  1. By that determination, Mookie Betts sucks since he has no rings, right?
  2. There's no point in hiring a GM. Dombrowski is the GM. He's also seemingly pushing out all remnants of the Theo regime. Btw, if Theo's Cubs win the WS, he goes down as possibly the best team builder of all time. And he can shake the stigma that he really won with Dan's team in Boston. He truly built the Cubs from the ground up. And they're a juggernaut set to dominate for awhile
  3. I read someone say the sox have $30 mil to spend. That's not quite accurate. You're at $148 mil for 11 players. Based on arb projections, you're likely to spend about $25 mil on arbitration players. The lux tax had been $189 mil for three seasons. If it doesn't rise, then the sox will have about $16 mil in AAV to add before hitting the limit. And that doesn't include filling out the rest of the squad or the likelihood the sox pick up Buchholz' option. Bottom line, the lux tax is irrelevant. You're gonna blow past it
  4. Petrocelli or Nomar?
  5. I think they hold onto him and maximize value once they prove he's healthy. No point in taking a lesser return
  6. Wade Davis will cost an astronomical amount and wont come with any guarantees. Remember, he went down with a "forearm" injury. Who knows what happens in spring training with him
  7. 5 more outs. One curse will end!
  8. HUGE Error! Reverse Brant Brown!
  9. I love watching the camera shake in the postseason. It creates a minor earthquake
  10. Cubs just have to match Kershaw. They don't have to beat him. If they can suppress the Dodgers and work Kershaw's pitch count up, they can win late. The CHC pen is better than the LAD's
  11. Everyone talks about Theo and his link to two curses. What about Tito winning with the sox and then taking the Guardians to the WS. Strange, sox had an 86 yr drought and the Guardians have a 68 yr drought
  12. The Guardians still have 2 home games
  13. That pen is dominant. Ours was better before demolition. It pains me to see what could have been if we didn't have 4/5 of the rotation and 2/3 of our lineup eating s*** on a daily basis
  14. Kershaw is a beast
  15. Lux tax be damned. You've got a title window and you have to take advantage of it
  16. 19.95K/9IP in the playoffs
  17. JF is not the best manager around should be in the optimist side. The pessimist side is that he is the lovechild of Bobby Valentine and Grady Little and deserves public scorn and ridicule
  18. I think the sox are truly going to have a competition at 3b. Pablo, Shaw, Moncada. You're gonna get a DH. Smith should come back and pair with Kimbrel. You'll need at least one more reliever
  19. He turned 24 2 weeks ago. He just hit 21HR with an .809OPS as a 23 yr old SS. This a year after hitting .320. You aren't dealing him. Anyone who says you are is stupid
  20. Hanley returned to post solid numbers. You moved him from his initial position to LF and then 1b. Moving him off the diamond altogether forces him to adjust again. And a lot of non players don't understand the difference, but being a DH is VERY hard. You feel disconnected for 90% of the game. It takes time to develop into a DH, and some guys do it better than others. I wouldn't f*** with Hanley, especially with Ortiz leaving. Leave him at 1B, get a guy who is already seasoned at DH or rotate it to keep your kids fresh And I speak from personal experience. I was a college 1b, power hitter. My senior year, our SS, who was our captain, blew out his arm and supplanted me at 1b. I became the DH and it was f***ing miserable. Eventually, my production cost me my position in the lineup entirely. It's a different rhythm, a different role. You've got to balance the feel of not playing with the feel of hitting 3-4 times a game. I was awful at it. Some guys cannot do it. You just got Hanley back, got 30-110 out of him. Don't f*** with him again
  21. Votto just turned 33. He just posted a .985OPS following up a season where he posted a cool 1.000 OPS. His OBP numbers are absolutely off the charts. Yes, he has 7 years left on his contract, and it is at $22.5 mil a year. I get that. Its a big, although not quite as big a number as guys will start to see. Regardless, if you deal a player coming off the season he has, you expect FULL salary relief and major prospects in return. It's the price of business. Votto has been the best 1b in the NL for awhile now. If someone doesn't meet that demand, they'll keep their only draw to the ballpark.
  22. The Yankees got 2 top 75 prospects and two big league ready relievers for a 31 yr old reliever. Sale has a LOT more value. It would take 4 major prospects to get him with 2 being big league ready.
  23. I think the Yankees should trade Brett Gardner and ARod's expiring contract for Mike Trout.... Do you guys see how stupid these proposals sound? Longoria and Archer would cost immense amounts on their own. Then factor in the upcharge to go to a rival and you don't have the prospect capital to get it done. You'd need to impact your big league roster on top of gutting your farm. I think the big fish is Chris Sale. He's going to get dealt this offseason IMO. No upcharge and a single top notch guy. It'll cost you Moncada plus probably Kopech, Groome, Devers etc.
  24. Rusney for Votto? Lololololol! I've now heard it all. Votto's contract is long. That being said, he's one of the best offensive players in baseball and he's still in his prime. Getting him would cost prospects AND eating his contract
