  1. C- Wong- can't hit, not a good catcher 1B- Casas- kid can hit, he is an awful 1b 2B- open SS- Story- lost half season, sucked on return. Should be healthy going into ST, but he is never healthy it seems 3B- Devers- ended up with a solid, albeit unspectacular season for him. Middle of the order bat no question LF- Yoshida- guy can make contact, not much power and absolutely abysmal defense. Better served at DH CF- Duran- had a good year. Unsustainable start, big valley, good recovery then hurt. If he can stay on the field, he could provide good value RF- Verdugo- 2.0WAR RF. Not great, not terrible, just meh DH- Turner- 38 yrs old in 24. Probably going to see a downturn at some point. Yoshida's ultimate destination SP1- Bello- kid was solid. Started striking out batters by year's end. Electric stuff SP2- Sale- middling season. Quietly made 20 starts and is perpetually hurt SP3- Crawford- quietly had a good year. Learned how to keep the ball in the yard. Best served as the #5 SP4- open SP5- open Anyone who thinks Houck and Whitlock should be in the rotation are out of their f***ing minds. Both of those guys had 5+ ERAs and dealt with injury after getting the Joba Chamberlain treatment. They're nails in the pen. Leave em there and stop messing with them Sox farm isn't as "now ready" as it should be for a team that finished last 3 of the last 4 years. Mayer took a step back. Raffaele is MLB ready, but they'll likely groom him a little more. Sox pen should be deep if they stop f***ing around with Whitlock and Houck. They have money to burn and need to burn it in the rotation. Sox are hard to gauge here. I don't think their upside is as high as the Yanks right now because their issues were less injury and more poor roster construction (lots of DH's) or poor operational decisions (two lights out relievers being tried as starters). But because their only real long term "albatross" contract is for their star 3b who is producing at a high level, they can afford to inject massive quantities of cash into their issues and with Bloom fired, it is what they will likely do. The sox might be the most intriguing team to follow through the hot stove
  2. Everything that could go wrong, went wrong. You have the best hitter in the game. You have the best starting pitcher in the game. You have to do something until they become corpses too.
  3. What a giant bag of s*** that season was. Our rotation was gonna be nails. Cole held up his end as the odds on favorite to win the CY Rodon couldn't stay healthy and when he feigned health, he was abysmal Severino was hurt, then pitched like s***, then got hurt, then came back pretty solid then got hurt Montas was hurt all of but game Schmidt was solid until his innings caught up with him and he tired out Cortes wasn't himself, got hurt, looked good for a start then got hurt again German relapsed on alcohol when he realized his offense wouldn't support him Brito was ok as an 8th starter King was moved into the rotation and has a good shot at starting there next year The pen was good. It is looking to lose Wandy but we should get Effross back and a few other additions The offense. Man, it was offensive. There were bright spots. Torres had an OPS over .800 for the first time since his 2nd year. Judge was awesome when he was on the field. Higgy wasn't bad offensively for a catcher. But the rest was abysmal. It was so bad that hot shot rookie Jasson Dominguez's UCL committed suicide after it became acutely aware that the 20 yr old rookie would have to carry the team Where to go from here. Well, the ghost of Josh Donaldson's past is gone. We let Bader go for nothing and he did what he does best, get hurt. Rizzo got concussed but it took a month for him to figure that out. We still have the corpses of DJ Lemahieu and Giancarlo Stanton under contract until I can apply for AARP. Money will have to be infused for sure C- Trevino. I would re-sign Higgy as well. You can do worse, you can do better, but just keep the two together for now 1B- Wells or Rizzo. Wells was good in his final week after starting slow. Rizzo, if right, is perfect for this park. Gotta make sure he is right, though 2B- Torres- he ain't great, but he is our second best hitter, so keep him I guess SS- Volpe will improve, especially if they get rid of the HR first swing. Kid just needs to make contact and his speed will easily hit .290. 3B- SOMEONE WHO CAN HIT. Lemahieu is dead. Peraza is a good prospect, but even his highest projection offensively is not a 3b. LF- SOMEONE WHO CAN HIT. Oswaldo Cabrera may just have had a bad second season or he may have been found out. Who knows, but bring in someone who can hit. Pereira was rushed and needs time in AAA CF- SOMEONE WHO CAN HIT on a shorter term deal or can slate over to LF when the new LFer leaves via FA or dies or whatever so Dominguez can take his rightful place RF- Judge- best hitter in the game when he is available DH- SOMEONE WHO CAN HIT. If we pencil Gian-f***o into the lineup on day 1, I will vomit. He is a platoon split lefty killer who acts blind when a righty pitches. We need Rizzo to not be concussed and 4 offensive additions, plus probably one pen addition and a #2 (Yamamoto) to pair with Cole until Rodon realizes he has an arm or Nestor remembers he used to be Nasty. No clue who is out there. We will likely need to make some trades. Maybe Hal allows for a massive spending spree. Either way, what a f***ing deflating year, especially since my son finally got into the game and he had to watch this shitstain team play night in and night out
  4. Man this sucks. RIP Tim
  5. My autocorrect is all f***ed up
  6. Awful. His wife has pancreatic cancer. Tom has aggressive brain cancer. Their kids are 19 and 16 and might be orphans all at once. f*** cancer man
  7. Yanks have been in the POs many, many, many years since Cashman took over. I’ve been an ardent Cashman supporter up until the last two years. He’s botched two straight deadlines and botched the off-season. That’s enough to go after him now
  8. They were spoiled by Theo, a guy who could build and win at the same time. Those guys are rare now
  9. This is on Henry, though. And it fits the pattern. Bring in a builder and sack them when the owner gets sick of building. Then bring in a guy who will burn it to the ground for a short window and fire him when the earth is salted and nothing can grow
  10. His problem was he was paralyzed by analysis again. He never dealt away prospects and watched some turn into turds.
  11. Sam Fuld is from New England. I played against him in AAU ball. Guy was a stud
  12. The axe swung today. My bet is he is bringing in a Dombrowski type to leverage the farm and get good again
  13. It’s a wee bit insane right? 20 yr old outfielder woke up with a sore arm. Needs reconstructive elbow surgery. Wtf?
  14. And as if this year isn’t enough of a kick in the pants, the Martian tore his UCL
  15. Another dinger from the Martian
  16. That being said, the sox really need to add a TOTR starter. Sale isn't that anymore. Bello is turning into more of a sinkerballer than a lead dog. Still effective, but more contact than I would expect from someone with his stuff. Paxton will leave via FA. Mata might step in, but he will be handled with kid gloves as he cannot stay healthy. Whitlock has been a mess and should be returned to the pen. Anyone think Crawford is a good starter? You have one guy you can rely on to be there (Bello), one guy who will be there when he is healthy which is rare (Sale) and 3 true openings. You need a stopper
  17. Bloom has yet to do so. His biggest FA signee (Story) sat on the market for months before signing in ST to a pretty team friendly (at the time) deal for a cornerstone SS
  18. Montero's issue wasn't talent, it was drive. This kid is clearly driven. I think the future looks good with him and Volpe joining Judge and Torres. But we cannot rely on these kids right now. Gotta add this offseason. We need at least one left handed bat
  19. The sox have outperformed expectations in 23. They were competitive and on the outside of the WC chase most of the year. They are fun to watch and have cobbled together a very effective offense, especially when their "one big star" is having a down year. Bloom has yet to prove he can bring in stable pitching. His TB ways of throwing s*** against the wall and watching it stick isn't working. He needs to invest in the rotation and the pen this offseason. Sox are 7th in OPS in the majors. Sox are 21st in team ERA. Most of the O is coming back. Maybe Mayer takes the next step next year and solidifies SS while moving Story to 2b.
  20. Dominguez is really showing he belongs. 20 yr old switch hitting CFer who is crushing balls out of Yankee stadium. Maybe he's the next Mantle? Or maybe he becomes a flash in the pan
  21. FYI, Hal just threw down the gauntlet about trades and publicly chastised Cashman's moves. I think this is a clean sweep here
  22. No, there’s no 20 year old that’s a lock for anything
  23. Dominguez doesn't look too bad right now
  24. The Yanks have the better prospects with the closest proximity. They won't all hit, but some will. Or they parlay those guys into someone of value. Who knows. But Wells, Pereira, Peraza, Volpe and Dominguez have been top 10 on their prospect list for awhile. Add them to Judge, Torres and Rizzo and one or two middle of the order bats on the trade or FA market and we should be able to return to some semblance of usefulness
  25. You can also find a good hitting 1b pretty cheaply in season. They have his ready made replacement in Wells behind him anyway.
