  1. No, it was a team that absolutely demolished the bad teams. The Sox murdered the rest of the division outside of the Yankees.
  2. I happened to be at a reunion. I didn't post at all during either game 1 or game 2. I'm back home now. I'll be on tonight for sure
  3. I think it is as close to a must win as a non elimination game can be. We need to set the tone at home and keep the stadium rocking.
  4. The other thing Cora needs to do is cut bait early if need be. If the yanks put a 5 spot up early, Cora needs to avoid burning out his guys for game 4. You need to win a single game in YS. Doesn’t have to be game 3
  5. Looks like someone agrees with me, lol. It’s common sense. You have a chance to guarantee a return trip to Fenway, you do it
  6. it doesn’t guarantee anything, you’re right. But Porcello has proven to be pretty good against the Yankees and if you’re talking about a game you should win yet your middle relief is coughing it up, I could see it happening. Cora is a smart, new age kind of manager. He gets that a game you’re up 2-3 runs, you should win. He also gets that the Yankees are a vastly different squad at home vs away. He also likely knows that the Sox aren’t likely to win two games in the stadium. If presented with a chance to take game 3, I think he’d take it and sacrifice game 4
  7. If we take game 3, then game 4 will definitely be a pen game. Then again, if we lose game 3, it will absolutely be a pen game. With a day off after it, should we go to a game 5, he’ll pull CC at the first sign of any difficulty. Sevy wasn’t necessarily “ace-like” in the WC game, but his stuff was good. I’d like to see a more aggressive approach out of him. Once he got a lead, he stopped throwing the ball in the zone and made the A’s chase. It worked, but only because our pen is really really good
  8. Trollmanship? Lol, funny jung. You need to win a single game. If you’re ahead and the lead is crumbling, I could see Cora sacrifice the 4th game to win the 3rd
  9. I could see Porcello coming into Game 3 in a select situation. Sox leading, middle relief falling apart, Eovaldi didn't give innings. If you use both and go to a mishmash game in game 4, so be it. You must ensure you win one in NY. That isn't easy, as we didn't lose a single home game last post season and are 1-0 thus far this post season
  10. He is a chameleon, he can adjust. The sox could jump on him, but he also only throws fastballs 33% of the time, so you are asking your hitters to go up there early in the count hacking at what will likely not be anything straight. Tanaka also had good command last night. Your best approach vs Tanaka is to try and get his fastball and lift it. Your best chance of seeing the fastball is to get ahead in the count
  11. Eovaldi has dominated us this season. Using Porcello kept you from having to use any other shitbag reliever for 2 outs in a game you won by a run. Cannot really complain there. You need to take 1 game. If any of you were asked about your level of happiness at a Game 5 in Boston with Sale on the mound, I think most of you would take it
  12. Colorado self destructing now. Ball and wild pitch sends home two runners with two outs. The batter ended up striking out
  13. Gonna be interesting
  14. The crazy thing is, I told you guys all year that your lineup was too top heavy. But when Mitchy no bags was Mitchy 2 bags, your lineup was deeper. Now, you’re 5-9 with an occasional JBJ single is bad. And when your top has a rough game, you’re not gonna score.
  15. Plus minus. Tanaka is a guy who young players will have trouble with. Severino is a straight up gas man. He’s the kind of pitcher a kid would like, especially with a short porch
  16. Devers should play in NY.
  17. You guys are funny. Over? We don’t hit Porcello or Eovaldi nearly as well as we do Price. You need one game and you get to go back to Fenway and hand the ball to Sale. This won’t be over until you’re eliminated, if you’re eliminated
  18. Tanaka is a good pitcher. If the Sox were aggressive, he’d have nibbled more. Since they sat back, he just got ahead and forced them to hit his splitter, which is almost impossible. Tanaka’s splitter in his final two starts of the reg season was a hanger and he got killed. He said he found his release point in the bullpen between the end of the season and his start. When he has a splitter, he’s real hard to hit. Lots of his pitches move laterally, but the split changes the eye level. He had the splitter last night. Expecting the Sox to hit our pen is not a good bet. Your team has to make hay vs our starters. With Tanaka coming out hot, you didn’t have a shot without a transcendent performance on the mound. This team has been disjointed most of the year but we have shown some moxie in these three PO games. Now we have taken home field advantage from the Sox. Let’s see if they do something with it
  19. That’s a huge win for us. Last year, we won only one game on the road in the playoffs and went undefeated at home. Also, with Porcello throwing his bullpen before game one then going in for an inning, I had heard the possibility that they flip flop Eovaldi and Porcello. Either way, we did our job. Now we have a shot to close it out at home, although as I’ve told every person I know, this thing is going 5
  20. That’s because I’m at a reunion this weekend and I was far too intoxicated to pick up my phone. Sale had a short outing, but his stuff was good enough. Not vintage, but better than his final start vs the O’s. Happ s*** his pants. Our O made it difficult, but couldn’t finish because Stanton can’t even make f***ing contact with the sacks packed. We need one at your house. Hopefully it’s tonight
  21. Buck had been making a habit of leaving teams and then they go on a world series run. Happened in NY, ARI and Texas. My guess it wont be happening in Baltimore
  22. That is a distinct possibility as well
  23. Here’s what it comes down to. The WC game didn’t hurt us at all. If it was the old format, Happ and Tanaka would be pitching 1-2 in the Fens anyway. We added Torres, Andujar, McCutchen, Stanton, Britton and Cutch to a team that was a game away from the WS. The only disadvantage is one measly home game. We are as healthy as we have been all year. There are no more excuses. Either we are good enough or we aren’t to beat these Sox. I loved all the jabs about the Sox being in first place and how second felt. Well, it’ll all be settled within the next 7 days. May the better team win
  24. the series is going 5, btw. Anyone thinking sweep or 3-1 win is crazy.
  25. Well, the Yanks did it. They took out the A's and now head to Boston for a 5 game series. While the use of Severino in the WC game was hotly debated, it ended up being the right move. It also allows the Yankees to set up their rotation vs the Sox. My guess at the matchups is as follows 10/5 Game 1 at Fenway Happ vs Sale 10/6 Game 2 at Fenway Tanaka vs Price 10/8 Game 3 at Yankee Stadium Severino vs Porcello 10/9 Game 4 (if necessary) at Yankee Stadium Sabathia vs Eovaldi 10/11 Game 5 (if necessary) at Fenway Happ vs Sale
