  1. There is still another offensive move to be made. They need a RH bat that can hit. I don't think we're out on Napoli and I do think we'll be in on keppinger.
  2. You mean the team that played in the ALCS, right?
  3. Yankees are "confident" they can re-sign Ichiro. The same news leaked on Kuroda and he was in the fold within 48 hours. The Yankees are also starting negotations with Martin.
  4. Those who are counting on Lackey could be disappointed. He has to ramp up without a setback, which isnt a guarantee. And expecting 200IP out of him is crazy. He's a wild card
  5. The offense with Papi and Middlebrooks will be able to get started enough to not be a liability. They just need one more bat to be a top 10 offense. The pitching needs revamping. Anything on the offensive end that drains the coffers for the pitching funds should be avoided
  6. He's looking for 1 yr $8 mil and a starting job and there are a few teams offering him something of the sort. He sounds like he is giving the Yankees the first crack
  7. Pick the right seedy bar and you can get f***ed up with twenty bucks
  8. I think the sox are better served by passing on Greinke and Sanchez, signing a guy like Haren, giving their team a chance to declare itself and looking at what goes on north of the border in their own division. Should Josh Johnson put up an ace level season in the AL East, then he should be target numero uno next offseason to lead your rotation
  9. The sox dont need to overpay for a guy with okay stats and a significant arm injury history. They have already gone that route. They need an anchor to their staff. The only guy on the market who fits that bill has psychiatric issues.
  10. That is true. Reddick would have solved your issue in LF last yr, though, but you are right. The all power and nothing else crowd are overrated.
  11. Hughes would have been your ace last yr, btw. That's not saying much. Hughes is a guy with top of the rotation peripherals and stuff, he just has short stretches a la Buchholz where he is absolutely abhorrent. He is no ace, that's for sure
  12. Swisher is a guy renowned for his clubhouse presence but really known for his post-season struggles.
  13. For the Long Island Ducks
  14. I am telling you with 100% certainty that Napoli was fielding lots of grounders and playing a ton of 1b in warmups and ST.
  15. If Napoli was a serviceable first baseman, he would have started there last yr when they had Michael Young playing. It isnt like he never practiced there.
  16. Rotating players into a DH role is good for teams with older players. But now that the sox have effectively dealt away all their older players, it really would be a hole if Ortiz moved on. I think it is a yr by yr thing for the sox once Papi retires. If the sox reload with veterans and suddenly they have a few 35+ yr old regulars out there, then they kinda have to leave the Dh spot open. If in 2 yrs they are full of young players then they can afford a 1 yr DH stopgap signing
  17. Lester is down 1.5mph off his best seasons. He was 92.0mph last yr per fangraphs and his average in 09-10 was 93.5. Not a big drop, but it is more than just a little drop. His problem isnt stuff, though, it's location
  18. The issue becomes, where does he play? In Anaheim and Texas, he was a guy who could DH for you. In Boston, that spot is full. He's a complete butcher behind the dish and his history of recurrent injuries makes catching risky. And he isnt really a 1b. He's a bat with no real position. My guess is they will have him as the emergency catcher, play him mostly at first and fill in at DH when Papi needs a rest or is hurt. Then in yr 3, he'd move to DH full time
  19. Reddick hit 32 bombs while playing half his games in Oakland. Sufficed to say, he would have been even better if he played elsewhere.
  20. Napoli is holding out for a 4 yr contract. That might be a wee bit too steep IMO
  21. Wait, so the contributions of Ivan Nova, Phil Hughes, David Phelps, David Robertson and Joba were insignificant? C'mon man, you're better than that. Re-upping Kuroda and hopefully Pettitte will hold the fort for one more yr. by then, Marshall, Banuelos, Warren, Phelps et al should be ready to step up
  22. I'm sure they're out on him now. Kuroda is back, Pettitte will be on his coattails and we are in business
  23. You guys need to go out dinner, order a nice bottle of wine or two. Maybe some champagne, if you have a little extra cash. Head back to a hotel, watch a nice movie and then throw a few into each other and get out the angst.
  24. This is a very good, under the radar move. I have a feeling you will be seeing him platoon with Kalish to start the yr to get the kid some confidence and get Gomes comfortable in his new digs
  25. 150K's to 46 walks. His K rates are astronomical and his walk rates are meager for a power hitter. Also, his average has been kept up with an unsustainable .370BABIP. Once he gets to the bigs and that domino falls, he's gonna be a .220 hitter with a .280OBP and good power. Sounds like Salty
