  1. Scutaro=God
  2. The Rays need to move to Vegas
  3. This apparently was premature. They have agreed on yrs, not on cash
  4. Peavy is gonna be expensive since he was effectively an ace this yr. Sanchez has a good track record and his performance in the POs has helped him.
  5. Good for the Giants. And Buster Posey is showing he is a pretty valuable player even when he doesnt hit. 3 yrs in the league, one ended with injury, the other two will end in the world series
  6. Andrus has been a very good defender at a premium position. Ellsbury has graded out as inconsistent and lost a ton this yr.
  7. That is because Ellsbury had one amazing season. Ellsbury's ceiling is a lot higher, but he's also coming off a terrible, injury plagued yr. Andrus is more consistent
  8. A trade involving Ellsbury and Andrus would currently require the sox to chip in more to even it out. That wasnt the case a yr ago
  9. If the sox plan to go for it for next yr, then they have to re-sign him. If they see themselves rebuilding, then they really have to let him go and take a pick. I think they offer him the qualifying offer, see him reject it 5 days later and let him linger to see how their team comes together. If it is obvious that they're gonna suck, they have to let him walk. What's the point of having an expensive late 30s DH around to make your team suck a little less
  10. I do admire his gusto. He also had a flair for killing the Yankees, so you guys love him.
  11. Ciriaco is due for a major, major reversal of fortune. He has no patience and cannot hit a breaking ball.
  12. I wonder if the sox would look at a guy like Mike Morse. Plays COF or 1B, is a righty power guy and prior to his injury this yr, actually reached base at a good clip. He might be someone you could get who would blossom in Boston
  13. Eating a bit of the penalty isnt really feasible. Going past 5% of the cap loses you a 1st rounder. Going past 10% loses you 2 first rounders. Also, the INTL signees contracts count in total towards the cap. So, if they sign a 4 yr $10 mil deal, then $10 mil hits the cap this yr.
  14. As long as the sox manager doesnt stifle/insult the kids and doesnt create a media firestorm, it will be an improvement.
  15. I have said before that his injuries are due to freak accidents, but he lost his power completely since getting injured. If you look at he player he was at the end of the yr, you'd be hard pressed to get anything for him since he is on a 1 yr deal. He is actually a guy you might get more in return at the deadline than you will in the offseason. If he goes out next yr and has 30 steals, 20 HR and a .300 average by July 31st, then you will get a humongous haul, much more than you will get right now
  16. Ellsbury has to be healthy, and he showed no inkling that he is. Andrus put up a 3.4 WAR last yr, which isnt too shabby. I think the sox are stuck with Ellsbury, and gladly, IMO. They are expecting to get 2011 value but teams wont be offering that. The sox would be stupid to settle on him, and other teams would be stupid to deal the farm expecting he is a 30HR player.
  17. I think the Rangers would definitely have pulled the trigger on that prior to 2012, but after seeing the shell of a player Ells returned as after his injury, I doubt they make that move. I especially doubt they'd do it since Ells has 1 yr left on his contract too.
  18. It's not necessarily the age, it's the ability. Jeter was an all-star level offensive player this yr at the age of 38. Mariano was doing well at the age of 42 when he blew out his knee. Pettitte had a solid 12 starts. What we need to do is diminish the roles of the guys who are obviously slipping (ARod) while increasing youth and athleticism around them. We cannot have a bench full of geriatrics while having a lineup full of them too
  19. CC isnt out for the yr, he'll be ready for ST. Mariano will be replacing Soriano. Jeter will be back for opening day. C, 3B, and COF are definite needs
  20. http://wickershamsconscience.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/patent_troll_2.jpg
  21. Shahei Ofani is coming to the states. Let's see who nabs him
  22. Aviles was a 1.8WAR SS and per fangraphs, was worth $7.9 mil last yr. If they get Lind, then its smart, if not, I am unsure you can justify the move for a subpar skipper
  23. Me too, but they either think a contract yr or a trade will be worth more than a supp pick
