  1. If the sox goal is to rebuild, you sign a guy like Wilson or Soria and let them recoup value and deal them at the deadline for more moving parts
  2. Cause the guy throws half his throws into centerfield, lol. He seemed to rectify that in the minors, and I think he can handle it, but I think Romine is more suited to the starting role.
  3. Romine is ready defensively. Remains to be seen what kind of offensive player he can be. Won't have Martin's power, but he can hit .270+ and walk his fair share.
  4. Because you are asking them to take a lower amount than what they are going to get. Sanchez is expected to sign a deal for 5-6 yrs at an annual rate at or above $15 million
  5. I cannot believe they actually said that, lol. My guess is they saw that they have a kid who can replace Martin defensively in the minors right now and are willing to live with his shortcomings offensively since Martin was no huge producer
  6. The Yankees didn't have the money to match the offer? C'mon now
  7. Why does everyone think guys are itching to come to Boston on a discount?
  8. I am not sure how committed they were to Martin at catcher. They loved his defense, but his offense was putrid. They have options in house with Romine being the one who I think will take over eventually. I just didn't think it was gonna be this yr. But Napoli would give them offense from the position to counteract Romine for half the games in 2013, then see if the kid sinks or swims enough to win the job outright for 2014, moving Napoli to DH
  9. I could see Napoli with NY, a way to break Romine in as an everyday catcher over time.
  10. The Yankees do not want Salty, period.
  11. Martin going to the Pirates. My guess is they will go with AJ Pierzynski with Romine as his platoon mate. 2 yrs at $17 mil is a pretty good get for Martin, surprised the Yanks didnt at least match that
  12. Ah yes, the old Yankee fan in a Red Sox forum, ie the strawman of all strawmen
  13. The tigers were "in control" in game 1, when it took 4 extra frames to finish the game? They were "in control" of game 2 while not scoring through the first 6 innings? They were "in control" of game 3 up 1 with the tying and winning runs on base for the Yankees hottest playoff performer? You're being a moron
  14. You called me out for the fact that the Yankees went 5 games with a team that won 90+ games and knocked out the two time defending AL champ? And you're knocking us cause we beat them? That's f***ing retarded. The Yankees got swept by the tigers, no debate there. To say they were "raped" is completely idiotic as well. The first 3 games were very tight, one going 13 innings, another scoreless into the 7th, the third a 1 run loss. The only game truly out of reach was game 4. You're making a fool of yourself here
  15. It's an asinine comment. Guess what, the Giants barely made it to the NLCS and the World Series. It means nothing.
  16. Lester's problem isnt physical, he lost his way last yr. It's easier to fix a mental issue rather than a physical loss of stuff. While I don't forsee a 20 win 220IP 3.10ERA season next yr, I think he starts progressing towards his natural ability
  17. This makes no sense. Why deal Bailey now? He's completely useless in a trade offer as his arb number will be pricier than his production indicated. You have to hold him, build his value and either keep him or deal him when the stock is high
  18. Debating whether the Yankees were any good when they won the most games in the AL while being in a division with 3 of the top 6 teams in the AL is no small feat. They just died in the playoffs, so be it. How any Red Sox fan could conceivably consider the Yankees as not belonging is just absurd since their team effectively died and gave up on their way to 93 losses.
  19. He didn't have any nagging injuries last yr, just the fluke comebacker. When you have a 38 yr old and a 41 yr old in your rotation, you need a reliable 6, and we have one
  20. He did hit .322 with the Yankees last yr.
  21. He may not rebound, but his FIP says he pitched better than his ERA last yr. He's a good bet to have an ERA around or below 4 next yr.
  22. The thing in NY is that he would be a placeholder. The Yankees have 3 very talented OFers starting in Trenton (AA) this yr. Only one needs to emerge to take that spot in RF for 2014
  23. That couldnt be further from the truth. Pettitte and Hughes were great in the POs, we just couldnt hit
  24. Barely making it there means they made it there. How'd the sox do?
  25. Myers is a stud in the making, but you'd be pulling from your weakness.
