  1. BTV is a dumb score and always shades towards youth. King isn’t somewhat injury prone. King’s elbow broke a couple years ago. I said at the time I thought his career would be immeasurably altered and for a year it wasn’t. But calloused bone never heals stronger than it was. His elbow is a time bomb. I think Cash was happy to offload him knowing this
  2. Thorpe is probably a reliable mid rotation starter. King hurts, but he’s got only 2 years left before FA anyway and has a long injury history. If they snag Yamamoto, then he wasn’t necessary. Vazquez and Brito were depth, but not top end level pitching. What I like is they didn’t touch their best offensive prospects and with Dugo and Soto on one year deals, we have the chance to see what Pereira, Dominguez, Volpe, Wells, and Peraza can do. In the end, I like the deal as the Yanks need to be relevant for them to make money. If they didn’t spend and left the fans in another year of apathetic spending, the financial loss would be considerable
  3. He is only injured every odd year
  4. So C: Trevino 1B: Rizzo 2b: Torres SS: Volpe 3B: Lemahieu LF- Soto CF- Judge RF- Verdugo DH- Stanton That is an improved lineup. Glad we didn't part with any major offensive players. I loved King, but he only had two years of control left. Thorpe is the big get for SD. With King out, it makes me think Yama is a gonna be a done deal to NY 1. Cole 2. Yama 3. Cortes 4. Rodon 5. Schmidt By dealing King, Vazquez and Brito, we definitely damage our depth in the pen. Probably need to make an add there.
  5. I think it is Dugo in LF for now. Dominguez will be the CFer after the ASB, so they don't need a long termer there. I would keep Judge where he is most comfortable. Now, if they get Soto, Judge moves to CF and we roll from there. But for now, Dugo LF, Judge RF, ??? in CF
  6. I cannot understand, though, why the sox not only got such a s***** return, but did so by sending him to NY. IMO Verdugo is going to be really good for the Yanks. He's a lefty in YS and he is on a platform season. I like this from the Yanks perspective. We shall see if he can fall in line and be a good add or if he tears apart the clubhouse.
  7. It’s a salary dump in the end. The Sox got Weissert who was about to be DFA’d. Fitts is an ok prospect who’d be a rule V selection. The other guy is a nothing, IMO. Verdugo will fit well in NY. We desperately needed a lefty who can make contact. I’m hoping this isn’t the only add, clearly, but I like Dugo at arb payout over signing Bellinger to a forever deal.
  8. Rebuilding involves bringing in and developing talent. Bloom made some questionable amateur talent acquisitions and had a development team that really didn't seem very good at all. Brez needs to make some wholesale changes on an organizational level
  9. The problem with several lesser upgrades is our roster is pretty full. 13 offensive players make a roster Catcher is a black hole offensively but you need to carry 2 1b- Rizzo 2b- Torres SS- Volpe 3B- Lemahieu UTIL- Peraza LF- hole CF- hole RF- Judge DH Stanton 4th OF Pereira That leaves a starting LF, starting CF and one more bench spot. Rizzo, Lemahieu and Stanton aren’t moveable. We don’t have the ability to pull a Rays here
  10. They need more than that. Moto goes to the 1, Bello to the 2. The rest is a crap shoot.
  11. I'm fully aware. I am surprised he isn't pushing a long term deal with a 2 year out clause. That is what I would do. Get the security of the long deal but the chance to opt out after a first full season healthy on the mound
  12. He is a world class hitter. If he takes the mound and returns to form, his worth will be over $500m
  13. 2 starters, a decent DH and a 2b. That is really it. You can get the last two for low money. Big money is the first 2. It isn't hard. Pen should be good. Lineup needs tweaks but should be good. Rotation blows
  14. He does make sense defensively, but we had good D last year and we had wet noodles at the plate. We need someone who can protect Judge and can play the field. We are out on Ohtani. We are not enamored with Bellinger. Soto would be a great add, but a one year rental at a high prospect price doesn't add much when we know he is hitting the market after 24. Why not just get him next year and fill in around Judge? With Ohtani out of the NY sphere, I don't know where we can turn honestly. Outside of a bunch of old guys finding the fountain of youth, I am not confident in 24 already
  15. The AL is wide open. Houston showed cracks this year. Texas just got hot at the right time, but they weren't great. Baltimore and TB had great seasons, but Baltimore has no rotation and TB lost its best player to kiddy diddling. The Yanks looked old. Toronto just hasnt reached its potential. Normally, a last place team should take the measured approach and team build, but the sox aren't far from being a playoff team and without a true top team, they can win it if they just add to the top of the rotation
  16. Sox really have no excuse. The offense is good enough. The pen, if the right guys are moved back to pen roles, should be solid. Their rotation is short 2 top arms. If they don't get them, there really isn't much excuse
  17. I also don’t want Bellinger after looking at his metrics. He isn’t squaring up the ball and his season line is looking like a lucky platform season. If you’re planning to pony up $30 mil AAV for Bellinger, just escalate that by 50% and snag Ohtani
  18. Nola signing is probably an overpay. His aggregate stats are skewed by one ridiculous season. He’s been a steady, durable starter through his career but probably malpositioned to be considered their ace. The 6th and 7th years were tacked on understanding he will likely be in the garbage heap by then. This is a 5 year deal spread out to 7
  19. Ohtani to LAD is more likely, IMO, especially if Kershaw is done Yamamota to the Yankees Nola to the Cards Snell to the Red Sox Kershaw to the retirement heap Bauer to the DBacks. Gray to the Cubs Montgomery back to TX ERod to BOS
  20. Ohtani initially couldn't get max money. His age allowed him to fall into the INTL draftee pool and limited his upside in terms of cash. Hence, he chose location. Now, he can truly maximize his income. I hope the Yanks get him, honestly. They have good prospects. I would rather see us fill the holes with the prospects and use the FA market rather than deal away for a guy who is on a short term deal like Soto
  21. Yes, what we need is bunting. Nail hit right on the f***ing head. SMH
  22. Don't hold your breath. Nowadays, the beginning of the hot stove is a snore. You won't hear much until January
  23. He does, but he has his issues. He might need to go overseas to rebuild his value
  24. German and Cordero released
