  1. It isn't close to even. Losing Kimbrel and signing a middle reliever type or two isn't going to replace a shut down reliever proven in Boston
  2. JB, Mookie should win it. I can just see the ridiculous argument if he doesn't.
  3. CNS is central nervous system.
  4. Mookie has the highest WAR and is the best overall player. He is the AL's best player, but the vote is for the most valuable. With Martinez likely to finish top 5 as well, I have to think he pulls a bit from Mookie. Also, I think a case is made that the Guardians don't make the playoffs without Ramirez, although it's a weak argument. Betts should win, but whenever there are two really good options on the same team, they usually split the vote and someone else gets it
  5. It could also drop your cliff by not signing him if you don't reach as dizzying a height as your team is capable of
  6. Ding ding ding. He is among the best in baseball. 6.4 WAR the last 2 seasons is incredible for a reliever. He was about a win above replacement when he arrived, but he was solid near or over 3 for every year before then. He was at 11.6WAR his final 4 years in Atlanta and after a 1.3 and 0.9 the following two years with SD and Boston, he is back to that pace. He is an incredible closer capable of locking things down IN BOSTON. You guys need to remember that for every Kimbrel, there's a Hansen. Guys with premier stuff who wilt under the pressure.
  7. He isn’t going to “price himself out”. You’re not the sisters of the poor. A downgrade on the back end is not going to make your club better and when you’ve got one year left before major changes take place, you maximize your capability. I hope you lose Kimbrel. I really do
  8. And his velocity was down. He came back vs the O’s and the velocity was back
  9. And Chapman is back throwing seeds after missing some time. Jansen has afib or SVT but one couldn’t really plan for that. Yes, a 5 year deal for a closer is destined to be a back end bear, but your front end is where you need him
  10. Chap got a 5 year deal albeit he was 2 years younger than Kimberly at the time he signed his deal (Chap is in fact three months older than Craig). I know Davis got a higher AAV over three seasons, but he turned 33 this year. My guess on Kimbrel is 5 yrs $100 mil on the nose
  11. Going out and getting higher priced players ain’t happening. Ramos is probably the prize on the open market and he isn’t making it to Boston. Your catching situation is far from ideal, but their defense is solid and you don’t need offense from the position with the rest of your lineup humming
  12. Slav, your team is within their window. Next year is the final season before major changes are likely to take effect. You don’t start pinching pennies now. If you drop Kimbrel, the team suffers.
  13. Haha Youk. Didi has been told Players with a similar injury can play through this, but he could barely move the wrist when he arrived at the park and needed a cortisone injection. My assumption is that he will try to play with it but be pretty limited. It’s a big blow.
  14. Torn wrist cartilage on slide that clinched the WC. Devastating news
  15. If he’s used, I can foresee a one run lead turn into a 2 run deficit rather quickly
  16. They’re winning although in a disjointed manner
  17. The issue with Wright is that if he doesn’t have it one day, he’s true BP. Pitchers with great stuff can gut through an appearance of their stuff is off, but a knuckleballer is throwing BP if it isn’t tumbling. If Wright is leaned on as your middle relief guy, I foresee him costing you a game in rather epic fashion.
  18. 2012 isn’t that far in the past. Yanks clinch a PO spot today. If we go 5-3 to close out the year, we win 100. Crazy that a 100 win team is eliminated from contention in their division with 11 games to play. Insane run by the Sox this year
  19. Plus minus. Our issues in the second half aren’t due to our rotation. Our offense hit the shits at the wrong time. A lot of that has to do with Sanchez being out or sucking and losing Judge for a couple months. That being said, subtracting a 23 yr old rookie who just annihilates baseballs wouldn’t be a great idea. Also, Andujar’s defense has been atrocious, but it’s not set in stone. He moves well, he just needs to refine his footwork. He’s got a cannon from 3b, he just needs to work on his accuracy. He makes the dazzling plays, as with a lot of kids, it’s the routine ones he can get sloppy on. We have enough in the system to get one big acquisition on the trade market without hitting our big league roster. I’m talking an ace, not a mid rotation guy or a good player. I’d rather go that route and then let the younger guys fill in over the next couple seasons.
  20. He’s as streaky as they come. “Expecting” anything of him outside of good defense is a fools errand
  21. Yes it should. Especially if Judge And Chap shake off their rust
  22. Lars Anderson, the 20 time all star, ended up paying some level of dividends for you
  23. Boone managed poorly in this one, but you also have to tip your cap when applicable. Tanaka never should have been in a spot to allow the 5th run. Let KRob buzzsaw the sox in the 5th, Green 6th, Britton 7th, Betances 8th and then Chap in the 9th with Holder as the backup. Letting Tanaka go too far and trying to eek out too much from Green was the downfall of this game. Otherwise, the sox hit Chap and Betances and you tip your cap when they do
  24. That's the crazy thing, every possibility is open. We could bring in Machado and Harper with Happ and say FTW, we are gonna slug our way to a title. We have the prospects to deal for Thor, DeGrom or Bumgarner. We could go out and sign Kershaw. We could make some tweaks and roll with a team largely intact coming off a 95 win season.
  25. Congrats guys on winning the East. We will try to give you hell in the playoffs. Enjoy the celebration. Well earned
