down the Mariners in SafeCo, lol.
  2. There is no conspiracy, but what motivation does a team have for being honest with their fan base about injuries? They dont. This isnt an orthopedic injury, this is a medical condition
  3. The NFL is a newer product and the Pats dont have the same history as the sox. There are a ton of Massachusetts Giants fans because prior to the Pats, the Giants were the only game in town. In 50 yrs, that'll change.
  4. Franklin Gutierrez has been dealing with gastritis/esophagitis for 2 yrs now and has missed significant time with flare ups. The sox are definitely downplaying this, because further flares will mean further DL time
  5. Barnes got lit for the first time his last start, 5ER, 7 baserunners in 3.2IP. We'll see how he bounces back tonight
  6. Kotsay in his prime was a leadoff guy. I think everything about Bradley screams leadoff guy.
  7. This is a 6-8 week injury. Will need to rebuild his arm afterwards. He won't be back until end of August, early September. In terms of who is gonna be pitching, we are gonna really just have to replace one guy. CC's spot will only need a spot starter twice. That isnt the end of the world. This spot will need to throw maybe 10 times, so that's a big loss. Right now Adam Warren and Freddy Garcia are in the rotation, but David Phelps will not be too far behind. Phelps was demoted to build his arm strength. He'll be at the 60 pitch count in his next outing in the minors and after that should be up to around 80 or so. If he can make it to 80, he can do it in the bigs. So the line will probably be Garcia and Warren for the next turn in the rotation and whoever sucks the most will get replaced by Phelps. It really is too bad Banuelos is hurt and Betances has sucked, cause we could use them right now. But it is time to use that solid upper level depth
  8. This one hurts.
  9. It's amazing that the sox just own this guy so much. Romero just flat out sucks vs the sox
  10. Lavs isnt a big upgrade over Salty. I do think an defensive minded backstop would help your staff, but neither of those guys are defensive minded backstops. You go with the one that is producing
  11. f*** me sideways, Freddy longball Garcia will take his spot in the rotation. You've gotta be f***ing kidding me
  12. I've talked to some non-red sox scouts who say that Bradley's defense is good and that his power isnt likely to be anything special. He also isnt a burner on the bases. He's likely to be more in the mold of a Mark Kotsay with better contact skills. And when I say Kotsay, I dont mean the 4th OFer in SD. I am talking about the guy who hit close to .300, had an OBP in the .360-.370 range and played good defense round the turn of the century with at most 15 homers.
  13. You've been grasping at straws all year and you're grasping again. We'll see how this plays out, but it seems like your favorite flavor is the flavor of the month
  14. It's a grade I groin strain. These take 2 weeks or so to heal as long as they dont push it. He's a big guy with huge leg drive, so they have to give him some extra time, and with the ASB going, we should only need a spot starter twice, even though he can get 22 days rest if we time it right. I'd put him as the 5th starter coming out of the break, and with nearly 3 weeks of rest, he should be fine. My guess is we will see Adam Warren throw. He's been lights out of late and is the only one truly ready to pitch a game. Phelps is being weaned back into starting, but he needs another 2-3 weeks before he'll be stretched out, Mitchell has been struggling, and Garcia better never go near the starting bump again
  15. Strained adductor in leg, will miss 2 starts
  16. Rafael DePaula is really getting hurt by needing to stay in the Dominican this yr. He has dominated in his 21IP. Only 22 baserunners and 32K coming off 5 1 hit innings yesterday. The guy should be in Tampa or Charleston right now.
  17. SFF, they converted him to relief because he was inconsistent. He's been pretty consistently average out of the pen for you guys. His last 2 outings are aberrancies. Also, I did look up some stats SFF. I said more "patient offenses". The Braves arent patient. They are 16th in the bigs in walks. That's middle of the pack. Chicago is 29th. My point stands
  18. Patient teams also foul off pitcher's pitches and will hit good pitches in early counts. A patient team doesnt necessarily mean they just sit there until they are punched out. It just means they wait for their pitch. If it's the first one, they will hack.
  19. That'll do it. He seems to find different ways to get himself on the DL every yr. In 2010, it was a hammy pull running the bases. 2011, it was the spinal fracture. 2012, it is gut rot with a GI bleed. Next yr, he will develop Hantavirus, in 2014, he'll have Valley Fever and in 2015, he'll have disseminated gonorrhea after he finds out his wife has been cheating on him
  20. You guys are funny. Morales throws 2 solid games against teams with pretty useless offenses and all of a sudden he is "hell yeah...awesome". There is a reason Morales farted around in Colorado as a starter before they eventually stashed him in the pen and gave him away for nothing. He is tantalizing. When his stuff hits, he is unhittable. When he loses his command, he has to come in and he gets crushed. You guys complaining about DiceK will love Franklin when he stops locating. He's given you two solid replacement starts. Wait until he faces an offense with some patience who will work him into hitters counts and just start blasting away. You'll be calling for his head
  21. The Phillies should be looking to lock up Hamels. This yr is a punt yr for the Phillies. Their two best hitters have missed the entire yr. Their best pitcher is on the shelf with a shoulder injury, their 3rd ace has missed time with an oblique injury and their All Star CFer and SS have slumped this yr. They are probably not going to make the playoffs, but with the guys on their roster who should be healthy come 2013, they should dominate the east
